Isaac Creek COE, Franklin, Alabama

Date of Stay: March, 2019 - $12.00
Overall Rating:

Cannot recall a COE campground that was bad, but this one is one of the really better ones. A bit off the beaten path for an overnight stop but a nice destination park. Sites are widely spaced and just about all are very long and concrete paved. Only a few pull throughs but back-ins are easy. We much preferred the river sites for the view and satellite access and we got about a dozen off air stations. Hosts we met were very friendly. The only negative we experienced is the bugs...mosquitos and gnats were pretty pesky. Agree with most comments from the previous review except we did not notice the messy sites they mentioned. Would definitely come here again for a longer stay to relax in the quiet. We camped at Isaac Creek COE in a Motorhome.

All About Relaxing RV Park, Theodore, Alabama

Date of Stay: March, 2019 - $52.00
Overall Rating:

Agree with previous review, this is a very nice, pretty new RV park. It has all the amenities except, surprisingly, cable TV. OTA is good with many FL, MS and AL stations. This is a very dog friendly park with rules enforced but not oppressively. Interior roads and sites are very smooth, well-compacted and dust free gravel. Utilities and wifi are all good. Folks are very friendly and helpful. Decor throughout the park definitely shows a tasteful lady's touch. The only real negative is that the sites are VERY close together. Seems like they own more unused property that could have been used to make things less cramped. As is the case with all the newer parks/resorts we visit, they are a bit pricey, at least for daily rates. We camped at All About Relaxing RV Park in a Motorhome.

University RV Park, College Station, Texas

Date of Stay: February, 2019 - $36.00
Overall Rating:

This park is a work in progress. Now known as St. Nick's Green, it is under new ownership for perhaps two years. The staff is very friendly and helpful and the new physical facilities they have built are very nice and modern. They include a new shower building and a laundry building plus the central building which is the office, country store, restaurant and pub. All utilities were very good, including cable and wifi (Tengo, which was free for a week). There are some drawbacks to the current campground area. The layout is somewhat confusing as some pull-throughs are no longer pull-throughs. All roads and sites are dirt and gravel, relatively well maintained but very muddy in some spots when rainy. As soon as they rework their sewer system (which worked fine for us but is to be upgraded) the plan is to do more upgrade work on the actual campsites. One problem they have no control over is proximity to the highway service road where large trucks are frequently accelerating to highway speed and are very loud. All in all this can become a very nice park to use as a base for exploring College Station, the home of Texas A & M and the George H. W. Bush Library and Museum. Hopefully the new owners will continue with their upgrading program. We camped at University RV Park in a Motorhome.

Majestic Pines RV Resort, Willis, Texas

Date of Stay: February, 2019 - $37.00
Overall Rating:

Very nice, but not perfect, newish park with wide roads, good wide site pads for parking RV and toad plus picnic table. Saw no sign of all the friendly staff and goings on others have described, but maybe winter had something to do with that. All utilities and wifi were excellent and the is a nice dog park area which our dog loved. The entrance to our site had a huge rut on the left where someone just could not stay on the pavement. Been there for a while without repair and I slipped/tripped on it and went down when rounding the back of our coach to get to the hookups. Fortunately, no major injury. Three negatives. First, the road noise from I-45 is unbearable if you are in a site at the west end of the park. We were borderline, noisy but not as bad as others get. Why build a park this close to a major highway with no consideration for the noise factor? Second, as we have seen at some other newer RV parks like this, the utility hookups for the back-in sites are placed almost all the way at the road end of the lot. Bring plenty of water and sewer hoses and an extra power cable. Third, there was a frequent and pretty wide spread black sewer odor in several areas of the park. They must be having some kind of problem. Fortunately it was not around our site. All in all a nice park but a bit on the pricey side, even for a monthly, compared to similar new parks. We camped at Majestic Pines RV Resort in a Motorhome.

Miss Ellie's RV Park, Waskom, Texas

Date of Stay: December, 2018 - $28.00
Overall Rating:

Very convenient access from I-20, but right next to the road so lots of traffic noise. Fortunately the noise is not too bad inside the RV. This appears to be an old KOA layout. The park is mostly long-term residents but nice long pull thrus are available for transients. Surfaces are gravel/dirt and can get muddy when it rains. Very friendly, helpful manager. We would use it again for short term stops. We camped at Miss Ellie's RV Park in a Motorhome.

Roosevelt State Park, Morton, Mississippi

Date of Stay: December, 2018 - $16.00
Overall Rating:

Love state parks. This was a bargain because of the time of year. We had a great view of the lake without paying for a waterfront site premium. Had the whole park just about all to our own at this time of year. Only concern was that the roads, being older, are kind of narrow for big rigs with some bumps, tight corners with drop-offs, and at this time of year were covered with leaves and pine needles making it hard to see where the edges are. We just took it slow and carefully and had no problem. We camped at Roosevelt State Park in a Motorhome.

