Columbus-Belmont State Park, Columbus, Kentucky

Date of Stay: April, 2019 - $22.00
Overall Rating:

Park was very nicely kept. Camp host was very friendly and accommodating. That was the good. When we arrived, about 5PM which is after hours, there weren't any signs to direct us to an office or camp host. Fortunately, the camphost/hostess pulled up behind us. They directed us to our site. We were woken at 5AM by loud talking and laughing! Apparently there was a running marathon that day and 50 to 100 runners were directed through the campground area!! Mind you this park is huge and has many trails and paths they could have used. I spoke with the assistant park manager who clearly understood how I felt and he suggested that I speak with the park manager. Eventually I found her and when I mentioned that I had spoke with her assistant, she said she was aware and walked away. Apparently they do two of these marathons a year, unannounced and not on their events calendar. So I give the park good grades, but the park manager an "F". We camped at Columbus-Belmont State Park in a Motorhome.

Red Top Mountain State Park & Lodge, Acworth, Georgia

Date of Stay: March, 2019 - $40.00
Overall Rating:

Very tight roads for any motorhome over 32 feet. Leveling on most sites is difficult due to the terrain. No WiFi. Cable was useless with all channels pixelated. If you have satellite TV it is near impossible to get with the trees especially now in the Spring. Verizon service is good. Asked for assistance with cable and was promised some but never happened. Dump station is at the intersection of two roads. When coming out of one the station is directly in front of you and across the road. You have to make a wide swing passing it and then back up to it. From the other road it is a straight shot. Not well placed from the lower number camp sites. Bathrooms were clean. Family bath shower control handle disappeared one day. No one knew about it until reported. No hot water at the sinks for shaving or washing. Sink faucets are automatic so no temp control. Small issues but not real convenient for face washing and shaving. We camped at Red Top Mountain State Park & Lodge in a Motorhome.
