Bear Mountain RV Resort, Bakersfield, California

Date of Stay: December, 2018 - $27.00
Overall Rating:

Great price for your basic no-frills camp. Easy access (no signs, use GPS) and friendly afternoon manager. Rest rooms were being worked on, and rates are due to rise $2 very soon. Still a bargain. Propane sales down the road ~3 miles at Mobil. We camped at Bear Mountain RV Resort in a Travel Trailer.

Major shopping centers up the road on Hwy 99. Cable TV did not work at my site. Cell tower visible from camp, brought in >5Mbps with hotspot.

San Diego Metro KOA, Chula Vista, California

Date of Stay: December, 2018 - $63.00
Overall Rating:

It's clean, convenient, level paved sites. I picked the "less expensive" 30 amp drive-thru at $63/night. Don't recommend it during the 2018 winter. Bulldozers 30 feet away constructing new camp sites start at 8, go to 5. Helicopters overhead at about 4 per hour, day and night, presumably due to the border issue (Mexican border 10 miles away), and a man with a very loud streetsweeper is on a mission to make my camp experience miserable. Good place to park the camper and see San Diego, not for peace and quiet. They have discount tickets for most local attractions at the office. Watch out for little kids on bikes. We camped at San Diego Metro KOA in a Travel Trailer.

Coachland RV Park, Truckee, California

Date of Stay: September, 2018 - $60.00
Overall Rating:

Good, clean park for overnight. Narrow, KOA-type sites, but good shade and paved access roads. Outstanding K-9 park, former baseball field. We camped at Coachland RV Park in a Travel Trailer.

Colorado Springs KOA, Fountain, Colorado

Date of Stay: September, 2018 - $59.00
Overall Rating:

Pay close attention to the no refund policy. You have 30 minutes to decide once you check in. The campground itself is clean, well maintained and the staff is friendly, helpful and professional. My fellow campers are well served with level sites, full hookups, and escorted direction to their designated locations. Sewer is close to back of site, while my connection was in the middle of the trailer. I had to back into the road to use it with a standard hose. You can observe roving golf cart litter patrols, and staff busy cleaning the cabins and common spaces. Nice K9 park and common kitchen space. The grounds are immaculate. It is a well-run KOA campground. It also has high highway noise, a very close train, a close airport, and a rifle range across the highway. If you do not mind the noise and your dog is not afraid of gunfire, this campground is good for you. Easy access and a truck fuel station adjacent to the highway exit. We camped at Colorado Springs KOA in a Travel Trailer.

Tips for other Campers:

Cheyenne Mountain Zoo, Garden of the Gods, Pike's Peak, all nearby. Several WalMarts and large shopping centers within range. Heavy, heavy busy traffic between Colorado Springs and Denver. Stay away from weekday rush hour.