Jones RV Park, Norcross, Georgia

Date of Stay: December, 2018 - $35.00
Overall Rating:

Last review about covers it. We used the park as a convenient one-night stopover on a trip. Many long-termers, muddy surfaces after rain. This time we found the electric power weak...voltages seemed very low. We'll use this park as a stopover but it is not a destination park for us. We camped at Jones RV Park in a Motorhome.

Nashville I-24 Campground, Smyrna, Tennessee

Date of Stay: October, 2018 - $37.00
Overall Rating:

Stopped here for an overnight travel stop. Used only electricity and WiFi. Our site was in the middle of a wide gravel area, pretty much undefined except for the hookups pedestal. There is no picnic table or any grass in sight. The whole park is pretty much a small gravel surface. People were very nice and helpful. Dog walk areas are VERY restricted. Overall it met our needs for an overnight stop but would not plan on it for more. We camped at Nashville I-24 Campground in a Motorhome.

Peaceful Waters Campground, Rockville, Indiana

Date of Stay: October, 2018 - $34.00
Overall Rating:

This is a Passport America park but we were here during an area covered bridge festival so required to pay full price. Close to highway so there is some road noise, but it is not an overly busy road. Two sites are full hookup, the rest do not have sewer connections. There is a mix of power, some 30 amp, some 50 amp and some both. We had a 30 amp site but had 2 outlets so could use our "Cheater box" to get 50 amp serviced, good on these cold days. Park is very clean with nice amenities although we were just on an overnight stop. Our site was not very level but our jacks got us there. Toad parking was next to our motorhome since the site was short even though a pull-thru. We camped at Peaceful Waters Campground in a Motorhome.

Hidden Treasure RV Resort, Boyce, Louisiana

Overall Rating:

Just made an overnight stop here. Sites are randomly spaced, no pavement. Road in is sand or mud if rainy. Owners are very friendly and hookups work well including wi-fi. Not much to draw you here unless looking for a long-term out of the way location. Our site was not real level but acceptable. We camped at Hidden Treasure RV Resort in a Motorhome.

Jennings Ferry Campground COE, Eutaw, Alabama

Date of Stay: April, 2018 - $13.00
Overall Rating:

As usual, C.O.E. parks are great except for not having sewer connections. Our site was huge, well spaced from others and the park was very quiet. Trees prevented satellite on our site but others would work. If this is important ask to tour the CG and pick from available sites. We camped at Jennings Ferry Campground COE in a Motorhome.

Cloudland Canyon State Park, Rising Fawn, Georgia

Date of Stay: April, 2018 - $28.00
Overall Rating:

Beautiful park and campground. The road in climbs 1,200 feet with a couple of switchbacks but we navigated it easily with a 40-foot motorcoach and a tow vehicle. Just take it easy. Would do a 10-rating but there are no sewers and electricity is only 30-amp (we used a cheater box to get service from both 30-amp outlets). Lots of trees would block satellite reception when leaves are out but ours worked this time. We stayed in the east rim campground which seems to be newer, but the west rim sites are nice too. Sites are angled well for easy back-ins. Lots of nice trails and great views, This was our third time here over the years and we'll keep it on our "return to" list. We camped at Cloudland Canyon State Park in a Motorhome.

Still Meadow RV Park, Mt. Vernon, Texas

Date of Stay: February, 2018 - $31.00
Overall Rating:

Small relatively new park with a lot of long-termers but places for travelers. Spacing was adequate and utilities are good. Our pull-thru site had a concrete pad but not all do. Did not use cable. Wi-fi was terrible. Half the time you can't get logged in, and when you do you are likely to get dumped off. Office is not manned full-time so no real help there. Not much to do in the area other than our geocaching hobby, the reason we stopped here for 3 days. The road in from Hwy 37 is very narrow and a bit rough. We left going the other way to Hwy 115 which was shorter and in better condition. Would use the park again at least for an overnight stop as it is reasonably close to the interstate. We camped at Still Meadow RV Park in a Motorhome.

Wagon Master RV Park, Sanger, Texas

Date of Stay: February, 2018 - $28.00
Overall Rating:

Mixed feelings about this park. Pros: Sites are well laid out and, especially in the back area, almost spacious. Pretty quiet even though there are many long tremors, some even with kids. Alpaca viewing is interesting but watch out for the "guard dogs"...they really are. Roads are good and well maintained but of a coarse gravel mix which is uncomfortable to walk on and could raise dust, but everybody does drive very slowly to keep dust down. Utilities are generally good although our water connection at second site was below ground and awkward. Owner and workers were very nice and helpful Cons: Very high occupancy rate. We wanted to stay for a week and had to move to a temporarily vacated long-term site (very nice) to make the full week. Wi-fi is Very poor. Erratic connections and drop-offs, difficulty logging in (every time you put a device to sleep or disconnect) and speed seems variable. Free, but marginally usable at times. We camped at Wagon Master RV Park in a Motorhome.
