Thousand Trails - Birch Bay, Blaine, Washington

Date of Stay: July, 2019 - $1.00
Overall Rating:

Really nice park. Very flat, very open, but in June there was a nice breeze. The 1st section you come to has lots of trees and seems a bit more cramped, the newer 2nd section is like camping side-by-side on a huge lawn with plenty of space. EVERYONE (I think) has sewer hook-up with is awesome !! WiFi is available for a minor fee and it's actually worth it. Great connectivity. I did have a connection issue at one point, called the wifi provider, they were very friendly, helpful and problem solved within minutes. (They had to remotely reboot the router for that part of the campground). Sites are mostly grass so if there is a chance of wind you should ensure proper stakes to hold awning. Most folks that had their awnings out had some secondary tie-downs. If you have a flexible sewer hose be prepared to find something to elevate/support the hose as the sewer pipe is a few inches above grade. Also be aware they only allow elevated fire pits. We camped at Thousand Trails - Birch Bay in a Travel Trailer.

Mount Vernon RV Campground, Bow, Washington

Date of Stay: June, 2019 - $1.00
Overall Rating:

We decided to try the "top of the hill" area and found a nice spot, however, we did not realize just how close we were to the Skagit Speedway and they were having a special racing weekend. It got a bit loud at times, but, that being said, this is still one of the nicest parks in the area. They have recently "updated" the restrooms so everything was nice and clean and "new-ish" looking at least at the restroom we used. Although a bit of a walk, the clubhouse is really nice at this location. We don't really make use of it, but we checked it out, and it has wifi, and some big screen TVs, nice little store, adult / quiet area, views, pool, billiards, etc.. Just a real nice relaxing air-conditioned building. This time of year, lots and LOTS of bunny rabbits. Arrive at the right time and they are lined up on either side of the road like a welcoming committee. We camped at Mount Vernon RV Campground in a Travel Trailer.

Lynden / Bellingham KOA, Lynden, Washington

Date of Stay: October, 2018 - $43.00
Overall Rating:

Nice grounds, mostly easy to navigate, convenient pump-out. Cell service is minimal, wifi is minimal around the clubhouse and the service is throttled by their provider. We were backed up to the lake in a 30-foot travel trailer. We're new campers and this was our very first experience. Be prepared for the Geese to laugh at you if you don't back in perfectly the first time. Really, it sounds like they are laughing. The folks who work at the park are very nice. The restrooms were a bit of a walk. We camped at Lynden / Bellingham KOA in a Travel Trailer.

Leavenworth RV Campground - Thousand Trails, Leavenworth, Washington

Date of Stay: October, 2018 - $1.00
Overall Rating:

Was in the area the last weekend of Octoberfest. The camp is quiet, level, easy to navigate 30 foot TT. While there is wifi at the clubhouse, cell service is minimal with little to no data in the park that I could find. The hours of the club-house are very limited. All-in-all this is a great park for off-season. I wouldn't want to be here during the summer or on a holiday weekend as it just seems it would be too hot, too dusty, and too open. While the pump-out is conveniently located at the exit, again, I can't imagine what the line must be like on a Sunday morning during the summer.

If you have a larger rig and coming from the EAST, recommend go PAST Leavenworth on rt 2 to the west, take 207, then right onto Old Hwy 150. Follow to Chiwawa Loop Rd to the campground. The seemingly shorter route from EAST up Chumstick to Plain has good elevation and a few hairpin curves between Leavenworth and Plain. We explored both routes (without trailer) to Leavenworth from the park. While the westerly route is longer, it took the same time to get to Leavenworth as the easterly route. We camped at Leavenworth RV Campground - Thousand Trails in a Travel Trailer.

La Conner RV & Camping Resort, La Conner, Washington

Date of Stay: October, 2018 - $1.00
Overall Rating:

New to RVing with a 30 foot TT. As others have said, if you have a longer rig, do NOT "just go down any street because there are no dead ends." As it is first-come-first-served, even in this off-season, the best sites may be taken by small RVs and in one case a site with sewer hookup was taken by a tent camper!!! We have stayed here twice as it is close and we are new to camping and have friends who come here all the time. Once you get in, it is quiet and you feel secluded which is nice if that's what you are looking for (which we are). It seems like a great camp for kids and pets. Our friends have both and usually stay in the spots near the one big open area. There's also the beach to explore too, and of course, going into town is a short drive. Do not expect cell service. While there is likely good service for any of the carriers somewhere in the park, where there isn't good service, there is almost no service. For example, there is about a 100-foot stretch that I found 5 bars of Sprint 4G-LTE and even started streaming a Netflix show to verify. However, the rest of the park I am roaming with only 1-2 bars and can't even get a Facebook feed to refresh. My friends have other carriers and while the "good spot" is different for each, it's the same general story. Wifi is only available at the club-house. Especially during the off-season, you should be able to find a spot. It may not be where or what you expected, but it will be adequate. Maintenance is adequate, and cleanliness is adequate. Hard to navigate larger rigs. I recommend walking around to find a spot. Our first time, after several close calls, once settled we strolled the park looking for potential spots for the next time. This made the second visit here MUCH easier. It must be said that the pump stations (there are three lanes) are convenient and easy to access/use and there are grey water dumps near the restrooms throughout the park. We camped at La Conner RV & Camping Resort in a Travel Trailer.
