Wanderlust Crossings RV Park, Weatherford, Oklahoma

Date of Stay: October, 2019 - $43.00
Overall Rating:

This is an excellent new RV park. There are level pull-thru concrete pads that are very long (80 feet?). The park is very quiet with an occasional cow mooing in the distance. Easy access to I-40 and decent Wifi. Thee is a pay dog wash and nice landscaping. The trees will be nice in a few years. Short drive to Walmart and other shopping. We will stay again. We camped at Wanderlust Crossings RV Park in a Motorhome.

Vernal / Dinosaurland KOA, Vernal, Utah

Date of Stay: October, 2019 - $35.00
Overall Rating:

We stayed in the B-loop for 4 nights. The sites are very large and quiet but are not level. Our front wheels and other motorhomes around us had front tires off the ground. I noticed several sites with the same issue in the main area. Easy access to Vernal. The Wifi was OK and AT&T had 4-5 bars cell coverage. Laundry facility had 6 washers and 4 dryers all in working order. There was a lot for families: swimming pool, mini golf, jump pad, swings. A nice camp store and friendly service. We would stay again. We camped at Vernal / Dinosaurland KOA in a Motorhome.

Mountain Valley RV Resort, Heber City, Utah

Date of Stay: September, 2019 - $65.00
Overall Rating:

We stayed in sites S51 and S2 in the adults only section. This is a beautiful, well-maintained campground. It is one of the best I have stayed in after traveling for 6-7 months a year for the past 5 years. There are swimming pools and hot tubs in the family section and adults only section. There are also gas fire pits that the staff lights nightly. There is a workout room with weights, elliptical machines and a treadmill. This is our second year staying here and we will stay again. We camped at Mountain Valley RV Resort in a Motorhome.

Midway Bakery is awesome. Filler up coffee shop has gluten free and vegan items. Heber Valley Artisan Cheese (and ice cream) is worth a visit.

Rock Springs / Green River KOA, Rock Springs, Wyoming

Date of Stay: September, 2019 - $45.00
Overall Rating:

Busy campground, close to I-80 and next to an oil storage facility where almost all sites are gravel/rock. Entrance road is paved but all interior roads are gravel. We stayed one night this year and one night last year. It does seem to be less dusty this year than last. Many spots are buddy sites that face each other. I am not a fan of this arrangement and paid extra for an end site. There is a nice store with all of the basics. The laundry facility is clean and has 6 washers and 6 dryers ($2.50 for washer, $2.50 for dryer). There is an exercise room with one treadmill, one stationary bike, and one elliptical machine. There is a pool and playground and a dog park. Highway noise was not an issue. Long term residents are in a separate area at the rear of the park. Overall, it is OK for a night or two but I wouldn't want to stay for any length of time. We camped at Rock Springs / Green River KOA in a Motorhome.

Eagle RV Park, Thermopolis, Wyoming

Date of Stay: September, 2019 - $43.00
Overall Rating:

Smaller park with level gravel/rock sites. Sites are a bit small but the campground seems to be well run and clean. We had lots of shade, cable TV, good Wifi, 2 bars of AT&T LTE. The laundry room was clean and in good repair. 3 washers and 4 dryers. $1.75 for wash and $1.00 for dry. There was some road noise and train noise a couple of times a day. There were quite a few flies and gnats that became annoying. The campground is only a mile or so from town and about 2 miles to Hot Springs State park. A grocery store is less than a mile away. We would stay again. We camped at Eagle RV Park in a Motorhome.

Tips for other Campers:

We visited Hot Springs State park each day (3 days total) and enjoyed soaking in the mineral water. However, the sulphur smell didn't completely wash out of my swim trunks after one wash. One Eyed Buffalo Brewery food was average but the beer was good. Storyteller coffee shop had good Mochas, as well as, books, cards, toys.

