Indianapolis KOA, Greenfield, Indiana

Date of Stay: September, 2019 - $58.00
Overall Rating:

My problem with KOA is how expensive they are. The same park not part of KOA would be much cheaper. This one is fine and the person working check in was amazing. Been on the road 7 months and this was the last stop so in comparing to the other 67 campgrounds I stayed at on this trip, it would be a fair deal at about $45. We camped at Indianapolis KOA in a Motorhome.

Jefferson County Fair Park, Jefferson, Wisconsin

Date of Stay: September, 2019 - $43.00
Overall Rating:

The primary function of this place is not as an RV park. It looks like an awesome fairgrounds and the annual Gemuetlichkeit Days that was going on while I was there drew quite a crowd. Had to pay an extra $10/person because you needed the ticket to get into the RV park during the festival. The full hook up section is kind of a strange set up especially for big rigs. I was able to back up a 40' between hook ups but was concerned of sinking in the wet grass. It wasn't busy and another big rig parked along the hook ups, taking up about 6 spots, but it wasn't crowded so it wasn't an issue. Price is too high for what you get, but the grounds are very nice and large... great place to let the dog off leash. I'd stop again. We camped at Jefferson County Fair Park in a Motorhome.

Country Roads Motorhome & RV Park, Lake Delton, Wisconsin

Date of Stay: September, 2019 - $40.00
Overall Rating:

Very friendly people in this older park. You can get a sense that most of the development occurred in the 70s or so and it's been kind of kept up since then. It's a little tired looking and my first impressions weren't great, but I grew to like it over a short 2 night stay. Parking sites are very narrow, but yards are spacious. Utilities worked well. Satellite was a problem, but they moved us to where we could get it. Not much OTA signal. Resident/Staff are very friendly and helpful. We camped at Country Roads Motorhome & RV Park in a Motorhome.

Stoney Creek RV Resort, Osseo, Wisconsin

Date of Stay: September, 2019 - $37.00
Overall Rating:

This park was quite a surprise. It is excellently planned out, developed, and maintained. Paved roads are wide. Sites are gravel and each has a concrete patio. Sites are large and lots of trees give a sense of privacy. There is a lot of open space, wooded space, and activities. There are lots of activities for both young and older kids including pool, very impressive skate park, air bag, mini-golf, pond with beach, basketball court, and a laser tag field. But even if you don't have kids, this place is great. There is a lot of obvious pride in this place and I really enjoyed a short stay. I'd stay longer if back in the area. We camped at Stoney Creek RV Resort in a Motorhome.

Grand Casino Hinckley RV Resort, Hinckley, Minnesota

Date of Stay: September, 2019 - $42.00
Overall Rating:

I stayed at this large casino RV park over Labor Day, so it was very busy and full. It is a nice park with paved sites and large roads. Check in was easy. Site was good except for a broken sewer connection which had no threads and was too high. Lots of space around for walks. Some sites are tight and trees may interfere with satellite in some sites. I'd stay here again for a short stay, but there isn't much to do in the area if you don't gamble. We camped at Grand Casino Hinckley RV Resort in a Motorhome.

Dakotah Meadows RV Park, Prior Lake, Minnesota

Date of Stay: September, 2019 - $38.00
Overall Rating:

Rate is for a weekly stay. Description of park is accurate in the other reviews and overall, it's a nice park. Well maintained, generally good sites, pretty good option if you want to visit the Mall of America or the Twin Cities. I requested a satellite site but they don't have that information. It's hit or miss if you have a stationary dish. OTA channels were plentiful. No Cable. Wi-fi was adequate. Two issues: they charge $5 for the key to use for laundry and bathrooms and you get $3 or something back when you return it. Seemed tacky to me. Also, in making the reservation, I reserved a back in site which are more expensive because they are roomier and you don't share your yard with another. On arrival, I was assigned a pull through. When I told them I reserved a back in, the reply was that they didn't have any back ins available and that the pull through was cheaper anyway... Reminded me of Jerry Seinfeld differentiating between TAKING a reservation and KEEPING a reservation. If they tweaked a few issues, this could be a 10/10 park. We camped at Dakotah Meadows RV Park in a Motorhome.

Burlington Bay Campground, Two Harbors, Minnesota

Date of Stay: August, 2019 - $45.00
Overall Rating:

This is a municipal park in a great location with beautiful views of Burlington Bay. I stayed in the new section across the street which is three levels all overlooking the bay. I was on the first level so had an unobstructed view of the lake. All sites in the new section have hook ups on both sides so trailers and 5th wheels can back in and class As can pull in for the best views. The back two rows would also provide a view of RVs. Many of the sites in the original section are also on the lake, but access to the lake wasn't as convenient. There is a nice beach across the street from the new section. Sites are large and utilities worked well. Good satellite and OTA signals. WiFi is very good. Water pressure seems very high. It's within walking distance of the town and the other bay. We camped at Burlington Bay Campground in a Motorhome.

Tips for other Campers:

Check out Agate Bay and the many placards that provide information. It's within walking distance.. just follow the path across the street up the shoreline. There used to be quite a coal operation there and ore is still shipped out. Fascinating to see the remnants of a very busy industrial area from 100 years ago.

