Thousand Trails / Pio Pico, Jamul, California

Date of Stay: May, 2019 - $70.00
Overall Rating:

Hope you like screaming kids, loud music, fast cars, bright lights, drunks, and dilapidated vehicles. This park is going even further downhill fast. It is quickly turning into a homeless camp. People that can't afford the high rents of San Diego are buying cheap campers and living here full-time. Children run amok without supervision, parents sit around drinking at all hours or simply leave for the day while the kids roam, I think one of the female 'residents' is engaged in one of the oldest professions, trash is left all over, none of the park rules are enforced. If you go to the on-site manager he is quick to tell you he's been at the park for 19 years and everything is fine and will even change the rules for the benefit of his favorite campers. There are people fixing their vehicles on the grounds, there are people living out of vans, there are random dudes that cruise the roads and stare at women and children. There are super loud motorcycles and diesel trucks at all hours. The one section of the park where there was peace and quiet and an adult pool and the quiet sounds of nature is now gone. The North side is known as the area where people hiding from the law live. The South side used to be better but is quickly falling into disrepair. Don't let the membership department lure you into leasing an annual site, it's an unethical sales pitch. Promises will be made but never kept. It's sad. The nature that surrounds this park is amazing and beautiful. Such a shame that Pio Pico just can't hold itself to higher and safer standards. Save your sanity and find someplace else. The cheapest motel in southern California would be cleaner, safer, and quieter than this place. We camped at Thousand Trails / Pio Pico in a Fifth Wheel.
