Lake Bob Sandlin State Park, Pittsburg, Texas

Date of Stay: March, 2019 - $17.00
Overall Rating:

Beautiful! Spaces are great and spacious. Initially we were going to stay for 5 days, but when we got there we decided to stay longer - for a total of 9 nights. There are great trails to walk, and a great swimming area... for when it's warmer. Turtles sun themselves on rocks and logs which are just the cutest little guys ever. The staff was super friendly! No sewer hookup, but there's a dump station that is clean, easy to get to, and has 2 dump sites for busy times. (Sunday at noon there were 6 vehicles in line, so keep that for consideration.) Well kept, and great. Absolutely worth checking out. We camped at Lake Bob Sandlin State Park in a Motorhome.

Tips for other Campers:

There's a catfish restaurant about 2 miles down the road that is open Thurs-Sun, I think. We went there for all-you-can-eat shrimp/catfish.

East Fork COE, Wylie, Texas

Date of Stay: January, 2019 - $30.00
Overall Rating:

This place is, well, bad. I really wanted to like it, but it's incredibly expensive, and it's very trashy. The amount of potholes is no joke - at first we thought, whatever, it's just the road, but if you stay a couple days and do errands, or anything like that, you'll absolutely hate it by the end. It's also expensive for what it is with only one really awful dump site. Fences were broken down, there were huge pieces of concrete that had fallen into the lake, it was... weird. It was as though it had never been taken care of, ever. Everything was dead since we visited in January, but even so there were weeds taking over everything. It felt like a trailer park, not a COE for 30 bucks a night. With so many other options close by, check something else out and avoid this. Don't go here. Don't. We camped at East Fork COE in a Motorhome.
