Columbia Falls RV Park, Columbia Falls, Montana

Date of Stay: June, 2019 - $27.00
Overall Rating:

First, the price was for a month stay which was $795 plus electricity for the month. The cost will be much higher for a night stay. This park's fees are much lower than parks closer to the National Park. The staff are very friendly and will go out of their way to assist in any way they can. The park is located right in town and everything you may need is just a 10-minute walk away, that is if you like Smith's grocery store. There is a Walmart about 20 minutes south in Kalispell. The park main attraction is it is very near to Whitefish (ski resort and town) and the Glacier National Park. This park is easy in and out. The sites are closer than I like, and in some of the sites, the sewer connection for your neighbor is just feet from your door and picnic table. The sites are gravel with grass in between. They guide you in when you arrive (100%) and ensure you are not on the grass. If you have a large rig you may have a little trouble getting into your site as the roads are slightly narrow and some of the parked vehicles may encroach onto the road. The park is well maintained and all amenities worked including the WiFi. We carry both ATT and Verizon hotspots, the ATT did better than Verizon here. If I were to come back to the area I would stay here again. We camped at Columbia Falls RV Park in a Motorhome.

Tips for other Campers:

Hard to believe there is a good Mexican restaurant here, Vaqueros. It is only four blocks away. We ate there three times in one month. We tried something different each time, each time it was excellent.

Fort Harrison RV Park (Military FamCamp), Fort William Henry Harrison, MT, Montana

Date of Stay: May, 2019 - $21.00
Overall Rating:

Customer Service Fail. Came in before 2:00 pm, the check-in time. Even if I could not check in I would have liked to have placed the vehicle in the space they were going to put me in. I was there for over an hour before they told me the site, I still had to wait until 2:00 to check-in and get the key to unlock the services. Camp Host is very helpful and friendly. The Fam Camp is small and well maintained. Sites slightly unlevel. Easy to get around only three roads in the fam camp. Came in south gate, they recommend north-gate as it is meant for commercial trucks. You will have to call the main-gate and a policeman will open gate for you. We camped at Fort Harrison RV Park (Military FamCamp) in a Motorhome.

Countryside RV Park, LLC, Dillon, Montana

Date of Stay: May, 2019 - $34.00
Overall Rating:

Nice park south of Dillon. Sites are level. Quiet, about a mile from I-15. Customer service was very good. We pulled in without a reservation. We stayed one evening and left the next morning. Easy entry and exit to get back to the interstate. This RV park is surrounded by snow-capped mountains. Will go back if the opportunity occurs. We camped at Countryside RV Park, LLC in a Motorhome.

Buffalo Meadows RV Park (Fort Hall Casino Campground), Fort Hall, Idaho

Date of Stay: May, 2019 - $34.00
Overall Rating:

Nice RV park supported by Casino. Both the RV park and the Casino appear to be new. The roads on the bark are blacktop and the sites are gravel with grass separating each site. the utilities were toward the back of the site, so you may need longer hoses or sewer pipes. The casino is only a couple of hundred feet and they have a good buffet and free drink stations in the casino itself. They had excellent hot chocolate. We had very limited Verizon and ATT Cell here. I would stay here again. We camped at Buffalo Meadows RV Park (Fort Hall Casino Campground) in a Motorhome.

Wendover Nugget RV Park, Wendover, Nevada

Date of Stay: May, 2019 - $35.00
Overall Rating:

Called to make a reservation and asked about pull through. I was told on the phone they did. We arrived earlier this afternoon and the RV park looks like it was abandoned. There are no pull throughs. You have to go into the Nugget to check in after you have found a site that the electricity and water are working. The front desk people had no idea what a pull through is. They could not find the paperwork needed and insisted that I do not leave until it is filled out. The process took about 15 minutes. There are homeless people living in the caves within 50 yards of the park and there is no fence. We do not feel safe here. We will not stay in this park again. We camped at Wendover Nugget RV Park in a Motorhome.

