John Wayne's Waterfront Resort (formerly Sequim Bay Resort), Sequim, Washington

Date of Stay: September, 2018 - $35.00
Overall Rating:

The gals in the office are so nice! I got a site with power and water, but no sewer, as I had no reservation and they were full. It was a huge site that backs up to trees. Mostly level. I had a little trouble getting my water connection to seal, and within minutes of asking the front office for help, I had two hosts there to help me! There are trails all around and also a creek! Lots of room to walk the dog too. The Marina is right across the street, so you can fish or put in a kayak in, or just walk the docks. The campground is clean and feels very safe. It's super quiet at night. Dark too, for star gazing. It's very close to town; Safeway, Walmart, etc., about 8 minutes away. They also have a nice laundry room, with two washers and two dryers, one of them gigantic and hot, for quick drying. And no kids! Heaven! I really fell in love with this park. We liked it so much, we booked it for the winter! They have spectacular cabins for rent as well with amazing views! Cabin #4 is pet-friendly with a small porch facing the water! You will love it! We camped at John Wayne's Waterfront Resort (formerly Sequim Bay Resort) in a Travel Trailer.

Tips for other Campers:

There's a fantastic (though expensive) restaurant across the street at the marina called Dockside Grill. MAKE RESERVATIONS for a good window seat. Skip the oysters on the half shell--too salty.

Rainbows End RV Park, Sequim, Washington

Date of Stay: September, 2018 - $37.00
Overall Rating:

This park IS very cute, but my space was so small, I was unable to open my awning, which means it will be wrapped up wet for days. I was able to park my truck in my space, but then I couldn't fit the picnic table. Do not take any V-angled spaces at this park. They might look bigger on paper, but they are too small on one end to be useful. The park seems very clean and well-kept, but when I went to plug into the pedestal, I noticed that one of the connections was melted. There was also a water leak right next to the sewer that had created a large muddy puddle right where I had to stand to hook up the septic and the water. It was really gross. The pedestal was fixed right away; the water leak was not. You can hear the highway from the back of the park, but at night it isn't bad at all. After the second night, I decided I had to find another park. No refunds, but the manager was kind enough to offer me a few days for free when I return. Unfortunately, I won't be returning, so I wound up paying $223 for two nights there. Sigh. We camped at Rainbows End RV Park in a Travel Trailer.

Forks 101 RV Park, Forks, Washington

Date of Stay: August, 2018 - $20.00
Overall Rating:

The rate above reflects a monthly rate of $600 a month. The spaces are large in comparison to other parks. I could have stayed connected and still had a nice little green area behind my camper. Plenty of room to put the awning out. It's a nice, deep park, with wild blackberries everywhere for breakfast in the morning. Wifi was spotty and slow, and only available in the first few spaces near the office. The laundry was pretty clean and all the machines worked. Only $1.75 a load! It's super dog-friendly--just pick up your dog's poop! The new owner is super helpful and very no-nonsense. I liked her immediately. She's making some changes, but still needs a few things like fire pits and picnic benches for every site, and sewer caps for every drain. But she's working on it. She's also very responsive. I had an electrical issue when I first plugged in, and she had someone on it that same day. It was fixed by evening. We camped at Forks 101 RV Park in a Travel Trailer.

Tips for other Campers:

There's a big grocery store and hardware store right across the street, which is super convenient. Propane is at the TruValue store. I don't recommend TruValue for anything else though--terrible service there and 6 dog poop bags for $7. Holy moly. TONS to do around Forks: La Push, beaches, rain forests, hiking, kayaking, the Makah Reservation, etc. Just so much to do. And if you're a twilight fan, you'll really enjoy yourself here.
