Old Highway 86 Campground, Blue Eye, Missouri

Date of Stay: October, 2019 - $21.00
Overall Rating:

This is a wonderful campground. Facilities are excellent. The campground is built on an peninsula at the south end of Table Rock Lake. As a result virtually every site has a view of the lake. The facilities are excellent. Every site has a paved pad for the camper with an adjacent gravel and concrete patio with a picnic table. We camped at Old Highway 86 Campground in a Travel Trailer.

Campground is about six miles from Top of the Rock Restaurant. It's a great restaurant with a great view of Table Rock Lake. https://bigcedar.com/attractions/top-of-the-rock/

Dowdy Lake Campground USFS, Red Feather Lakes, Colorado

Date of Stay: August, 2018 - $31.00
Overall Rating:

We stayed at nearby West Lake Campground in 2016 and knew we wanted to come back and stay at Dowdy Lake. We had what I consider the best site in the campground -- site 39. The first photo is the view from the door of our camper. This may be my favorite campsite ever. We camped at Dowdy Lake Campground USFS in a Travel Trailer.

Tips for other Campers:

This is a pretty remote area. There are two small general stores in Red Feather Lakes and a couple or three restaurants. If you're looking for shopping or entertainment venues, this probably isn't for you. But if you want incredible views, great hiking and a quiet setting, you'll love Red Feather Lakes. No dump station in the area. Poudre Valley Coop in Fort Collins about 50 miles away will let you dump for free. We stopped there on our way home.

Cherry Creek State Park, Aurora, Colorado

Date of Stay: August, 2018 - $30.00
Overall Rating:

We are at Cherry Creek State Park right now. Staying four nights to see kids, grandkids, neices and nephews before heading up in the mountains for a week. Cool park in the middle of the city. Other than occasional traffic noise you wouldn't know you were in a metropolitan area. Facilities are excellent. There is a maintenance guy that cleans every site after someone leaves. Fire pit was cleaned and the gravel patio area raked prior to our arrival. Our site has a level concrete pad. Lots of green space between sites. As others have lamented, there is a $9 per day charge for park access on top of camping fee. What really galled me though was having to put quarters in the machine to take a shower. :~) We camped at Cherry Creek State Park in a Travel Trailer.
