Adrian Municipal Park, Adrian, Minnesota

Date of Stay: September, 2019 - $28.00
Overall Rating:

Lovely municipal park w abundant grass, maple trees, trails, games for kids. Easy to access from I-90. The negatives: unclean bathrooms. Bathroom near dump station was filthy. Manure stench from a nearby farm for the first 5 hours we were there. Too bad. We camped at Adrian Municipal Park in a Motorhome.

Nice staff. Unusually nice for a "Journey" type KOA. Swimming pool & hot tub open yet in September. Trees. Poor WiFi from our spot A03. Overnight stay only. We camped at Sheridan / Big Horn Mountains KOA in a Motorhome.

Picabo Angler RV Park, Picabo, Idaho

Date of Stay: September, 2019 - $34.00
Overall Rating:

Lovely RV park if you don't mind being out in the open. Check in @ Texaco Station across the road from the campground. Green grass, small trees @ border & flowers all maintained by irrigation. Great views of the sunset & night sky. Across from field containing sheep & a llama. The only game in town. We camped at Picabo Angler RV Park in a Motorhome.

Tips for other Campers:

Near Silver Creek where fly fishing can be done in float tubes. Owners have store/cafe/gas station across the highway complete w outfitters shop. 30 miles from Ketchum/Sun Valley for sightseeing, dining & shopping, etc. All delightful.. Near Silver Creek Preserve where hiking without dogs can be done.

Farewell Bend State Recreation Area, Huntington, Oregon

Date of Stay: September, 2019 - $34.00
Overall Rating:

Well kept clean park on the Snake River. Very hot & dry. River was low w bluegreen algae present. Self check in w 3 loops to choose from. Loop A (Antelope)- near dump station, closest to park area & highway. Loop B (Brown something)- more private w trees & hedges between sites. Loop C (Catfish)- open area w great view of the night sky but scorching during the day - our loop. We camped at Farewell Bend State Recreation Area in a Motorhome.

Tips for other Campers:

Rangers were very courteous. Not much to do in area. Would not swim in the water this time of the year. Unsure about other times. Good stop over site. We stayed 2 days. Too long.

Cove Palisades State Park (Deschutes Campground), Culver, Oregon

Date of Stay: August, 2019 - $21.00
Overall Rating:

State campground over Labor Day Weekend. Our spot, A39 was very narrow & our door opened within 3 feet of the bushes. Lovely green community areas but most campsites are dirt. There appear to be no restrictions on the number of vehicles that can be parked or the number of tents pitched per site. Families & large groups of friends appeared to be having a great time. I suspect that this park is really meant for them. The Common River which is nearby gets a lot of use by the campers. The sad thing is that it is VERY green. A ranger confirmed that the color is from an algae bloom. Would not let my kids or animals get into it-my opinion. Well kept park for those it is catering to. We camped at Cove Palisades State Park (Deschutes Campground) in a Motorhome.

Not much near by except the Common River. As above, currently overtaken by a major algae bloom. Very little shopping so stock up before arriving. It is a long ride down into the canyon where it is located.

Diamond Lake RV Park, Diamond Lake, Oregon

Date of Stay: August, 2019 - $36.00
Overall Rating:

Apparently the RV Park was just purchased by the Diamond Lake Lodge down the road 3 miles. We were assigned a site & not able to select one ahead of time. That said, we liked our campsite. Laundry facilities adequate. Only WiFi is @ the Lodge where you can sit in the lobby or on patio to use. The big turnoff was Diamond Lake. Near the campground, it was reasonably clear & clean appearing. At the Lodge, the same Lake is brown w a thick algae bloom. The ducks make trails in the water while swimming. As per several people, the food source for the algae is likely sewage. Yuck. Won't go back until it has improved. There are other campgrounds in the area that service Crater Lake visitors. We camped at Diamond Lake RV Park in a Motorhome.

Astoria / Warrenton / Seaside KOA, Hammond, Oregon

Date of Stay: August, 2019 - $40.00
Overall Rating:

We were transients for only one night & were stuck in the back where campers were packed in like sardines. Electrical boxes were toward the front of the site so it was impossible to fit both the RV & tow car on the site without pointing the wrong direction. Playground for kids was dirt covered & not pleasing to look at. Finding washing machines was a challenge. Two washers & driers for a large portion of the campers. When you sit there waiting for wash to finish, you can choose a site across from the men's restroom or outside shower stalls. Will not return. We are value club members & have much KOA experience. This place needs work. We camped at Astoria / Warrenton / Seaside KOA in a Motorhome.