New Frontier RV Park, Winnemucca, Nevada

Date of Stay: April, 2019 - $40.00
Overall Rating:

Called and asked about discounts they had. I was told they had both Good Sams and military. After I had paid and setup I found out they were a Passport America affiliate also. I enquired and they stated that the cost of $15 is only if you use a back in site, not a pull through. I wish that I had been given the option to choose. That was my only let down. The park looks new and well taken care of. Hookups were nice and the sites are almost level. It didn't take my leveler much time to do its job. There is a small casino just outside of the park that had a restaurant (we didn't eat there) and a small casino area. The games they had were very wide-ranging and my wife and I had a good time playing them. The views from the RV park are great with mountains surrounding us on almost all sides. I would stay here again, especially using my Passport America discount. We camped at New Frontier RV Park in a Motorhome.

Sparks Marina RV Park, Sparks, Nevada

Date of Stay: April, 2019 - $42.00
Overall Rating:

Best park I have stayed in. Level pads, artificial turf separating each site, blacktop roads. Three really nice dog areas with bags provided. The roads are wide and easily traveled. The RV park is in an upper scale area of SParks and the outdoor mall is just a short walk from the park, but I would suggest a car if you are going to buy anything. I would not hesitate to stay here again if I am in the area. We camped at Sparks Marina RV Park in a Motorhome.

Trade Winds RV Park of Vallejo, Vallejo, California

Date of Stay: April, 2019 - $46.00
Overall Rating:

Pulled off the highway (I-80 south) to a very short turnoff ramp, be careful you don't have much room to slow down. As you drive on the frontage road to the RV park, you will see some vehicles, which look like there are homeless people living in them. The park roads are narrow, but the pull-throughs are at a good angle to get your rig parked. The site was level. My leveler was doing nothing more than stabilizing the rig. Dog park in the back corner that had nice cut grass with bags provided. On one side of the park, you had a very dilapidated mobile home park. Behind was a lower income neighborhood, and to the other side was an extended stay motel. The area was not one I was very comfortable in and we did have one person passing through asking us if they could use our AC to charge their phone. The people working there were very nice and made the check-in pleasant. I was not impressed with the city of Vallejo (which the RV park can do nothing about) and will not stay in this area again. We camped at Trade Winds RV Park of Vallejo in a Motorhome.

Tips for other Campers:

Please be careful getting off of I-80, both the entrance and exit ramps are short with no warning that they end after just a few feet after a very tight turn. We ate at two very great local restaurants. One in the downtown area of Vallejo is Frymazing, a Korean Chinese cuisine. The other is Kehualani's Cafe. This is a Hawaiian Filipino cuisine socializing in breakfast and brunch foods. You should also visit the Jelly Belly plant for a tour up north.

Thousand Trails - San Benito Preserve, Paicines, California

Date of Stay: April, 2019
Overall Rating:

First, I am a thousand Trail member so the cost was $0.00. Let's touch on positives first: The staff were friendly and receptive to when you inquired about the park. I had a leaky water bib which they came to repair shortly after reporting it. A county store was on site otherwise the closest store is about 8 miles away. The area is beautiful and there is an abundance of wildlife, squirrels, rabbits, woodpeckers, boars, deer, bobcat, fox and I am sure there are others, those are just ones that we saw. Now for the not so good: The roads are tight with large traffic bumps in the attempt to keep people from going over 5mph. A good number of the sites are tight and hard to get into and out of as the parked cars encroach into the road. The sites are weeds, stickers, and not level. The sewer hookup is hidden in the weeds and hard to find. The roads are all rock and dirt and every car and truck that go by ensures your home and vehicle are covered with dust. The dog park is large and free of stickers but has many holes from ground squirrels and the annuals take an inordinate amount of time with their large dogs that they do not control if and when they harass or worse to a small dog. The park is the only place you can take your dog within the campground and be pretty sure they will not come back with matted hair from the stickers. The path in and out of the park is very steep and windy, luckily it is only about a third of a mile long. This park is very isolated and ATT cell is nonexistent and Verizon barely operates. We got no channels on over the air TV, but some did receive two or three. There are a number of people, who I assume are Thousand Trail members, that travel every three weeks back and forth from this campground and the one up north in Morgan Hill. I can state we will not travel back to this park. There is a lot of nature, so get out and walk the park and the nature trail they have. We camped at Thousand Trails - San Benito Preserve in a Motorhome.

