Cowtown RV Park, Aledo, Texas

Date of Stay: November, 2019 - $37.00
Overall Rating:

Usual full time clutter. Bath house nice but only 2 people can use at a time. Close to interstate. Concrete pad was not quite level. BBQ grill too lopsided to use. We camped at Cowtown RV Park in a Travel Trailer.

Castaic Lake RV Park, Castaic, California

Date of Stay: November, 2019 - $50.00
Overall Rating:

Very nice pool, hot tub, bathrooms, store, and laundry. 90% full timers with usual patio furniture. Temp spots are near entrance which makes them a little noisy. You can hear the highway and the exit is popular with semis. We camped at Castaic Lake RV Park in a Travel Trailer.

Downstream RV Park, Quapaw, Oklahoma

Date of Stay: October, 2019 - $25.00
Overall Rating:

Used this as a Route 66 stop as we explored the Kansas section. We stayed at the park near the Q store. Basically a concrete parking lot with hookups. Both my wife and I got players cards so they gave us two nights free, and invited us back to stay for free after a week. There is a shuttle that will come right to your site and take you to the store, casino, or golf course. Go to your site, set up, find the number, go to the casino and get a players card, then go register at the Q store. We stayed and played the free $7/ea they gave us on the Players Cards and ate at the buffet. We camped at Downstream RV Park in a Travel Trailer.

Fort Amarillo RV Resort, Amarillo, Texas

Date of Stay: October, 2019 - $38.00
Overall Rating:

The wind blew the stink from the thousands of cows in pens just west of here and the urine smell was overwhelming today. Water pressure was pretty low. No grass in the lots. The water feature looked like a work in progress. Never saw anyone near it. Didn't use any of the amenities. We camped at Fort Amarillo RV Resort in a Travel Trailer.

Fort Massac State Park, Metropolis, Illinois

Date of Stay: June, 2019 - $20.00
Overall Rating:

This park is about 5 minutes away from the highway in the town of Metropolis. Campsites were spacious, level, packed dirt and gravel, and just big enough to pull both my 30' trailer and pickup into the spot. There were just enough trees to add partial shade without hitting the RV, and all had a fire pit and a weather-worn picnic table. There is no sewer or water at the sites, but I stayed at Loop 1, Site 13 which was within 60 feet of a water spigot so it was easy for me to hook up my hose and get water when needed (I could not keep my water hose hooked up though.) Some areas around the park were flooded from the recent rains, and I was told it floods pretty regularly in the winter. Most of the camping spots were pretty dry though. The trails in the park were unpassable when we were there, but we could still visit the fort and its small museum on site which was well maintained. We used this as a base camp to explore Metropolis, Paducah, and the Shawnee Forest. We camped at Fort Massac State Park in a Travel Trailer.

Really enjoyed the Garden of the Gods, Kincaid Mounds, the wineries and breweries in the area, and of course, the Superman statue and museum in Metropolis.
