Harry Gardner Park Campground, Toutle, Washington

Date of Stay: June, 2019 - $25.00
Overall Rating:

Small park, but all the back in's are long with plenty of room to unhook and park your tow vehicle even in a big rig. 50 amp worked well (although on the box was in the sun and the last 2 days it was 90 degrees and we had an issue running both ACs and microwave blowing breaker), and water pressure good. Sites from maybe 6 to 14 little to no shade. Only one interior road easy to navigate and all sites were clear for back in. We stayed in 14 the last one on the circle no one on our open side, with some trees but not for shade on the trailer. Road has logging trucks till may 3 in the afternoon, and Fiest Rd dead ends at the river. For some reason there is a constant flow of cars all afternoon and early evening down that road to the river, the come in stay 15 min. and leave. Whatever they did we didn't know. Good Satellite view from all sites, 3g verizon service even with booster and no internet connection. Not much to do if you don't fish other then visit Mt. St. Helens and visitors center but worth the visit. 4 days and there were only 4 campers and the host while we were there. Get supplies before you go as it's a trip back if you need to. We camped at Harry Gardner Park Campground in a Fifth Wheel.

Barton Park, Boring, Oregon

Date of Stay: June, 2019 - $31.00
Overall Rating:

A little bit of a drive if you want to visit Portland, but worth it. Far enough off the highway to be quit. We stayed 2 times around the Memorial day weekend. site 64 and 61, both pull thru sites site 64 had a large semi private area for the fire pit and table. 61 was a much smaller space width wise. Weekend park was full but you still didn't feel cramped. Mon. thru Thur. park semi empty. Easy to access sites, and just be sure to follow directions and not your GPS. We camped at Barton Park in a Fifth Wheel.

Cascade Locks / Portland East KOA, Cascade Locks, Oregon

Date of Stay: May, 2019 - $46.00
Overall Rating:

Not far off of 84 but traffic noise was tolerable, the trains a different story, very close to the back of the park, we had a spot at the front. If you don't check out the park it can be a bit of a shock. We spent 3 nights for the holiday weekend. Park was packed and very noise, but the pull thru spots at the front were very roomy for a KOA. 50 amp electric worked as required, the trees prohibit satellite views but provide excellent shade. Overall an 8 as it is a jam packed KOA We camped at Cascade Locks / Portland East KOA in a Fifth Wheel.

Bay Point Landing, Coos Bay, Oregon

Date of Stay: May, 2019 - $53.00
Overall Rating:

We booked a 5 night stay at the state park down the road. We didn't check reviews and found no cell (so no internet) or satellite view due to trees. We stayed 2 nights and moved to Bay Pointe for the remaining 3. One of the nicest parks we've stayed at in our journeys. We booked a back in bay view at the end of the row. No one within 5 spaces of us. Great Sat. views though no shade trees. Some of the best wifi ever, and not extra charge, we could stream. The office and other buildings are finished but they are working on landscaping. Would have put in more mature trees it will be years before what they put in will be trees. Roads easy to navigate and lots of room to turn for back in's. Great bay views, with access to clam if you want and they have buckets and shovels available. Most modern facility in the area, and of any we've stayed at in the 30 odd states we've traveled in. For a few dollars more then the state park well worth the money. One of our favorite stays. We camped at Bay Point Landing in a Fifth Wheel.

Harris Beach State Park, Brookings, Oregon

Date of Stay: May, 2019 - $36.00
Overall Rating:

One of new favorite parks. Spacious, semi private (hedges between). View of the ocean. Had we know we would have booked one on the over side of the road so the ocean would have been out our back window. Easy to back in for even long trailers. Very quite at night very little road noise from 101. 30 amp worked well, great phone service, and excellent Sat. view. Very little shade as the trees were behind us, but not a real concern in April in Oregon. We camped at Harris Beach State Park in a Fifth Wheel.

Bullards Beach State Park, Bandon, Oregon

Date of Stay: May, 2019 - $33.00
Overall Rating:

Very nice park. We stayed in Section A. lots of trees, more than B or C. Easy back in but we were cautious about which one we picked. Over 34 feet could be a problem in may sites. We had great verizon signal, and an easy Sat. view. Hedges between sites made for semi privacy. Beach is 1.25 miles so it's a hike. 30 amp worked well and water pressure was excellent. We camped at Bullards Beach State Park in a Fifth Wheel.

Sunset Bay State Park, Coos Bay, Oregon

Date of Stay: May, 2019 - $33.00
Overall Rating:

We booked 4 nights, our mistake we failed to read the reviews. We were not able to get Verizon phone even with extender (so not internet as well), Satellite view (trees about 10 feet too tall, not antenna reception as well. We did stay in B05 close to the front of the camp. We are a 32 ft 5er with a long truck, we did not have trouble getting into the site but we were picking picking the slot on the map to make sure we had room to make the turn. We left after 2 nights just to regain contact with the outside world. Should have know when there is a pay phone across from your site phone is an issue. Hated to leave as the park was quite and site was really spacious. We camped at Sunset Bay State Park in a Fifth Wheel.

