Riverdale RV Park, Louisbourg, Nova Scotia

Date of Stay: September, 2018 - $35.00
Overall Rating:

This is a parking lot design with sites VERY close together. No one was in the office upon arrival so we called the number on the door. We stayed here because it is close to Fortress Louisbourg and the Lighthouse. We felt like we were following a maze getting out our door and weaving our way around the crowded area with the picnic table, hook ups and close neighbors to get to the back of our rig where our truck was parked. Neighbors were VERY close. We camped at Riverdale RV Park in a Fifth Wheel.

Linwood Harbour Campground, Linwood, Nova Scotia

Date of Stay: September, 2018 - $38.00
Overall Rating:

One of the best campgrounds we enjoyed while in Nova Scotia. We had a nice long pull-thru site with hook ups located midway. Some sites have 50 amp, some have 30 amp. Nice strong power. We had no problems with our 30 amp service. Nice view of the water from our side window. Well maintained. Super wi-fi. No OTA channels but DVDs are available on loan from office. Sites are not on top of one another which is another plus. Clean washer/dryers. Even provide a platform/step to use if your stairs are a bit up in the air when you park. Every site has a picnic table and fire pit. Enjoyed out stay. We camped at Linwood Harbour Campground in a Fifth Wheel.

Five Islands Ocean Resort, Lower Five Islands, Nova Scotia

Date of Stay: August, 2018 - $39.00
Overall Rating:

This park is under new ownership. New sites are being added. We had an older waterfront site so only 30 amp which was weak. View was wonderful. Hookups at the rear of site. Wifi was good most of the time. Get code at office per device. Able to locate Direct TV satellite. Had a concern about branches on a tree on exit road. Owner took care of trimming immediately. An escort to site would have been nice but with the explanation and view from the office window, we located where we were heading. We camped at Five Islands Ocean Resort in a Fifth Wheel.

Tips for other Campers:

That Dutchman's Cheese is nearby in Upper Economy for great Gouda cheese in numerous flavors. Drove to Springhill (about 45 minutes) to Anne Murray Museum. Excellent seafood at Harbor View Restaurant in nearby Parrsboro. Enjoyed the Lobster Ravioli with a great fresh side salad. Enjoyed the extreme tide change every 6 hours and 13 minutes.

Cranberry Campground, Merigomish, Nova Scotia

Date of Stay: August, 2018 - $38.00
Overall Rating:

This park is mostly seasonal. We did secure one of the rare 50 amp sites. Site was not real level, but with adjustments, we were able to get level. Mosquitoes drove us out earlier than we had planned. They were so thick and thirsty, you had to dash from rig to travel vehicle. Interior roads full of pot holes. Wi-Fi worked well. Good water pressure. one OTA channel. Unable to find our Direct TV satellite. Not much to do in this area. We camped at Cranberry Campground in a Fifth Wheel.

Saddleback Campground, Northwood, New Hampshire

Date of Stay: August, 2018 - $20.00
Overall Rating:

Beautiful setting and very friendly staff. This is a small (28' site) family owned campground with sites located around the pond in tiered landscaping. We had a nice pull through site but we opted to back in as didn't want to twist the axles too sharply as we climbed up and to the right to enter the site. No big issue. Wifi is uncommonly strong and available at our site. 2 way hook-up (water/electric) easy to reach. Only 30 amp power. Picnic table is of great quality and fire rig is available. Negative issue: Voltage is low at times (104) so our EMS kept dropping the power and shutting us down to protect our appliances. We camped at Saddleback Campground in a Fifth Wheel.

Crown Point Camping Area, Perkinsville, Vermont

Date of Stay: August, 2018 - $20.00
Overall Rating:

Quiet park in a heavily wooded area. Great feeling from start to finish. Arrival was quick and smooth with an escort to our site. 3 way hook ups were easy to use. No satellite due to trees but there was cable. Only 30 amp but we have found that to be typical in this area. Wifi was only available near office. Had issue with low voltage but the area electric provider is due to swap out the transformer. Being heavily treed, we didn't need as much AC as if we were parking in the open/sun. Owner was very accessible, willing to please and hard working. He even trimmed a branch we thought might interfere with our exit. Convenient location for us for side trips to American Precision Museum in Windsor and King Arthur in Norwich. Nice Shaw grocery store in nearby Springfield. Good value with Passport America and fit our needs perfectly. We camped at Crown Point Camping Area in a Fifth Wheel.

White Birch Campground, South Deerfield, Massachusetts

Date of Stay: August, 2018 - $26.00
Overall Rating:

Entrance road is dirt and rough. Pool is green. Office is under repair and not usable. Grass needed mowing. Paid extra for 50 amp but due to weak leg, had to swap to 30 amp which was also weak (105 volts). Kept tripping breaker. Site had gravel at one time but was way too narrow. Found a couple of boards left by previous camper to drive up on to keep from settling too deep and to level us on the side that dropped off the 'site'. We followed the directions to pull into our site and hookups were on door side. Had to run water hose and electric cable under the rig. I guess that was a good thing as that put the power source right outside our door and convenient for constantly resetting the breaker throughout our stay. It rained and we were sitting in a water hole. Locked in the 4 wheel drive to pull our 5th wheel out of the mud for departure. I will not stay here again. I can't imagine anyone paying over $40 to stay here for w/e. I my opinion, even the PA rate was too high. We camped at White Birch Campground in a Fifth Wheel.
