Elk Creek Lodge and Resort, Piedmont, South Dakota

Date of Stay: July, 2019 - $22.00
Overall Rating:

Stayed here 4 nights. Park is about a mile from I-90 so no highway noise. This park has a pool, playground, park store with basic supplies, a banquet hall for events and during Sturgis rally is open daily for park guests for breakfast, lunch, etc.(not sure how late it stays open and since we weren't there during the rally we did not get a chance to eat there). Roads in park are dirt/gravel as was our site, fairly level and full hookup. Park had quite a bit of flooding from snow thaw a spring rain so roads were in need of maintenance but overall not too bad. Our site was a pull-thru but was a tight turn to get into with a 38ft RV. Road coming into park is paved and easily maneuverable. Office worker was very friendly and helpful. We would stay here again. We camped at Elk Creek Lodge and Resort in a Motorhome.

Meadow Park RV and Motel, Bridgeport, Nebraska

Date of Stay: July, 2019 - $33.00
Overall Rating:

Stayed here 2 nights. Park is right next to Hwy 385 (main road) and although there was a lot of vehicle noise during the day it was fairly quiet overnight. Park has 20 sites, ours was a pull thru on cement pad with full hookup. Except for one other camper we were the only ones there but the owner said she is usually full during the summer with work campers. Park needed some grounds maintenance but overall was clean (no junk or garbage laying around). Park has a small motel behind campground that appeared to be full with traveling workers. This was also nicely maintained. Park host (owner) was very friendly and helpful. Restrooms /showers were clean as was the laundry room. Roads in the park were dirt/ gravel and were well maintained. Overall this is a nice park to stay for a night or 2 while visiting sites, Chimney Rock, Car Henge and some of the other parks in the area. We would stay here again. We camped at Meadow Park RV and Motel in a Motorhome.

Fort Kearny State Recreation Area, Kearney, Nebraska

Date of Stay: July, 2019 - $30.00
Overall Rating:

Stayed here 2 nights. We got here on a Sunday afternoon. Entrance to park is not clearly marked and we ended up at wrong entrance and was sent to the right one and there was no one at the gate house so had to call the other entrance to find out how to get to our site (would have been helpful if the young man at the other entrance would have given us a map) Site was back-in grass and fairly level, 50amp electric, no water or sewer but there is a dump station. Park roads were paved, easily maneuverable and well maintained as was the grass for the most part (good for bicycling and hiking). Park has many shade trees and activities for kids. Bathrooms were clean but you had to pay 75cents for 3 minutes to use the shower (never saw that in any other park we've been in). Overall this park was nice, lots of wildlife, deer, wild turkey and very quiet at night. We would stay here again but only for a night or two because of no full hookup and paying to use the shower. We camped at Fort Kearny State Recreation Area in a Motorhome.

Cottonwood Grove RV Campground, Hesston, Kansas

Date of Stay: July, 2019 - $15.00
Overall Rating:

This is a bare bones park, only 16 sites. We stayed here 2 nights. Park is right off of the interstate but far enough away so not too much noise. There is a chinese restaurant right in front of the park and across the street from the restaurant is a Hotel (nice if you have friends and family that don't have a RV, etc. to stay in). Park is old and except for the grass and general grounds maintenance was clean, roads going into park are dirt/gravel and not easily maneuverable, need some maintenance as well as the low tree branches need to be trimmed, had a few full timers there but generally well maintained units. Site was grass, fairly level. Owner came out and showed us to our site (pull thru), very friendly and helpful. Not a destination campground but we would stay here again. We camped at Cottonwood Grove RV Campground in a Motorhome.

Smokin' Joe's Rib Ranch and RV Park, Davis, Oklahoma

Date of Stay: July, 2019 - $35.00
Overall Rating:

We stayed here 2 nights on our way to Sturgis SD. Park is clean, well maintained grounds, site was gravel/dirt as was the roads in the park, easily accessible. Restrooms were just remodeled and very clean as was the laundry room. Park has a BBQ restaurant on site (owned by the same people who own the park), food was delicious. Park also has a store with basic supplies and clothing, jewelry and other things you would find in a tourist store (very nice but some were pricey) We had a full hookup water/sewer/50 amp electric. We would stay here again. We camped at Smokin' Joe's Rib Ranch and RV Park in a Motorhome.

Cicada Springs RV Park, Killeen, Texas

Date of Stay: July, 2019 - $33.00
Overall Rating:

Stayed here for 6 nights while visiting my son and his family. The park is located off a main road in Killeen and is next to a city park. Park had a lot of full timers (military personnel) but very well maintained units. The park is gated and you need to have a code to get in. Very clean and grounds were well maintained. No public restroom or showers but they did have a laundry room. There is a small store with basic supplies and the owners were very nice (they gave me a military discount rate because my son was in the Army and stationed in Ft. Hood.) Roads to the park and in the park were paved and in good condition. Would stay here again. We camped at Cicada Springs RV Park in a Motorhome.

