Sunset Point Campground, Harrington, Maine

Date of Stay: September, 2018 - $36.00
Overall Rating:

Nice quiet park with a view of the ocean. This park is north of the Bar Harbor area so it's quiet. Nice grassy site with a gravel driving surface. The picnic tables have pavilion roofs over them. We enjoyed the hiking path and benches by the water. There is no cable or OTA, they have a nice selection of DVDs to borrow. The laundry is clean, one washer, one dryer. The owner is on site and keeps firewood and ice available. I think he can arrange for lobster, but we did not do that. We camped at Sunset Point Campground in a Fifth Wheel.

Tips for other Campers:

Beals Island for lobster roll. Blueberry World on Rt 1 North for fresh pies and flash frozen blueberries to take home. It's about 1-1/4 hours north on Rt 1 to Campbell's Island. We enjoyed it, and recommend the tea with Eleanor. It's an easy up and back but you need your passport. The owner has a nice local directory available. Enjoy a sunset on a bench by the water!

Arrowhead Marina & RV Park, Schenectady, New York

Date of Stay: September, 2018 - $34.00
Overall Rating:

We called at the last minute requesting a pull thru site. They were very accommodating getting us just what we needed for a one night stopover. The site had new gravel and was recently upgraded to 50 amp. We did have to disconnect the fifth wheel in order to raise the trailer to get level. The train noise is loud and constant as others have noted, so just plan on running a fan or a/c unit to generate some white noise while sleeping. This is a great stopover, just a few minutes off the Thruway. And the views of the river are nice. The staff is very helpful, we observed them assisting a couple with a soft tire on their towed car. We will stay here again. We camped at Arrowhead Marina & RV Park in a Fifth Wheel.

Brattleboro North KOA, Brattleboro, Vermont

Date of Stay: September, 2018 - $45.00
Overall Rating:

We had a pull through. It was level and had a grassy area on the curb side with a big shade tree and picnic table. Staff was friendly and helpful. Park was clean and everything worked as it should. The sites are rather close, but I expect that at a KOA. The location is great for touring southern Vermont and New Hampshire. We camped at Brattleboro North KOA in a Fifth Wheel.

Moose River Campground, St Johnsbury, Vermont

Date of Stay: September, 2018 - $38.00
Overall Rating:

We had a FHU 30 amp back in site. We put our lawn chairs out and watched the ducks playing in the river right behind our site. Power, cable, and water worked fine. The park is clean and the owners helpful and friendly. The owner has prepared a guide for local attractions and a road trip! There is a mix of seasonal and overnight campers, we found the seasonal folks very friendly. We will stay here again. We camped at Moose River Campground in a Fifth Wheel.

Ask for local attractions guide and the road trip. The Farmers Market downtown is very good (Saturday am) The rail trail starts from downtown and is good for walking or biking. There is a local arts guild shop downtown, beautiful locally crafted pottery, jewelry, etc.

The park is super clean. Our pull thru was spacious. The internal roads are a little tight but manageable. The laundry is spotless and reasonably priced. Lots of road noise. We camped at Harbor Hills Campground in a Fifth Wheel.

Megunticook Campground, Rockport, Maine

Date of Stay: September, 2018 - $40.00
Overall Rating:

This park is all about location. It is right on Route 1 which means you have some road noise, however it also means you are close to town. Rockport is a mile, Camden and Rockland, about five miles. We found everything very clean, park, bath house, laundry. Our site was long enough to back in the fifth wheel and park the truck across the end of the site. Nice stone rings at each site. The park fronts on the ocean and has a beautiful area with chairs, tables, and grills where you can relax and enjoy the view of Penobscot Bay. We had a 30 amp FHU site, all worked fine. The only negatives there is little or no ATT service here, no OTA, no cable, and the WiFi is something you can buy from the office. We elected not to. The pool looked clean, we did not use it. The staff here is super friendly and helpful and we would camp here again. We camped at Megunticook Campground in a Fifth Wheel.

Tips for other Campers:

Ride the schooner Heron out of Rockport. Visit the village of Camden, free parking is available, look For the blue signs in town. Great lobster roll at McCloons in Spruce Head. Check out Marshall Point Light in Port Clyde. The sitting area by the ocean is a real treat and a great place to unwind.
