I-10 RV Park, Fort Stockton, Texas

Date of Stay: February, 2019 - $20.00
Overall Rating:

This is not an RV resort, but this is a great place to stop for an over night. The owner did not speak a lot of English, however he was so nice!! We realized we did not have the right 50-30 amp adapter. We went back to the office. He offered to give us a refund. We said we wanted to stay so he let us look through all the extra RV supplies he had to see if we could find the right part. He did not have it so he took us to one of the full time tenants there to see if we could borrow one. The man came over to our RV to look and checked what he had. Sadly he did not have the right adapter either but recommended a store nearby that did have the right part. Overall, the park does look run down and the back row of travel trailers are not much to look at but the people are friendly and so helpful. We camped at I-10 RV Park in a Motorhome.

South Llano River RV Park & Resort, Junction, Texas

Date of Stay: February, 2019 - $20.00
Overall Rating:

I called to make a reservation at this RV park and was told it would be $40. When we arrived the office was closed. A woman staying at the park came out of her RV and said the RV park is not "officially" open. She said you just donate $20 for the cause to help out. I gave her our $20 and she told us which site to park at where the electrical equipment was working. Those were her exact words. When we pulled our RV around we passed by a bunch of dilapidated RVs that had been abandoned. Then where the electrical equipment was, there were wires hanging down and it did not look safe for the RV or for my husband to touch. We looked at the other RV sites and they all had electrical wires that were not safe hanging down. We left before hooking anything up and drove 3 more hours to the next town. Until they complete and actually open there RV park they should not accept reservations. The woman I made the reservations with did not tell us any of this. Very disappointing. I would not hook up power at this supposed RV park. We camped at South Llano River RV Park & Resort in a Motorhome.

Alamo River RV Resort, Von Ormy, Texas

Date of Stay: January, 2019 - $45.00
Overall Rating:

The price reflects a weekly rate. It is a family owned park and the daughter checked us in. She is so sweet and helpful and truly cares about the customer. The only reason I gave this park a low star value is due to a few noise issues. There is a train crossing very close to the RV park so you will hear train horns often! On top of that I believe the train system must be one where they attach and detach because we would here one beep horn, two beep, long beep, etc. We could here the train horn even with our a.c. unit running. This would happen day and night. The second noise issue is the dog rescue shelter next door. Everyday you will here a point where many dogs will bark constantly. Other than noise, the RV park itself was friendly. The park is a little run down with yard maintenance but that did not bother me. The hospitality of the staff made up for any cosmetic issues. The FHU were great. We camped at Alamo River RV Resort in a Motorhome.

Benjamin's kitchen is a few miles away and doesn't look like much but the food was delicious. They do close at 3pm so breakfast and lunch only.

Gulf Coast RV Resort, Beaumont, Texas

Date of Stay: January, 2019 - $23.00
Overall Rating:

We only stayed here for a quick overnight on our way to San Antonio. It is a great RV park with large spaces. Our particular site was large enough for our 38' class A and toad keeping it attached. Another bonus, they offer free breakfast everyday which we took advantage of while we stayed there. We camped at Gulf Coast RV Resort in a Motorhome.

Flamingo Lake RV Resort, Jacksonville, Florida

Date of Stay: January, 2019 - $60.00
Overall Rating:

We only spent 2 nights here between travels. This park is huge but well maintained. The sites are close. You do get an escort to help you to your site and park your rig. Everyone gets a concrete slab and paved pad. It is also gated with an office that is open until 8pm. The major bonus are the amenities. Pool, swimmable lake, recreation building, lots of scheduled activities, kids play area, AMAZING park cable, NO wifi, and a CAFE that delivers food to your site or you can walk to eat there. The laundry room was also very large. Close to highway, with easy entrance and exit, however we did not hear a lot of noise at night. There is also trash pickup at your site. A lot of trees would provide shade in the hot summer months. The only negative is the amount of rvs, tight spaces and no wifi. Everything else turned out to be fantastic. The location of this park is also great. An hour from east coast beaches, lots to do in Jacksonville and close to the Georgia border if you are traveling north or south. We camped at Flamingo Lake RV Resort in a Motorhome.

Tips for other Campers:

The cafe was actually really good. We were not expecting much but had the pizza one night, and hamburger and chicken philly another day and they were both great. We did not visit the area of Jacksonville.

Oak Plantation Campground, Charleston, South Carolina

Date of Stay: December, 2018 - $30.00
Overall Rating:

This park is very clean and well maintained. The price reflects the monthly rate of $925. We stayed here for one month over the holiday month of December. There is a nice dog run and a small kids play area with a swing set and large chess board. There is also a pool that is not heated so we did not test it out. The utilities were great. We did not loose power during storms and the water pressure was great. The laundry room was not great. 4 washing machines and only 2 dryers with no area to fold your cloths or even transfer them. There is a sign in the laundry room that if the machine turns off you can remove the cloths. If you do not pay to stay nightly which is pricey they put you in a dirt spot instead of a paved area. Since the park was empty while we were there and we asked for a paved spot I found this to be a turn off, especially considering it rained quite a bit while we were there and we had a mud pit when we walked outside of our rv. Another negative which is not the parks fault, the road behind the park is VERY noisy with cars and trucks honking, revving their engines at night to race and motorcycles. We had to keep our AC fan on high to try to drown out the noise. There are trains but they are in the distance and did not bother us at night. Last negative is the entrance/exit. If you want to take a left turn out of the park you will wait awhile for a break in traffic. Thankfully when we were leaving with our rv we took a right. However when we drove our car for the month there were multiple times we went further up the road and u-turned to be safe. This park with traffic is about 30 minutes from historic downtown Charleston. We camped at Oak Plantation Campground in a Motorhome.

