Catalina State Park, Tucson, Arizona

Date of Stay: June, 2019 - $30.00
Overall Rating:

Stayed 2 nights. Site was fairly level, paved asphalt & long enough for MH and tow. Hookups were well placed. The staff lady was very nice and check-in was quick and simple. The park itself is top notch. Quiet, clean, mountain views are stunning and there are walking trails everywhere. Thankful I was here but wish I could have stayed here longer because I feel I missed a lot. Would stay here again if in this area. We camped at Catalina State Park in a Motorhome.

Dazzo's Desert Oasis (formerly Dazzo's Restaurant & RV Park), Wikieup, Arizona

Date of Stay: June, 2019 - $18.00
Overall Rating:

Stayed 1 night on way from Tucson to Vegas. Worked well for an over night'er but kinda of a strange setup. Our site (no number) was wide and sandwiched between the restroom/shower and two pull trailers (looked to be long term). It's a small dirt park with mostly perms. 50 amp, water & sewer were good. There's a good little restaurant run by the owner which is very reasonably priced and the staff was friendly and helpful. Not a place I'd stay to relax, but for overnight it worked. We camped at Dazzo's Desert Oasis (formerly Dazzo's Restaurant & RV Park) in a Motorhome.

Not much in Wikieup but the view was pretty nice. Italian sausage is really good a Dazzo's.

Galveston Island State Park, Galveston, Texas

Date of Stay: May, 2019 - $30.00
Overall Rating:

Weird set-up. Checked in on one side of a 4 lane highway and site was on the other side. Camp staff was not overly welcoming and they didn't even offer us a park map. They showed me how to get to my site on a park map and sent on my way. That was a first for us. Site was fairly level asphalt and E/W connections well place. Site itself was rather small (neighbors pretty close). No trees just grass & weeds. All in all, not a place I would return to, especially because the price, for what you get + for out of state campers is a 'bit' high, IMO. For one thing, paying for your site does not include the $5.00 per day, per person, "day use pass" which is needed to access the beach area. Camped here for 2 days in 41ft Motorhome w/toad & won't return. We camped at Galveston Island State Park in a Motorhome.