Spring Creek Campground and Trout Ranch, Big Timber, Montana

Date of Stay: September, 2019 - $40.00
Overall Rating:

Great place to get away from everything. Very quiet and no light pollution. Sites are gravel and ours was not quite level. There is a river along one side of the campground with camp sites that have water and electric. There is a dump station on the exit road. Other sites have full hookups. I didn't really see a bad site in the park. Wifi was OK but we had no cell service (AT&T). NO cable or OTA TV. There is a small grocery store in Big Timber with semi-stocked shelves. There is also a larger Ace hardware that I had to visit twice for RV parts. We really liked it here and will visit again. We camped at Spring Creek Campground and Trout Ranch in a Motorhome.

Absaroka Bay RV Park, Cody, Wyoming

Date of Stay: August, 2019 - $39.00
Overall Rating:

Gravel/rock sites with grass between sites. Roads are asphalt. Sites are close and short. vehicle parking is sideways behind the RV. This makes maneuvering large vehicles around the park a bit difficult. There is a lot of traffic noise that can be annoying if you have windows open...tolerable with windows closed. Wifi was OK and AT&T cell was 3 bars of LTE. The laundry facility is large, clean and well equipped. $1.25 for wash and $0.75 to dry. Our biggest complaint was the sprinklers running every night and spraying the side of the motorhome leaving hard water spots that covered the side of the rig up to 6 feet high. I don't know why it is so difficult to adjust sprinklers at RV parks. I don't know if we would stay here again. We camped at Absaroka Bay RV Park in a Motorhome.

Tips for other Campers:

Albertson's and Ace hardware are a couple of blocks away. Walmart is on the other side of town. Cody Coffee Roasters has good coffee. Annie's Soda Saloon was quite good. Bighorn National Recreation Area and Pryor Mountain Wild Mustang Center were great. We loved seeing the mustangs. Buffalo Bill Center of the West is a must see but is large. I would recommend splitting it up into a couple of hours per day over 2 days. Tickets are good for 2 days. The firearms museum alone is overwhelming. Heart Mountain Interpretive Center is worth a visit. I gained a much deeper understanding of the WWII relocation camps.

Willow Bay Recreation Area, American Falls, Idaho

Date of Stay: August, 2019 - $41.00
Overall Rating:

Good sized level asphalt sites with grass between sites. Nice view of the lake. Good OTA TV. Wifi was OK. Site was not clean: dog poop, cigarette butts, trash in fire pit, a lot of flies and yellow jackets. There is a small store with fishing supplies, some camping items, a cafe for breakfast and lunch, boat and kayak rentals. Boat launch ramp on site. Some train noise. There is a nice paved walking/running/bicycling path that is about 4 miles long and goes to the town of American Falls. This would be a decent campground if it were cleaned regularly. We camped at Willow Bay Recreation Area in a Motorhome.

We drove to Lava Hot Springs Mineral Springs. It was 60 miles one way and we enjoyed the multiple pools of varying water temperatures. We visited Craters of the Moon National Monument but it was a long drive from here - about 120 miles one way. It wasn't worth the drive.

Countryside RV Park, LLC, Dillon, Montana

Date of Stay: August, 2019 - $40.00
Overall Rating:

Good level gravel sites with plenty of grassy space between. Large grassy areas to walk dogs and a grassy area with picnic tables and a fire pit. Quiet area without too much light but close to I-15. WiFi was good with our booster but marginal otherwise. Plenty of space for big rigs with room to maneuver. No OTA TV or cable but would be good for Satellite. DVD's on loan in the office. Laundry facility was good, 2 washers and 2 dryers...$1.50 to wash and $1.50 to dry. We camped at Countryside RV Park, LLC in a Motorhome.

Helena North KOA (formerly Lincoln Road RV Park), Helena, Montana

Date of Stay: August, 2019 - $41.00
Overall Rating:

Decent campground currently going through some improvements. Gravel sites that are a little narrow and a little dusty but OK for a few nights. They have a brand new fenced in dog park. Excellent WiFi. OTA TV is good. Fairly quiet. This is a good place to stock up on supplies. There is a Costco, Target, Walmart, large grocery stores, etc. We camped at Helena North KOA (formerly Lincoln Road RV Park) in a Motorhome.

