Tips for other Campers:

Hiking sight seeing photography. Road in is steep (10%), narrow with hair pin turns. No problem unless you are squeamish. Camp sites are not typical commercial as it should be.

good for an overnight stay. Very basic, no trees, grass or landscaping. Easy maneuvering. Staff is part time but available by phone. Most rigs in park appear to be long term. I would stay again if passing through. We camped at Lone Wolf Creek RV Village in a Motorhome.

Tips for other Campers:

There is a grocery store at the corner of hwy 208 and 4th street which is amazing for such a small town. There may be good restaurants in town but none looking interesting for dinner from the outside. Some did look interesting for breakfast or lunch. The town, like many in the Midwest, has seen better days.

Shady Creek RV Park & Storage, Aubrey, Texas

Date of Stay: November, 2018 - $45.00
Overall Rating:

Very attractive park, lots of grass and landscaping. My site was not level. I had to put blocks under front wheels, but that did the trick. The gravel was uneven. I had to crawl under front of motor home to patch "holes" in the gravel before deploying jacks. A little maintenance would have been nice. I had no problem with my 35' MH, but 40'+ big rigs might find access a bit tough. Facilities are good and staff is very accommodating. I would stay here again. We camped at Shady Creek RV Park & Storage in a Motorhome.

Tips for other Campers:

Access to park off US 380 is easy. Once here, getting out can be time consuming. This is an area of rapid urbanization and street improvements have lagged. There is only one practical way out to the highway which is a signaled intersection. Traffic is typically backed up from 1/2 to 1 mile. We experienced 15 to 30 minutes delay to get to the intersection every time we went out. Allow extra time to get to places. Shopping alternatives in the area is excellent.

Buckhorn Lake Resort, Kerrville, Texas

Date of Stay: November, 2018 - $45.00
Overall Rating:

First class in every way. A park like this would cost $90/night in California. Excellent facilities, stuff to do including fishing, expertly maintained.Sites are beautiful, with large level concrete pads and easy access. Pads are bordered by healthy grass with rock on the ends. No bare dirt anywhere, except in well planted flower beds. I will stay here again. We camped at Buckhorn Lake Resort in a Motorhome.

Overall Rating:

Good over night spot to stay. I-10 is in sight but there is little to no road noise. Park is very basic but clean and convenient. Park is predominantly long term residents but over-nighters are in same area. Staff very nice. I would stay again if I was just passing through. We camped at Hilltop RV Park in a Motorhome.

Maverick Ranch RV Park at Lajitas Resort, Lajitas, Texas

Date of Stay: November, 2018 - $45.00
Overall Rating:

Best Park in area but a bit stark. Facilities are excellent but most on the grass is either distressed or dirt instead. A lot of exposed dirt. That said, even when windy, there was no dust. Sites are big and Big Rig friendly, but without character. I was there 6 days the week preceding Thanksgiving week. It was only 15-20% full, which can't be good as a business. There is an excellent restaurant in the resort across the street as well as a world class golf course. I didn't see much play so wonder if they can be profitable, but the restaurant was busy. I would stay here again. We camped at Maverick Ranch RV Park at Lajitas Resort in a Motorhome.

MacMillen RV Park, Fort Davis, Texas

Date of Stay: November, 2018 - $30.00
Overall Rating:

Friendly owners, reasonably level with easy access. Many long term residents. Best park in town. Would stay again. The reason for the visit was Ft. Davis. Very Interesting early army fort. Downtown was a surprise for such a small out of the way place with more shops and restaurants than expected. We camped at MacMillen RV Park in a Motorhome.

Hacienda RV Resort, Las Cruces, New Mexico

Date of Stay: November, 2018 - $41.00
Overall Rating:

Easy access off I-10. Nice park fastidiously maintained. Nice design. Pull through sites alternate direction with a fence at every other site. The result is that the utility connection for your neighbor is not opposite your door. Instead there is a fence. Very quiet at night. Very popular so get reservations. We camped at Hacienda RV Resort in a Motorhome.

Shadow Hills RV Resort, Indio, California

Date of Stay: November, 2018 - $70.00
Overall Rating:

Entrance road is gated. There is a call box to get in. Concrete roads and site pads. Everything else is either nicely landscaped or grass. A little road noise but not intrusive. Very friendly staff. Would stay again in spite of high price which, unfortunately, is typical for area. We camped at Shadow Hills RV Resort in a Motorhome.