Tips for other Campers:

Visit Gilligans Seafood Restaurant, the Glass onion and Swig or Swine on Highway 17 are definitely worth the visit. One broadstreet restaurant has an amazing brunch!! There is a beautiful very old tree called Angel Oak near the rv park. It is worth the time to visit. Lastly, USS yorktown is a must. We ended up spending 4 hours there touring the aircraft carrier and did not see everything.

Southern Trails Resort, Unadilla, Georgia

Date of Stay: November, 2018 - $12.00
Overall Rating:

The ONLY reason I gave this RV park a 3 star was due to the highway noise. Even with two AC fans running all night for extra noise we could still here truckers day and night. There is also a train nearby but we did not hear it at night. The only 50 amp sites are in the front of the park. If you have a unit that has 30 amp and can park in the back the noise may not be an issue. With that being said, everything else was great. The park is beautiful with nice trees. We stayed in site 93 and had ample room between our neighbors. The cable tv (which was included in our price) was amazing!!! 100 channels with a guide. The staff was friendly and helpful. They do have activities so we enjoyed bingo night. The sites are gravel and dirt. It did rain alot while we were there and our site did get a little muddy but it was not an issue for us. At our site the water and electric were on one side and the septic was on the other so we had to park in the opposite direction and use an extension on our electric and water. Not a problem for us since we had the equipment needed but could be a problem for others. Not every site was laid out this way so you could look around if needed. We camped at Southern Trails Resort in a Motorhome.

Tips for other Campers:

Ellis brothers pecans (exit 109) was worth the visit. The museum of aviation in warner robins was a definite must see. It has 4 buildings with life size planes. Really cool!!! We also visited the town of Perry. In the town, visit simply southern sweet bakery (the 14 layer cake was amazing!!) And the oil lamp restaurant was a local favorite that was a pleasant surprise.

Yellowhammer RV Sales and Campground, Clanton, Alabama

Date of Stay: November, 2018 - $17.00
Overall Rating:

The gentlemen checking us in was very nice. The park is small with 45 sites but easy in and out and the laundry area is really amazing! My only complaint were the potholes in the park. The cable TV did not work for us but the wifi was great so we were happy. We camped at Yellowhammer RV Sales and Campground in a Motorhome.

Tips for other Campers:

Definitely visit the only donut shop in town. The pita restaurant directly across from the rv park was really good!! Also the pecan farm store next to the pita place had really good homemade ice cream. Birmingham was only 40 minutes away.

Whispering River Resort (formerly Misty River Cabins & RV Resort), Walland, Tennessee

Date of Stay: October, 2018 - $55.00
Overall Rating:

This park was in a great location for us. It is clean and quiet. While we are here people are observing the quiet hours. There are not a lot of amenities but the bathrooms are fantastic! Laundry room was also great. The WiFi is not the best during peak times. They have a great walkway by the river and great open area for dogs to walk. I read other reviews about tight spaces but I have not seen that here. Our space is great and we have some room between our neighbors. It is a small park but we like that. Great location for Knoxville and Pigeon Forge. Close to Maryville for shopping and eating. We camped at Whispering River Resort (formerly Misty River Cabins & RV Resort) in a Motorhome.

Orlando RV Resort (Thousand Trails), Clermont, Florida

Date of Stay: September, 2018 - $50.00
Overall Rating:

I felt this park was great. The staff were friendly and helpful. You get to pick your own site. The site we chose was on broken gravel but this did not bother us. We went to some activities they had. They also have 2 pools, adult large jacuzzi, volleyball, and much more. We will definitely stay here again. Great location to get to Disney, Disney Springs and a ton of restaurants very close by. We camped at Orlando RV Resort (Thousand Trails) in a Motorhome.

Rainbow Chase RV Resort, Davenport, Florida

Date of Stay: September, 2018 - $19.00
Overall Rating:

The person who handles check in was not friendly. I can deal with that. We were supposed to stay here for one month and left after one night. Reverse polarity issues caused issues with our rig. We tried 30 and 50 on two different sites. Both had reverse polarity issues. We told owner. He said it should not be a problem and did not offer to fix or check anything at the site. When we asked to try a different site he said they are all like that. I would not stay here again. There are no locks on the bathroom doors or showers. Only curtains hung up for both. We camped at Rainbow Chase RV Resort in a Motorhome.