Salt Creek Recreation Area, Port Angeles, Washington

Date of Stay: August, 2019 - $20.00
Overall Rating:

Gorgeous setting on the ocean. From our RV, we had a panoramic view of the water & lovely trees. Trails extend from the camp & are worth taking. Imbedded WWII bunkers are visible along the trails. We will return. Get a reservation in advance. It is a long ride to take from Port Angeles if there are no sites left. We camped at Salt Creek Recreation Area in a Motorhome.

Fidalgo Bay Resort, Anacortes, Washington

Date of Stay: August, 2019 - $36.00
Overall Rating:

If you have a site on the water, it is lovely. If you are in a parking lot spot like we were, not so much. There is access to the beach for all & the sunsets were impressive. The campground gives access to a very nice bike & walking trail that goes into town. We would return if we can reserve a better site. We camped at Fidalgo Bay Resort in a Motorhome.

Newhalem Creek (NPS Campground), North Cascades National Park, Washington

Date of Stay: August, 2019 - $20.00
Overall Rating:

Enjoyed the experience. No hook-ups. Under the trees. Trails accessible from the campground. Lovely scenery. Campground was subject to a winter storm which blew down a number of large trees. Our site was fine. A Loop, #11 was disfigured significantly. We would not have been comfortable there. We camped at Newhalem Creek (NPS Campground) in a Motorhome.

Wenatchee River County Park, Monitor, Washington

Date of Stay: August, 2019 - $38.00
Overall Rating:

Enjoyed this lovely grass covered park with trees along the Wenatchee River. Very pleasant. Sculptures in the park. Ample space for walking. We entertained friends there with dinner under the trees & a campfire. Well managed. Staff friendly & helpful. Two downsides: busy highway near by w road noise (white noise to me & not disruptive) as well as train tracks in the near vicinity. Trains were infrequent but the noise was notable. We camped at Wenatchee River County Park in a Motorhome.

Such a wonderful place. A lovely oasis with grass, trees & flowers everywhere! Hard to be tense from traveling after arriving here. Owners are very nice people. It is a family run business. Yellowstone Grizzly RV Park & Cabins, West Yellowstone, Montana

Date of Stay: August, 2019 - $70.00
Overall Rating:

We were unable to find a campground in Yellowstone so opted for Grizzly which is located near the West Entrance to the park. This place is excellent. Well kept, well run, very pleasant. We were very happy here & will return. Cost is a negative but it was so good that we are happy we splurged for 3 days. Used the laundry, walked into downtown, went out to sightsee daily. We camped at Yellowstone Grizzly RV Park & Cabins in a Motorhome.

Tips for other Campers:

Grand Prismatic Spring is spectacular. Park @ Midway Geyser Basin & hike up to the overlook for nearby Grand Prismatic. It is best viewed from above but the walk around near the Spring is interesting as well. Beryl Spring, Grand Canyon of Yellowstone on the way to Tower Roosevelt, Mammoth Hot Springs. All are on the circle drive beginning just north of Madison Junction. If you go to see Old Faithful, park near the post office & Old Faithful Inn rather than in the designated parking area for the geiser. Space is abundant.

Gros Ventre Campground (Concessionaire Operated), Grand Teton National Park, Wyoming

Date of Stay: August, 2019 - $40.00
Overall Rating:

Lovely campground along the Gros Ventre River. First come, first served. We got incredibly lucky & scored the last electric site. Good because it was very hot & then later when it stormed we could cook inside. Staff were friendly. Campground was scenic. Good for biking & walking. Moose in the area by the river. Sites are very small but reasonably well spaced. We camped at Gros Ventre Campground (Concessionaire Operated) in a Motorhome.

Tips for other Campers:

Had to unhook to park our small tow vehicle. Pull through elsewhere in the park for the very large rigs. We are Class C. Went into town to the Occidental Saloon for their Thursday night Bluegrass Jam. An authentic picturesque old business. Enjoyed the music featuring local musicians of all ages. Food was mediocre but that is not what we were there for. Arrive by 5:30 for 7pm show.
