Midway RV Park (Military FamCamp), Mid-South Naval Support Activity, Tennessee

Date of Stay: September, 2019 - $23.00
Overall Rating:

This RV park is located on an active military reservation and requires ability to access the base and use the facilities. Reservations can be made through 800-Navy-Beds or online at Navy Getaways. When you arrive at the park select your site then check in with the on-site host or at the base Ticket Office. Either gate-North/Main Gate on Navy Road, open 24/7, or South/Singleton Gate (semis and commercial vehicles also enter here) open weekdays, could accommodate my 2017, 41' motorhome with tow dolly. Make sure you call ahead to make sure the gate you want is open as they both are closed off and on for ongoing work. Nice large level concrete pads with large concrete patios and picnic table and plenty of parking for toad and tow dolly. Large grassy areas between sites. RV Park surrounded by wooded area with many deer, salt lick at back of park. Very peaceful and serene. We camped at Midway RV Park (Military FamCamp) in a Motorhome.

St. Peters' 370 Lakeside Park, Saint Peters, Missouri

Date of Stay: August, 2019 - $36.00
Overall Rating:

We arrived about a week after the RV section reopened in August after severe (15-18 feet deep) flooding in May/June 2019. Only 2 of the RV Campground pods were back open. They were just finishing rebuilding the bathrooms, showers and laundry room which were available the night before we left. The rest of the park also reopened then. Great walking/biking trails. BEWARE the goose droppings! Nice lake with rentals that should be available again. Park owned by City of St. Peter's so no discounts; regular rate for standard site with patio, nice picnic table and fire pit $42.00. However, they do have a stay 6 nights, get 7th night free which dropped our rate to $36. Some deluxe concrete pads available for $5.00 extra per night. The non-concrete pads were actually more spacious. Quiet location but close to everything you need. Easy Interstate access. We camped at St. Peters' 370 Lakeside Park in a Motorhome.

Timberline Campground, Waukee, Iowa

Date of Stay: August, 2019 - $45.00
Overall Rating:

Our site #22 was probably nicest in the park except not FHU. Most sites are very narrow with very tight turns. While we were a side by side and very close on hookup side our other side had a wide gravel patio with nice picnic table and fire pit in step down large grassy fenced area with a good view. Would not stay here in any other site. Dump station was awkward to get to and line up with because it is on a corner. Inner roads are a crushed gravel and had a lot of wash out ruts from several days of rain. They did try to get them level but not very successful. People in office were very helpful and friendly. We camped at Timberline Campground in a Motorhome.

RV Park at Rising Star Casino, Rising Sun, Indiana

Date of Stay: July, 2019 - $22.00
Overall Rating:

New park, excellent condition, concrete level pads. Pull through length and in/out turning ratio a tad tight for my 41' motorhome and dolly. Good parking site next to pad for toad. All 30/50 amp FHU w/cable. Hookup at back of pad but not too far away. Hook-up pad area for electric, water, cable and sewer is concrete. Nice sewer hookup about ⅓ of way up from back of pad. Very convenient. Shuttle to casino will pick up and return to your site. Free daily breakfast buffet at casino hotel. Casino in separate building so hotel and restaurants not affected by cigarette smoke in casino. Sits right next to Ohio River. Casino has Lady Luck ferry to take your car across the River to Rabbit Hash KY. Check-was at the main hotel, not at the Lodge which is right next to the RV park and where all the signs tell you to check in. Verify this when you make your reservation. Quiet. Not too far from Cincinnati. A little farther to Louisville. We camped at RV Park at Rising Star Casino in a Motorhome.

Wright-Patt FamCamp at Bass Lake (Military FamCamp), Wright-Patterson AFB, Ohio

Date of Stay: July, 2019 - $25.00
Overall Rating:

A military FamCamp that requires full access to a military installation to use. Well utilized so reservation is a necessity. Only 54 spaces, all 30/50 amp and water (decent pressure), 40 FHU but good dump station on-site for the other 14 sites. All sites asphalt with concrete patio and nice table. PT and BI all easily handle 41-45 foot rig plus toad. Separate parking area for trailer/tow dolly. Well maintained, nice grassy area, good space between sites. Peaceful if you don't mind reveille at 0730 and colors at 1700. Next to Bass Lake for water access. We camped at Wright-Patt FamCamp at Bass Lake (Military FamCamp) in a Motorhome.

National Museum of the USAF about 6 miles away. Huge! Lots of off-base shopping within 5-10 miles plus close to Dayton and not far from Columbus. Base has decent Exchange, Commissary, Class Six, car Care, etc., as well as golf course, walking path, indoor tennis facility.

Compass RV Park (formerly Indian Forest Campground), St Augustine, Florida

Date of Stay: June, 2019 - $72.00
Overall Rating:

We were located in The Oasis section which is the newest part of the park. All of the sites there were beautiful red brick pavers and were twice the width of my motorhome, plus a nice picnic table. The pull through sites were long enough to fit my 41' motorhome, tow dolly and vehicle. Well maintained grass. Paved roads throughout the park. Older sections were gravel, some with concrete patios. Their cable (Dish) hookup was iffy. Often could not get local channels or got them on one TV but not another. A bit pricey for Florida in the summer but with military discount it was more reasonable. We camped at Compass RV Park (formerly Indian Forest Campground) in a Motorhome.

Tips for other Campers:

Old Town Trolley in St. Augustine was an excellent way to see the whole town. We were able to load and unload my husbands motorized scooter at some of the stops. Staff was most helpful. St. Augustine Distillery had the best tour and tasting ever and it was free.

Columbia Sun RV Resort, Kennewick, Washington

Date of Stay: September, 2018 - $41.00
Overall Rating:

Extremely clean and well maintained park. Our coach is 41' with tow dolly and vehicle and our pull through site was more than enough length. Gravel site, level, concrete patio with 2-piece picnic table that converts to bench with back. Really nice. Plenty of nice grassy space between sites. Wide paved roads, easy in and out, close to I-82 but no road noise. Friendly, efficient staff. Easy, quick access to all of Yakima Valley Wine Country. Good brewpubs in town. Absolutely pleasant place to stay. We camped at Columbia Sun RV Resort in a Motorhome.
