Hope Oak Knoll Campground, Owatonna, Minnesota

Date of Stay: July, 2019 - $36.00
Overall Rating:

The people working at this campground were very nice and accommodating. The park has, what appeared to be, a lot of full-timers. Due to recent storms, the park was very muddy, and at night, the mosquitoes are vicious! There were plenty of nice grassy areas to walk the dogs, which was a blessing because our site was a slippery, muddy mess. They have a laundry room, which consisted of two washers and two dryers that were not high capacity. We requested the site closest to the laundry, which unfortunately, was also closest to the dumpsters, so we had some dumpster smell float into our rig. The park was very shady and quiet. This is a place that will work for an overnight stay to get some rest, but I wouldn't plan more than a day or two at this park. We camped at Hope Oak Knoll Campground in a Motorhome.

Stoney Creek RV Resort, Osseo, Wisconsin

Date of Stay: June, 2019 - $50.00
Overall Rating:

This is a very nice park with large sites and nice people working here. There are lots of activities and play areas for kids, to include a skate park. There are fees for wristbands to use the play areas. The site was nice and clean with FHU. They have a laundry room is clean, but there are only two washers with 6 dryers. The dryers are $1.50 each but run a long time and get the clothes dry in one cycle. They have showers; however, you must pay to use them. We would definitely stay here again. We camped at Stoney Creek RV Resort in a Motorhome.

Tips for other Campers:

There is a really cool antique shop called The Nickel just outside the park. We enjoyed browsing; they had a lot of neat stuff if you're into country antiques.

Lake Kegonsa State Park, Stoughton, Wisconsin

Date of Stay: June, 2019 - $44.00
Overall Rating:

This is a very pretty state park; however, in the summer there are a lot of flying biting bugs. I'm from Florida and used to biting bugs, but it was pretty bad at our site. Just be prepared! If you are from outside of the State of Wisconsin, be prepared to pay an $11 per night vehicle fee. If you are planning to stay longer than a few nights, you can purchase an annual vehicle pass for $38. The campsite was $35 a night (not including the vehicle fee) plus $7.50 online reservation fee. We did not learn about the vehicle fee for out of state campers until we arrived. I believe the young lady did us a favor and only charged us $11 for our towed vehicle - depending on whose working there, you may get charged $11 for the motorhome and a towed vehicle. We stayed in Site 91, which was a pull through; however, it was not level and leaned pretty good to the right. We had to move our rig around and did a lot of work getting it leveled without the front tires coming off the ground. The camp host was very nice and helped us find the dump and freshwater station. The station was average size and there were no problems. There is an easily accessible dump station near the entrance of the park. Because of the price and the vicious flying critters, I don't think this would be on the top of our list of places to revisit. We camped at Lake Kegonsa State Park in a Motorhome.

Clinton Lake State Recreation Area, Dewitt, Illinois

Date of Stay: June, 2019 - $20.00
Overall Rating:

This park is beautiful with about 300 sites. We stayed for 6 nights and stayed in two different sites. The first two nights we stayed in Loop A - Site 35, which was very nice; we only moved because our we didn't make reservations and decided to stay longer than planned. The remaining nights we stayed in Loop B, Site 23. Loop B is walk-up only - no reservations taken. They have a huge lake, which is beautiful with large boat ramps, bait/tackle shop, and restaurant. There are lots of deer in the area, and they were beautiful to watch. The camping loops have trails to the lake with docks for a boat and/or fishing. No overnight boat docking is allowed. Camp host #1 was very nice and helpful. The campground has a few sites with water and electric, but most sites have electric only. They have two large dump and fresh water stations with two lane each. The only negative was the showers...I have been in worse, but they could certainly use a good cleaning with bleach. Verizon cell service was available, but not great - I got one and two bars of service. We camped at Clinton Lake State Recreation Area in a Motorhome.

Tips for other Campers:

There is a large, very clean coin laundry in the town of Clinton about 9 miles from the site. There is Snappers Bar and Grill, which is a sports bar type of restaurant in the town square. They have good food at reasonable prices. Sorry, I can't remember the name, but you can't miss it.

Ferne Clyffe State Park, Goreville, Illinois

Date of Stay: June, 2019 - $20.00
Overall Rating:

Sites were clean and easy to access. The grass was a little overgrown, but not a major issue. We did pick up a tick while walking the dogs, but that's nature as far as we're concerned. The roads in the camping area are paved, and the sites are gravel and grass. Park ranger was off-duty when we arrived, so we selected a site and paid the ranger when he came by the next morning. All sites have, at least, 30 amp service, and antenna picked up the basic television channels. Strong Verizon cell service available. Very few sites have water close enough to access, but there was clean drinking water for fill up at the dump station. The dump station is large and easy to navigate in a larger rig. There were several hiking trails that looked pretty, but we didn't get a chance to walk them. Overall, this is a nice and quiet campground. We would definitely stay again. We camped at Ferne Clyffe State Park in a Motorhome.

Three Rivers State Park, Sneads, Florida

Date of Stay: June, 2019 - $17.00
Overall Rating:

This is a great park! We were only planning to stay one night, but decided to stay an extra day. Showers were very clean and well maintained. The park rangers and camp hosts were super friendly and very helpful. They were doing maintenance and repairs due to damage caused by Hurricane Michael, but this did not interfere with our enjoyment of the park. Roads were a little rough coming into the park due to logging trucks removing downed trees, but nothing that would cause a problem for any size RV coming in. Canoe rental for the day was $15.00, and it was well worth it. The only downside is there is no shade in the camping area - again likely due to the hurricane. We will definitely return to this park! We camped at Three Rivers State Park in a Motorhome.

Suwannee River State Park, Live Oak, Florida

Date of Stay: June, 2019 - $20.00
Overall Rating:

We arrived after the park ranger went off duty, but we easily found a site without a "reserved" sign attached to the site marker. The site was small but worked for a one-night stay with our 31 ft. Class C and a tow vehicle. Site had water and electric, and we had no problems. Our only complaint, and it's not really a complaint because it's just Florida reality, is ticks. Our dog walked through some scrubby weeds and got covered in baby ticks. Quite a nightmare bathing our English Bulldog at midnight. Like I said, this is not really a complaint, it's really just a warning to be careful where your dogs walk. When we pulled out the next morning, we still couldn't find a park ranger to pay for our stay and no instructions other than to return at 3:00 p.m., so we left $20.00 in the donation box. We would not hesitate to stay at this park again. We camped at Suwannee River State Park in a Motorhome.

Just Loafin RV Park, Samson, Alabama

Date of Stay: January, 2019 - $30.00
Overall Rating:

This is a small RV campground with few amenities, but the folks who run it are very friendly and helpful. The first night there, we were invited to sit around a campfire for a wiener roast. The sweet tea and company were great!! There's not much around Samson, but this is a safe and quiet place about 20 minutes from I-10 to stay for a night or two of rest while traveling. We camped at Just Loafin RV Park in a Motorhome.