Grand Portage Lodge and Casino, Grand Portage, Minnesota

Date of Stay: August, 2019 - $45.00
Overall Rating:

Previous review is spot on. I would add that it's poorly designed, poorly managed, and poorly maintained. I struggled to get anyone to make a reservation and when I finally did, they don't ask what you're bringing or what size you are. Most sites are back in but there are a few pull throughs. My site was uneven and the sewer hookup looked to have been just half way repaired and the fitting had no threads or cap. There was a plastic pail over it. WiFi was pretty good when it worked, but it went out frequently (several times a day) and would stay off for anywhere between 5 minutes and several hours. Day is $45; Week is $200; Month is $500. Pretty good deal for a week or a month, but overpriced for what it is for a day. I stayed 4 days and it was almost as much as a week. Many people seem to leave their units there and just come on weekends. The location and view (from some sites but not all) are beautiful. We camped at Grand Portage Lodge and Casino in a Motorhome.

Ogston's RV Park, Saginaw, Minnesota

Date of Stay: August, 2019 - $42.00
Overall Rating:

This is an interesting park. Looks like it's been around a while and I'm not sure, but it may be an old aggregate mining site that produced some small lakes and then came a campground. It's spacious and the lakes are pretty. There is a lot of land and lots of paths if you can find them off the back area of the park. The paint on most things is faded and old, but it adds to the charm. There is some goose poop, but it wasn't as bad as I thought it would be from a previous review. There are mosquitos too... it's Minnesota in the summer. Some OTA channels, good satellite, & good Wifi. Lots of permanent sites which are maintained well. We camped at Ogston's RV Park in a Motorhome.

Wildwedge Golf and RV Park, Pequot Lakes, Minnesota

Date of Stay: August, 2019 - $35.00
Overall Rating:

Sites here are spacious and private. The least spacious and private would be the pull through sites 23-31, but still bigger and more private than most RV Parks. 23-31 are grass pull through. Most of the others are back in with sand roads and sites. Sand is sticky and splashes up on the RV when it rains and that is really my only 'complaint.' The park would be a strong 10 if it had paved roads and/or sites. Sites 32 and up are the newer back section and wifi or cable was not available in those sites. Many sites are satellite friendly including all pull through sites 23-31. OTA signal was minimal and cellular was good on AT&T and Verizon. The property is huge and spacious. At many parks I think "if they just got rid of one site, it would make such a huge difference." Not here... they could have added more but it's really nice they put space over jamming everyone in for an extra space rent. We camped at Wildwedge Golf and RV Park in a Motorhome.

Bike trail right across the street and is great. Head south for a more interesting ride. North is straight and level. Mini-golf is a cut above most courses and the executive golf course is well maintained.

La Salle Lake State Recreation Area, Bemidji, Minnesota

Date of Stay: August, 2019 - $39.00
Overall Rating:

This is a good park to explore Itasca, Bemidji, and Park Rapids. Sites are large, but on many, the parking area really drop off in front causing some leveling problems for some. NO OTA, good satellite in some sites, Wifi was ok except on weekend when the park was full, Verizon and AT&T are spotty. Sites are large with some tree coverage. There are trails and Lake Itasca is a short trail walk away. We camped at La Salle Lake State Recreation Area in a Motorhome.

Shooting Star Casino RV Park, Mahnomen, Minnesota

Date of Stay: August, 2019 - $20.00
Overall Rating:

Great value at this park. For 0nly $20/night, it's hard to beat. No OTA, good satellite, wifi spotty, & no cable. There isn't much to do around here, especially if you don't gamble. There is a grocery in town, but you might want to stock up before you arrive. Sites are fine, shuttle drives through frequently, some security drive throughs as well. Lots of space to walk the dog. Biggest issue is checking in at the hotel desk. No where to park when you check in. We camped at Shooting Star Casino RV Park in a Motorhome.

Red River State Recreation Campground, East Grand Forks, Minnesota

Date of Stay: August, 2019 - $50.00
Overall Rating:

Price reflects yearly passes to Minnesota Parks for RV & Car and reservation fee... I think the spots go for $33 base rate. This is a great park with spacious sites and lots of room. It's fascinating because it is built on the remains of the old Sherlock neighborhood which was destroyed by a flood in 1997. Walk around the camp ground and you'll see the remains of sidewalks and driveways. You can imagine the trees and the landscapes of a vibrant neighborhood. But, it was too close to the commonly flooding Red River. The whole area is encased in a flood wall/dike system to protect both Grand Forks and East Grand Forks. Both have nice downtowns with a wonderful paved path system where you can easily get good rides of 15 miles or more. The hook ups and spaces are generally well designed, but there are some with the patio area and hook ups on the same side. So, if you are in one of those, you'll come out on the passenger side, but have to move around to the drivers side to sit at the picnic table next to the hook ups. Not all sites are like that, so take a look on google maps to figure it out. We camped at Red River State Recreation Campground in a Motorhome.

Date of Stay: July, 2019 - $42.00
Overall Rating:

This is a newer campground and it will mature into a very nice one with some time. The view is beautiful and the owners are great. Hook ups are fine. Easy Satellite signal, good OTA, and great WiFi. Currently all gravel that is settling so kind of dusty, but once things settle, I think this will be very nice. We camped at River View RV Park in a Motorhome.

Sleepy Hollow RV Park, Wall, South Dakota

Date of Stay: July, 2019 - $40.00
Overall Rating:

My experience and impressions are the same as many others. Staff is nice, but this place just lacks adequate maintenance and pride. The grass is long, the roads are potholed, rain water fills up the holes, mosquitos multiply, sites too close, pool empty (better than green I guess), sewer connection a long way away, wifi stopped working. Some new dusty gravel was put down in some places, but not enough. My site had the new gravel but it hadn't been tamped down and my levelers must have sunk a full foot into the gravel. Maintenance that is done is done poorly. We camped at Sleepy Hollow RV Park in a Motorhome.