Tips for other Campers:

Moose Junction, nearby, has good coffee and OK gluten free pizza. Cathedral of St Helena is impressive. We enjoyed the Great Northern Carousel in downtown Helena. Would be fun for kids or grandkids. Gates of the Mountains boat tour 15 min north of the KOA was interesting. It's a bit of a drive but the Lewis and Clark Interpretive Center in Great Falls was quite good.

Buck's Gas and RV park, Irwin, Idaho

Date of Stay: August, 2019 - $40.00
Overall Rating:

Small park at the back of a gas station and convenience store. The store has most of what you might need in the short term. The sites gravel/stone and range from a bit tight to average in size. There is some road noise but it is not a problem. The ladies working in the store were pleasant. There is a small laundry room that has 2 washers and dryers and is clean and everything is in working order. This is the second year we have stayed at Buck's. Last year we were in a 50 amp site. Those sites are a bit larger and we had no issues. This year we took a 30 amp site and it is a bit smaller. We have run successfully on 30 amps at many campgrounds and can run our 2 smaller air conditioners, refrigerator, water heater, etc in 85 degree weather without problems. Usually the water heater and air conditioners don't have full draw at the same time. However, Buck's 30 amp circuits were not able to allow us to run one air conditioner and our refrigerator reliably. The park breaker did not trip but at less than 20 amps the voltage sagged below 104VAC and our surge protector cut the circuit to protect our motor home. Dometic air conditioners are only rated to run at 103 volts on the low end. I spoke to the store clerks about the issue and the owner apparently said that people think they can camp on 30 amps but can't. The owner never talked to us about the issue and didn't investigate further. I don't know if we will stay at Buck's again but if we do it will be in a 50 amp site. We camped at Buck's Gas and RV park in a Motorhome.

Tips for other Campers:

Jackson, WY is a little over an hour drive. Grand Teton National Park is about 25 minutes more. The drive to Jackson is very pretty, it follows beside the Snake River on US89. The drive to Victor and Driggs is also pretty and those towns have a few restaurants, shops and coffee shops. The area south of Palisades dam on US26 is pretty and has several large Osprey nests with chicks this time of year. They are visible from turnouts on the road.

West Glacier KOA, West Glacier, Montana

Date of Stay: August, 2019 - $71.00
Overall Rating:

Very nice resort, well maintained and manicured. The sites are gravel, large and level. There were 2 pool areas, one for adults only and one for families. There is a restaurant and ice cream shop on the premises plus a well stocked camp and souvenir shop in the office. The staff was very pleasant and helpful. We stayed in 2 different sites after extending our stay. Site 187 was in the newer area and was very large but no shade. Site 138 was a bit smaller and in the original section so there was a more mature tree and some shade. AT&T cell reception was poor in site 187 (1 bar max) but better in site 138 (2-3 bars). Wifi was good near the office but useless anywhere else. The resort network needs some work. It is only 10 minutes to Glacier National Park so very convenient. There is a walking trail in the woods around part of the property. We camped at West Glacier KOA in a Motorhome.

Highly recommend Backslope Brewing in Columbia Falls. They have excellent food and good beer. The drive to Polebridge was quiet and enjoyable. Almost no traffic and a great bakery when you arrive at the Polebridge Mercantile. Huckleberry Patch on US2 in Hungry Horse had good milkshakes, ice cream and lava cake. Drive the Going to the Sun Road very early. We started at 7AM on a weekday and Logans Pass parking area was full with several vehicles circling aggressively when we arrived at 8AM.

Not much here unless you want to spend time at the beach. The park was overpriced and the Wifi worked sometimes during mid-day but was unusable otherwise. We stayed in a pull-thru site in a motorhome on July 25th, 2019. It was a bit overpriced. The sites are narrow and were very swampy overnight. The sprinklers ran for hours, flooding the grass, the site and our vehicles. They sprayed our motorhome 4 feet high leaving severe water spots on both sides.
