Alamo City RV Park, San Antonio, Texas

The park is spacious and easy to get around, although finding the best exit may require a follow-me car! We camped at Alamo City RV Park in a Motorhome.

Tips for other Campers:

The park people suggest taking the #24 bus to the Alamo. This works great. There's an app you can use to buy a day pass with your phone. Narrated boat tour on the San Antonio river was inexpensive and fun. Pharm Table was a great veggie-based restaurant.

River Ranch RV Resort, New Braunfels, Texas

Date of Stay: April, 2019 - $65.00
Overall Rating:

This place is called a resort, but that's a bit optimistic. The park is on the Guadalupe River, but beneath the I-35 and I-35 Business roads, so is very noisy. There is a kayak launch and rental kayaks on the property. There is a boat launch next door. The park is one loop with back-ins on the outside and pull-throughs in the center. Some of the back-ins have steep slopes that appeared to required lots of blocks. We camped at River Ranch RV Resort in a Motorhome.

Tips for other Campers:

There are plenty of stores nearby; recommend H-E-B for groceries; especially for wine and liquor. Kayaking on the river was fun (we have our own inflatable kayak). Go to Gruene, a historic area in the northeast part of the city. There is live music and a number of shops there. The railroad museum downtown is free and fun. They have a model layout and some real rolling stock, including a dining car, caboose, and steam engine.

Pace Bend Park (formerly Pace Bend State Park), Spicewood, Texas

Date of Stay: April, 2019 - $5.00
Overall Rating:

The concrete pads at this park are short and the asphalt approach isn't always level with the concrete. The first site we tried had a big tree too close to open our slides. On the second site, leveling the coach put the rear wheels about three inches off the ground which isn't safe. The third one was just right! But even then we had the tips of some branches brushing against the coach in the wind. This park is on a peninsula formed by a bend in Lake Travis. It's a long way to groceries and such. We thought it was close to Hamilton Pool, but the roads don't let you go straight. We camped at Pace Bend Park (formerly Pace Bend State Park) in a Motorhome.

Tips for other Campers:

There is a gas station where you turn off of Highway 77 that has diesel and is high enough and roomy enough for a big coach. Marble Falls is a town nearby with the historic Bluebonnet Café (great pie) and an H-E-B grocery store.

Pecan Grove RV Park, Austin, Texas

Date of Stay: April, 2019 - $55.00
Overall Rating:

The first site we tried (A), wouldn't support much load on one of the 50 amp legs. The second site (52), worked fine although we were warned not to use all three air conditioners because it might blow the park supply fuses. The location of this park is great for an Austin visit. We could easily walk to Ladybird Lake, Zilker park, and a great number of restaurants. It was a short drive to the Capitol, the LBJ Presidential Library, H-E-B (groceries), Whole Foods, REI, and a bunch of music venues. This park is very picturesque with nice trees and a great feel. It was built in the 1940s, so the electrical power isn't the best. WiFi was good. We would certainly stay here again. One of our neighbors said they live a couple of hours out of town and always try to bring their Airstream to the Pecan Grove instead of a hotel room. Be careful of the Night Herons. They nest in the trees in April and May. They eat crawfish. And poop crawfish. Try not to be under one of their favorite trees. We camped at Pecan Grove RV Park in a Motorhome.

Downtown Riverside RV Park, North Little Rock, Arkansas

Date of Stay: August, 2018 - $33.00
Overall Rating:

Location! This is a great place to stay if visiting Little Rock. It really is just a huge parking lot converted into RV spots. We stayed right on the river and had a great view of the Clinton Library bridge which offers a light show at night and easy walking access to the city. The sites are close together but manageable. Most are gone for the day while exploring the sites. The office staff was welcoming. We camped at Downtown Riverside RV Park in a Motorhome.

Tips for other Campers:

There is a farmer's market downtown on Saturday. Enjoyed the Clinton Library, the Little Rock 9 National Park, the Purse Museum, the Maritime Museum, and all the walking trails. Don't miss the "Big Dam Bridge". Enjoyed eating at The Root.

Five Flags RV Park, Pensacola, Florida

Date of Stay: August, 2018 - $38.00
Overall Rating:

We really enjoyed out stay at Five Flags. At one time it was a government operated site for FEMA trailers. The layout is very spacious--not what you'd expect from an operation that wants to maximize their space for getting in as many people as possible. If making a right turn on to Wilde Lake road, be aware of the crumbling curb. Once in the park, all roads are wide and easy to navigate. The staff and tenants were friendly. They have special events planned that foster community. There are all sorts of fun details that make it interesting, like two laundry rooms in street cars, an old pickup filled with fresh flowers, and a tree stump turned into a free library. The wifi at this park is fantastic. There were antennae everywhere you looked and the speed was great. There is strong support for the military. Restaurants are within walking distance. This was a very convenient place for a Pensacola visit. We camped at Five Flags RV Park in a Motorhome.
