Tunnel Mountain Trailer Court Campground, Banff National Park, Alberta

Date of Stay: June, 2018 - $38.00
Overall Rating:

We had a beautiful view of Mt. Rundell from our campsite. It was easy to get in and out of the site. The utilities are well located. The staff was friendly. Be aware that you need to reserve many months in advance if you want to stay here. Saw Elk by moonlight several evenings. All in all a fantastic place to stay in Banff National Park. If you are going to see several Canadian National Parks, the Parks Canada Pass is worth it and will save you money. Be sure to take the back road to Lake Louise. You'll see more wildlife. Saw several bears on that road--one with a cub. Parking at Lake Louise is a zoo. Use the overflow off Highway 1 and take the shuttle bus! Moraine Lake is also beautiful and has a messy parking situation. Go late in the day! We camped at Tunnel Mountain Trailer Court Campground in a Travel Trailer.

St. Mary Campground (NPS Campground), Glacier National Park, Montana

Date of Stay: June, 2018 - $11.00
Overall Rating:

This CG has beautiful views of the mountains! Seems like you are RIGHT there. Lots of wildlife. A coyote and a deer wandered through our campsite. Many people saw foxes. No utilities but water is convenient. Good generator hours. Showers are clean but some of them don't have hot water. Interesting campfire programs at nights. Friendly staff. If you get here too early in June the Going to the Sun Road might not be plowed. You may only be able to drive part of it. The boat ride in ST. Mary Lake is really pretty. We camped at St. Mary Campground (NPS Campground) in a Travel Trailer.

Yellowstone Grizzly RV Park & Cabins, West Yellowstone, Montana

Date of Stay: June, 2018 - $78.00
Overall Rating:

Nice park with good landscaping and clean restrooms and showers. Pretty expensive. Helpful staff. Location is a couple blocks off the main street in West Yellowstone. Water connection is up off the ground and easy to trip over and break your connection on the end of your hose! Be aware that they assess a fine if you run over their sprinklers which are located right on the edge of the spaces. They should put them further back. We camped at Yellowstone Grizzly RV Park & Cabins in a Travel Trailer.

Tips for other Campers:

Near west entrance to Yellowstone National Park. Buy a pass, it's worth it. Otherwise, the entry fees are now pretty high.

Ponderosa Campground, Cody, Wyoming

Date of Stay: June, 2018 - $45.00
Overall Rating:

This CG is a decent value considering the prices in Cody and this part of Wyoming. It is, however, basically a big parking lot with narrow spaces that are hard to access. Although we ordered and confirmed a pull thru many months ahead, they did not "save" one for us. We had a back in that was difficult to access. Everyone is right on top of their neighbors. It would be a very unpleasant place in which to stay for a long period of time. That said, the showers and restrooms were clean and nice. And it is close to the rodeo grounds. They don't take any credit cards. Cash only. The owners did call us the day we were to arrive and gave us some good tips for how to get there. I appreciated that as our GPS gave funny directions on the drive from Devil's Tower to Cody. If you have 30 amp like us, be sure to bring an adapter. We camped at Ponderosa Campground in a Travel Trailer.

Devils Tower / Black Hills KOA, Devils Tower, Wyoming

Date of Stay: June, 2018 - $65.00
Overall Rating:

This is a nice park with a "dead on" view of mysterious, awesome Devil's Tower. The pull thru space was easy to access. The restrooms and showers were clean and well kept. The customer service was great. They sent someone with an air compressor the morning we checked to air up some low tires. The rate I put in my review is approximate as it has now been a few months since our stay but am pretty sure we paid in the mid $60's. Would stay here again if we ever visited Devil's Tower. We camped at Devils Tower / Black Hills KOA in a Travel Trailer.

Tips for other Campers:

Devil's Tower is just a short drive up the road. The entrance fee is $20 which seems high because the park doesn't have much in terms of services but the view is out of this world! If you are visiting several National Parks, invest in a pass. That way, you aren't paying $20 to just drive up and look at a simple visitor center.

Custer State Park - Game Lodge Campground, Custer, South Dakota

Date of Stay: June, 2018 - $34.00
Overall Rating:

Custer is a beautiful state park with LOTs of wildlife--bison, pronghorn, elk, deer, coyote, and more. The camp hosts here are very helpful. The sites are level and relatively easy to back into. The only utility is electricity. Don't miss taking the game loop road especially at dawn or dusk to see lots of wildlife. Ask in the Visitor Center to find out where the "big bison herd" is located. A sight not to be missed--especially when they cross the road. We camped at Custer State Park - Game Lodge Campground in a Travel Trailer.

Don't miss driving to Mount Rushmore on the windy road with one-lane tunnels. The badlands is about 100 miles away but makes a nice day trip.

North Sterling State Park, Sterling, Colorado

Date of Stay: June, 2018 - $34.00
Overall Rating:

The park is in a bleak location but lots of wildlife, especially birds and deer. The pull thru sites are very hard to access; they are curved and each has one or sometimes two tight turns. Only utility is electricity. The showers didn't work well (no water pressure in women's and a flood in the men's). And you paid for the bad showers. OK place for an overnight but probably wouldn't stay again. We camped at North Sterling State Park in a Travel Trailer.
