John Budd Memorial Park, South Baymouth, Ontario

Date of Stay: September, 2019 - $1.00
Overall Rating:

It is easy to miss the park. It is 5 minutes from the ferry, across Hy 6 from Carol and Earl's restaurant. It is very primitive, but has washrooms which we didn't use due to the distance from our campsite. We camped in a 23 foot trailer. Large RVs would have difficulty getting into the sites. Good for an overnight stay before or after the ferry ride. Price posted for overnight is $30 Canadian. But we were told no one collects. We stayed for free. We camped at John Budd Memorial Park in a Travel Trailer.

Tips for other Campers:

Eat at Carol and Earl's across Hy 6. We met the owners. They were very friendly. There is a harbor with a small lighthouse. Watch the ferry arrive and leave. There is a grid of hiking trails with street signs. It looks like plans to enlarge the town.

Fort Belvoir Travel Camp (Military FamCamp), Fort Belvoir, Virginia

Date of Stay: June, 2019 - $50.00
Overall Rating:

The campground is well maintained but does not allow any yard art or anything on the lawn. Our GPS directed us into the back gate, which requires a combination to open. Registration is at the Outdoor Recreation site about 1/2 mile outside the front entrance. We had to ask directions. Our site backed up to the Potomac River. We made reservations 6 months in advance. We camped at Fort Belvoir Travel Camp (Military FamCamp) in a Travel Trailer.

Ameristar Vicksburg RV Park, Vicksburg, Mississippi

Date of Stay: March, 2019 - $25.00
Overall Rating:

Spent 4 nights, didn't use the Casino. We recieved the Good Sam's discount for being retired military. We were at a 30 amp only site, these are more available than the 50 amp sites. All sites included cable TV. Wifi did not work well. We used our Verizon jet pack. We requested a site close to the bathrooms and were only 2 sites away. There is also a large concrete lot, without hookups, where rigs can overnight for free. We camped at Ameristar Vicksburg RV Park in a Travel Trailer.

Tips for other Campers:

Lots to do. Very interesting civil war battle field. Museums we visited were Court House, Coke a Cola and Mississippi IV River Motor Vessel (tug boat). All were good, the tug boat was free.

Davis Mountains State Park, Fort Davis, Texas

Date of Stay: February, 2019 - $20.00
Overall Rating:

The site was small but we fit our 23 foot trailer and truck by hanging the back end of the trailer off the pad. The turn-around at the end of the road was very tight for any trailer over about 25 feet. The picnic table and fire ring were on the wrong side of the trailer. A lot of sites were set up that way. Sewer available at some sites. The web site for making reservations was confusing, only allowing a tent to be selected. There are full hookup and electric/water only. We made reservations late, so only electric/water sites were available. Showers were hot with plenty of pressure. Lots to do. Many of the trails allow mt biking, but most are quite difficult. Beautiful sunset at the top of road inside the park. McDonald observatory is a must. Great night event, but expect it to be cold in the winter. Even the Tuesday night mid February was very busy. Wild bird blinds set up with feeders. Lots of birds. No dinner. Wifi at Black Bear restaurant and ranger's station. No Verizon cell service. We camped at Davis Mountains State Park in a Travel Trailer.

Bonita Canyon Campground, Chiricahua Natl Mon, Willcox, Arizona

Date of Stay: February, 2019 - $10.00
Overall Rating:

Sites are small and some are hard to back into with a trailer. We picked a site our trailer would fit. National monument entry is free. Beautiful scenery and sunset from the top at the end of the road. Most trails are quite steep, but one from campground to Visitor's center is flat. Very friendly park host who came to speak to us when we were setting up. No water at site, but faucets were nearby. No Verizon cell service, but wifi is available inside the Visitor's Center. We sat in the movie area to use it. We had to leave a day early due to 8 inches of snow in forecast. We got a one night refund. We camped at Bonita Canyon Campground, Chiricahua Natl Mon in a Travel Trailer.