Mission Trails RV Resort, San Antonio, Texas

Date of Stay: July, 2019 - $23.00
Overall Rating:

We were supposed to stay here 5 days but after we got here decided to stay only 3. The park has mostly full timers in run down trailers, RVs and there was trash and junk everywhere. The park stunk of dog feces and urine and many dogs were left tied outside or running lose. Only one bathroom was open and had no toilet paper or paper towels. The camper next to us had 2- 30 gal garbage cans full of beer cans and the camper across from us had chickens in a coop. We had a full hookup but was hoping it didn't rain while we were there as the lot was a grass site and looked prone to flooding. We chose this park because it was close (7 miles) to downtown San Antonio. The lady in the office was very pleasant and the people I did come in contact with in the park were pleasant. We had no cable or wifi but hotspot worked well and antenna picked up quite a few stations. This park is close to downtown tourist area and lots of stores and restaurants nearby. Close to the highway so there is some highway noise. We camped at Mission Trails RV Resort in a Motorhome.

Mobil Village RV Park, Aransas Pass, Texas

Date of Stay: June, 2019 - $16.00
Overall Rating:

This is very old trailer park that has RV spaces that are more like parking lot spaces, need to be an experienced RV driver to back into site, not very wide, right next to your neighbor. The roads going in are paved as was the RV sites but in need of repaving (lots of potholes). Not easy to navigate with a Class A motorhome. Many of the trailers are in need of repair or replacement. The recreation room was nicely setup, pool table, exercise equipment and clean. Laundry room was clean but was old. Very quiet, no shade trees, people we did come in contact with were nice. Had to pay a deposit ($15) for key to rest rooms and recreation/laundry. We stayed here 3 nights while visiting Corpus Christie, would not stay here again. We camped at Mobil Village RV Park in a Motorhome.

60 North RV Park , Bay City, Texas

Date of Stay: June, 2019 - $20.00
Overall Rating:

We stayed here 2 nights. Park is next to a main road but didn't hear any noise from cars. Roads in park and sites are cement with grass in between sites. Lots of full time workers but very nicely kept up. Basically a park to stay in if you are just passing thru the area. Could use some shade trees on the sites. Park has a small store and laundry and restrooms were very clean. Site was level, full hookup, 50 amp, water, sewer. We would stay here again. We camped at 60 North RV Park in a Motorhome.

Sam Houston Jones State Park, Lake Charles, Louisiana

Date of Stay: June, 2019 - $35.00
Overall Rating:

We stayed here 2 nights. Site was paved, area around site was grass and because they had a lot of rain - kinda muddy. Park itself has paved roads, great for bicycling, saw deer closeup, lots of shade trees. Had a full hookup 50amp,water,sewer but there was a dump station there. Plenty of room between sites. We camped at Sam Houston Jones State Park in a Motorhome.

Pontchartrain Landing, New Orleans, Louisiana

Date of Stay: June, 2019 - $41.00
Overall Rating:

We have stayed here 2 times before when going thru New Orleans. Resort is on the water (Lake Pontchartrain). This place has a restaurant (good food), entertainment Thursday-Sunday, Park store, shuttle service to downtown New Orleans (Not sure of price for this). Nice pool, Only complaint about pool was no railing for getting in and out of pool. Park roads were dirt/gravel (as was site). Electric 50 amp/water/sewer was good, site was level. The road going to the park was being paved. Park is in an industrial area which makes you wonder about the safety of the area but the park has 24 security and is fenced in (need a code to get in at night) and of course security is always nearby. Although kinda pricey this is one of the nicer parks in the area. Would stay here again. We camped at Pontchartrain Landing in a Motorhome.

Falling Waters State Park, Chipley, Florida

Date of Stay: June, 2019 - $18.00
Overall Rating:

This was a nice park. The campsites were set up in a circle around the Restroom /shower area. The campground roads were gravel, site was fairly level. Grounds were fairly well maintained. Not got for biking but had a nice hiking trail that lead to the waterfall. There was a beach area for swimming (gotta watch out for alligators though and yes there was a posted sign). Water/50amp electric hookup no sewer but dump station nearby. We stayed 2 nights. We would stay here again. We camped at Falling Waters State Park in a Motorhome.

Overall Rating:

Very nice park. We got there late in the afternoon on a Sunday and was greeted by the host camper. Close to the highway which was convenient but far enough away so we didn't hear any highway noise. We had a full hookup with 50amp. Everything about this park was nice. Would camp here again. We stayed 2 nights. We camped at Ocala North RV Resort in a Motorhome.