Bakersfield RV Resort, Bakersfield, California

Date of Stay: April, 2019 - $49.00
Overall Rating:

This resort is adjacent to a thoroughfare and railroad track is just across the road on one side. You do hear the traffic every now and then and the train but there were only a small number of trains each day. Check-in was a breeze and they gave us a warm cookie and some oranges. Our site was easy to get to, even though the roads are not really wide they have the sites at a steep angle so it is easy to pull through. The site I was assigned did not allow me to also have the TOAD on the dolly within the site. I did have to drop it. There was plenty of space to park though. All the neighbors were nice and the restaurant that is on site is fantastic. I had a taco salad that was very fresh. It is nice having a full-service restaurant on site as you can walk there and then walk back home in a minute or two. The amenities were nice, they had a pool, hot tub, and excersise room. they were limited for a playground for small children and they did not have a dog park. We would definitely return here if we ever stay in Bakersfield again. We camped at Bakersfield RV Resort in a Motorhome.

Thousand Trails - Palm Springs RV Resort, Palm Desert, California

Date of Stay: April, 2019 - $54.00
Overall Rating:

This park is very tight to move an RV around in. If you have a TOAD, you should disconnect outside of the park. They do have a location inside but it tight getting to it. This applies more to dollies than flat towing as you will scrub your tires getting in here. This park is very dusty. It dust looks like sand but it is dirty and if you have a dog, plan on having that brought in each time your dog enters your home. The employees are friendly and helpful. The sites are tight and you have to pick out your own. They are always the worse ones as campers will move into the better ones as previous campers move out. Like a lot of thousand trails, it also appears that people save slots for each other, as when you pull in they tell you-you can camp at any open site unless it has a paper saying that it is taking or has someone's items left there as if they left. The interstate is 100 yards away and on the opposite side of that is a major thoroughfare for freight trains. Trains go by every 20 minutes or so. the one good thing is there are no crossings so they do blow their horn all the time. Sites are just large enough to handle large homes but not parking. This is a very small overcrowded park. I will probably not stay here again. We camped at Thousand Trails - Palm Springs RV Resort in a Motorhome.

Holiday Palms RV Park, Quartzsite, Arizona

Date of Stay: April, 2019 - $38.00
Overall Rating:

Arrived around 11:00 am in the morning. They had our package ready and asked if there were any questions. The ladies at the front desk were very professional. Our location was at the front of the park, away from the interstate. I walked the park and found the back end was very sparsely populated. I can only assume this park is very full during The RV Show as this is without question the best park in town. Most everything is closed at this time of the year. The Herb's Hardware store was open and had a large selection of items that RV'ers may need or WANT. I would stay here again. We camped at Holiday Palms RV Park in a Motorhome.

Casa Grande RV Resort , Casa Grande, Arizona

Date of Stay: April, 2019 - $47.00
Overall Rating:

We stayed in the overnight section in the middle of the park. This is a nice location as you are near the pool, dog park, pickleball courts, and other amenities. We had good power, water, and sewer hookups. The site was level and packed with very small stone covered with a concrete patio. There is no picnic table. What I did not like: They now charge for dogs, $3.00 a day per dog. There is no benefit except the dog park which was already there. This was a brand new policy and supposedly the entire area of Arizona is trying to make additional money by charging this amount. It is NOT listed on their website and I attempted to talk them out of it, to no avail. I did talk to others at the dog park who refused to pay and did not have any repercussions. Not a happy time when over 80% of RV's have animals with them. It feels like a money grab as it is not a company policy. We camped at Casa Grande RV Resort in a Motorhome.