Tumble In RV Park , Marfa, Texas

Date of Stay: March, 2019 - $27.00
Overall Rating:

We had a medium pull thru. We stayed one night although we were scheduled for 2, lost one day due to wind. Check in was simple you go into the small trailer, fill out the info, locate your site. There aren't many so it's easy to find them. It's west Texas, so it's windy, dusty, and few trees. One night in and out the next day. If we get back this way we will stop in again, Marfa is a detour off of IH10. Worth the drive if you want to see Marfa, and the Lights. We camped at Tumble In RV Park in a Fifth Wheel.

San Angelo KOA, San Angelo, Texas

Date of Stay: March, 2019 - $35.00
Overall Rating:

We were scheduled for a 2 night stay, high winds left us here for a 3rd day. Checked with the office on the morning of our 2nd day and the spot was open for one extra night, for same nightly rate. Office staff was helpful and friendly. Laundry well priced 1.25 wash 1.00 for large capacity dryers. Sites are pea stone, level, a lot of rain our 2nd night but not mud or puddles the next morning. Would stay here again, easy to find and fairly close to shopping, stores and town. We had a pull thru regular site with opposing side by sides. Wifi was excellent one day, a little slow the second, but better then most places. We camped at San Angelo KOA in a Fifth Wheel.

Holiday COE, Benbrook, Texas

Date of Stay: September, 2018 - $14.00
Overall Rating:

We stayed in site #72 for 2 nights to off load and prep to store the 5er for the winter in Ft. Worth. What a spot there was us and one other spot at the end of a cul-de-sac. By the lake, great view of the lake. Our pull thru spot easy in and out, dump station on the way out easy as well, has access to 2 sides so 2 can dump at the same time. Be aware the middle of Sept. we had out outside lights on and were overwhelmed with Gnats when we opened the door. We spent that night and the next swatting gnats. We camped at Holiday COE in a Fifth Wheel.

Savannah South KOA, Richmond Hill, Georgia

Date of Stay: September, 2018 - $50.00
Overall Rating:

Camp was clean and very well kept, staff was friendly and helpful. Great spot with the lake on the property. Enjoyed watching the birds in the evening. Spots typical KOA very close and little room between units. We stayed 4 nights in site 35 there was a very large Class A in the patio site next to us each night, so our view out the window and at our table was of the side of a bus, early morning diesel bus start of 3 of 4 days. It is reasonable close to Savannah and highway noise was minimal till around 6 am. Did have to move my truck to let the 44ft bus out last day. if your not in a big rig don't stay in site 35 unless you like to look at buses. We camped at Savannah South KOA in a Fifth Wheel.

Apostle Islands Area Campground, Bayfield, Wisconsin

Date of Stay: July, 2018 - $45.00
Overall Rating:

They do have the new website and reservation system running. The reservation system is one of the best I've used. It will tell you what dates are available and for which sites. We stayed in #52. It's a pull thru on a hill above the office, like having your own yard outside your door. The new owners are super friendly, and our stay was great. The hook up's can be a little crazy, electric and water on door side and sewer on the other. That said one of the top 4 sites we've stayed in. We camped at Apostle Islands Area Campground in a Fifth Wheel.

Lake Fort Smith State Park, Mountainburg, Arkansas

Date of Stay: May, 2018 - $34.00
Overall Rating:

What a terrific park. We stayed in site 20. This was only our 2nd stop as new RV'ers. Could not have asked for a better spot to spend the first 2 nights of our summer journey. It did rain most of our stay but the place was so nice we didn't care. Back in site at the end of the road so we had not neighbors on our open side, and the loop is rather small, so there was very little traffic. No problem with satellite views. Phone not so much, we had to drive about 2 miles up the hill to get a signal, even with verizon and a cell booster. We camped at Lake Fort Smith State Park in a Fifth Wheel.

Lake Catherine State Park, Hot Springs, Arkansas

Date of Stay: May, 2018 - $37.00
Overall Rating:

We stayed in site 011. Beautiful site at the end of the row so out open side had to neighbors. Lots of trees so Satellite was an issue, although we were still learning to set it up. There is a hum from the power plant across the lake that sounds like distant boat motors 24/7. We liked it so much we came back in Sept. on the way home. Beaware site 011 is on a hill so you have to back your rig uphill and there is a tree right at you front end on the turn. The camp host said we were lucky we had 4WD as he had seen people without not get in. We are 34 ft.and fit nicely. We camped at Lake Catherine State Park in a Fifth Wheel.
