Sands RV and Golf Resort (55+ Park), Desert Hot Springs, California
Date of Stay:
January, 2019 -
$28.00
Overall Rating:
Very nice park that has just changed hands to Sun Resorts. They are improving the park. It is somewhat limited for long RVs. Ours is a 40 ft 5th wheel and we had trouble backing into the space. Very nice golf course and game area. Putting in brand new rebuilt pool and hot tubs. This rate is based on a monthly winter (high season) rate. All sites back in (no pull through). Easy access to Palm Springs activities at much lower price. Be sure to check out Indian Canyon. Beautiful with lots of palm trees. We camped at Sands RV and Golf Resort (55+ Park) in a Fifth Wheel.

Big River RV Park, Big River, California
Date of Stay:
December, 2018 -
$15.00
Overall Rating:
The rate is based on a monthly rate. We stayed for 2 months in Nov. and Dec. The park is right on the Colorado river dividing Arizona and California. All of the sites are back in sites and most are very hard to get into with a 5th wheel especially as long as ours. Most everyone is friendly in the park. The spaces have a decent amount of grass on your door side of the site for lawn chairs and tables. The town of Parker AZ is only about a 5 minute drive away with shopping (WalMart and hardware stores). The park suffers a little with poor management that apparently keeps changing. Because it's right on the river we understand that the summer weekends are packed with families and boats. There isn't much provided by the campground of activities or recreational facilities other than access to the river with a boat ramp. We camped at Big River RV Park in a Fifth Wheel.
If you are in the Lake Havasu / Colorado river area, be sure to visit Oatman, AZ. Small ghost/mining town that has rebirthed with shops and gunfights in the street demonstrations. You even get to feed the Burros roaming freely in the town. Also look up and go our to the Desert Bar off the Parker Strip. Great experience isolated in the desert with several restaurant areas, live bands, drinks and views of an old mining camp. 5 mile drive on gravel road but well worth the trip.
