Munising Tourist Park Campground, Munising, Michigan

Date of Stay: June, 2018 - $36.00
Overall Rating:

Reserve ahead of time because the sites next to Lake Superior are excellent and $36 per night with water and electric can't be beat. As mentioned in every other review, bring extension cords and extra water lines. There's lots to do in the near by town of Munising, don't miss a Pictured Rocks Tour around sunset - amazing. Many of the lots are gravel/grass and are not perfectly level but we were fine in our 37' MH. We were there in late June and the mosquitoes weren't bad but we went over to Grand Island and were nearly carried off... No amount of bug spray would help, save the $20 ferry charge and stay on the mainland. We camped at Munising Tourist Park Campground in a Motorhome.

Muskegon State Park, Muskegon, Michigan

Date of Stay: June, 2018 - $36.00
Overall Rating:

We stayed at the Meinert Park Pines campground. Seemed like a very old campground but was in good condition. There were concrete pads to park your RV on, but you had to drive across the grass to get to them. It was dry when we stayed there, but it seems like this would be an issue if they got a lot of rain. The beach was about 1/4 mile away along with a playground which was the only place that we could get 4G with Verizon (and it seemed like a pretty slow 4G). There's not much there, great place to relax and get away from everything, but gets rather boring quick... Still we enjoyed our stay but would probably try another one of the Muskegon campgrounds next time. There were big signs at the entrance about not allowing alcohol, not sure this was actually enforced but the signs were there. We camped at Muskegon State Park in a Motorhome.

Lebanon / Cincinnati NE KOA, Lebanon, Ohio

Date of Stay: June, 2018 - $58.00
Overall Rating:

Have stayed at this campground since it was called Cedarbrook in the 90's. Always enjoyed it. Since the conversion to KOA they have improved the facility quite a bit. There's quite a bit to do for the kids but if you have no kids, then you might want to request a site away from the playground. There are lots of trees so satellite reception is probably not the best but they have excellent digital cable and OTA broadcasts. Sites are gravel and some are not too level but we've always been able to level our 37' MH and we've stayed there many times. We camped at Lebanon / Cincinnati NE KOA in a Motorhome.

Tips for other Campers:

The campground is in the town of Lebanon which is a real gem. Lots of small businesses and excellent restaurants. Go to the Golden Lamb - 4 minutes away - built in 1803, it has a restaurant, a tavern and even a small museum upstairs. They have many festivals in the summer in front of the Golden Lamb on Broadway St

Winton Woods Campground, Cincinnati, Ohio

Date of Stay: June, 2018 - $32.00
Overall Rating:

Stayed there in 2017 and 2018, already have reservations for 2019. For this review we stayed in one of the back-in sites along the lake, see pictures from back porch, it was excellent. The only problem being that it was a bit too sloped for the jacks to level us so we had to get some ramps from CW, they worked well and we were able to get level. We've been in other sites where we couldn't get level, so if this is a concern, talk to the staff before making a reservation. All the FHU sites are on concrete pads and are very level, but we wanted shade and a site on the lake, so we were very happy with our site. The only other minor issue was the amount of golf carts running around, some driven by 8 year old kids. Overall we enjoyed our stay, we were there nearly 2 weeks and had no issues with power (30A) or water. The staff was friendly and even found a credit on our account from a previous year, so we applied that towards next year's reservation. We camped at Winton Woods Campground in a Motorhome.

Tips for other Campers:

Skyline Chili - 6 minutes away - If you've never had "Cincinnati" chili then you must go here, it is fantastic. Graeter's Ice Cream - 10 minutes and LaRosa's pizza - 5 minutes... There are great restaurants all over Cincinnati but these are cheap and great!

Energy Lake Campground, Land Between the Lakes NRA, Golden Pond, Kentucky

Date of Stay: June, 2018 - $25.00
Overall Rating:

Very nice campground, similar to many state parks. 30A electric but no other hookups. Shady and quite, most other campers had boats and evidently the fishing was good according to all the fish cleaning that was happening. Several short trails, dogs allowed, beautiful lake.. We camped at Energy Lake Campground, Land Between the Lakes NRA in a Motorhome.

Tom Sawyer's Mississippi River Park, West Memphis, Arkansas

Date of Stay: June, 2018 - $44.00
Overall Rating:

2nd stay and we will return. Fantastic location along the Mississippi. Good access to Memphis. Our GPS (Garmin) gave us horrible directions but it's really easy to get to from the I-55. Also get a river front site if available. They are worth the cost (which is still very reasonable). No issues with the power. We camped at Tom Sawyer's Mississippi River Park in a Motorhome.

Texarkana KOA, Texarkana, Texas

Date of Stay: June, 2018 - $39.00
Overall Rating:

Easy on/off the I-30, somewhat sketchy part of town, good for a one night stop. Clerk was fairly clueless about local restaurants and things to do. We camped at Texarkana KOA in a Motorhome.

Tips for other Campers:

As others have mentioned, Naamon's BBQ is fantastic, best brisket I've had in a long time. Easy to walk to, just go around the office, thru a parking lot of a closed business, across the Wyndham and you're there. Might want to drive if at night but we had no issues. The BBQ, sides and sodas were all phenomenal.

Austin East KOA Holiday, Austin, Texas

Date of Stay: June, 2018 - $59.00
Overall Rating:

Campground just "reopened" in Jan 2018. The interior roads are old and bumpy but it's easy to navigate (slowly). There's farmland all around with longhorn bulls in the back. Some of the trees are very mature and one had a falcon nest with baby chicks when we were there. All the power poles, cable, water, sewer connects are new and everything worked very well at our site. The dog run is very large and has nice grass - the best one we've seen at a KOA. It was only about 15 minutes to Austin (without traffic). We camped at Austin East KOA Holiday in a Motorhome.

Tips for other Campers:

14 Minutes to Circuit of the Americas (Formula 1 race track) - kart rentals on nonrace days. 20 minutes to Congress Avenue Bridge (1.5 million bats live there and fly out each evening in the summer).

Cross's Campgrounds, Camden, Ohio

Date of Stay: May, 2018 - $37.00
Overall Rating:

It was Memorial day weekend and we needed a campsite for a 37' MH Sunday night, the owner had one opening and saved it for us. The site was a bit sloped so we could not open our slide-out but it was still much better than where we were previously. The campground is very nice, lots of trees and a small lake. There were lots of permanent residents but no complaints. We literally "rolled" out of bed in the morning and headed to our next destination. We camped at Cross's Campgrounds in a Motorhome.

Maid-Rite Sandwich Shoppe, 125 N Broadway St, Greenville, OH 45331 is about 30 miles north, so if you're headed that way, it is certainly worth a stop. Checkout the "gum" wall and get some Little Kings with your burgers.
