Midway RV Park (Military FamCamp), Mid-South Naval Support Activity, Tennessee

Date of Stay: October, 2019 - $23.00
Overall Rating:

First let me say we travel in a 43ft motorhome and tow a 4 door Jeep. The "back" gate off 385 and 204 has a very tight serpentine. It is doable but go slow and take your time. This place has been great. Host met us as soon as we pulled in. Told us to pick a spot and she'd come back to make sure we were all settled, which she did. The site we chose was #14. It was plenty large enough for our rig and we were able to detach and park the Jeep in front. The site was a concrete pad with a picnic table, also on a concrete pad. The maintenance guy, came by and took a look at the grass, which was a bit high, and called to have it cut. A young guy came out immediately, even before maintenance guy left, and started cutting the area around our coach. There are several service members in here long-term but most are parked in the back. Everyone has been extremely friendly! A lot of places we go people are friendly but just with a wave or a hi how are you greeting. Here people actually stop and chat for a while. The laundry, though we did not use it, is free. The commissary is just in front of the park. It is smaller than some but seemed to have everything just the same. There is a mini-mart on the main road as you come through the gate for gas but I did not see diesel. However, they do not have ice and I was told that nowhere on base sold ice. Not sure about that but it is what the girl told me. There is a store outside the main-gate that does sell ice if you need that. The Exchange seemed well stocked and there is also a package store attached to the Exchange. OTA TV worked very well as did SAT TV. W/S/E, 50 and 30 amp, were located well, at least at our site. The dumpster was located in the center of the park also very convenient. We were also told that there are plans to expand the park. I have no idea if that will happen but let's hope it does because this is certainly a great place. We will be stopping here again. We camped at Midway RV Park (Military FamCamp) in a Motorhome.

Lake Catherine State Park, Hot Springs, Arkansas

Date of Stay: August, 2019 - $18.00
Overall Rating:

The Park is quiet, clean, and located right on the lake. Beautiful tall trees cast a shade that was quite welcome due to the heat index reaching above 105 degrees. We have a 43' coach which fit fine but our first location fell off just enough that the front tires were barely on the ground. We asked if they had another spot we might try which they were happy to do for us. The OTA TV is pretty sketchy at best, but Dish worked in our second spot. Just know there are a lot of trees so in some spots sat-tv is probably not going to work. AT&T service worked well. No problems at all. We camped at Lake Catherine State Park in a Motorhome.

If you are looking for a place to eat close, there is a very good restaurant called The Red Oak Filling Station. Huge burgers, steaks, and BBQ. Real nice people.

Downtown Riverside RV Park, North Little Rock, Arkansas

Date of Stay: August, 2019 - $28.00
Overall Rating:

The park is well maintained and quite accessible to the downtown areas of Little Rock and North Little Rock. The Park sits right on the Arkansas River across the the Clinton Presidential Library and a couple of blocks from Dickie Stevens Minor League Baseball Park. We had a back-in site which was gravel but they also have concrete pull-through sites. 50 amp service with full hook-ups. We camped at Downtown Riverside RV Park in a Motorhome.

Tips for other Campers:

Many reviewers have written about the things to do here, but, if you are looking for something different check out Trey Johnson. Trey plays Blues in many of the local bars. If you are hungry and like jerk, check out The Taste of Jamaica. Their jerk chicken is the best we have had since living in the Caribbean.

Little Turtle RV & Storage, Eufaula, Oklahoma

Date of Stay: July, 2019 - $40.00
Overall Rating:

The RV Park is open and rather large. AT&T cell service works well and OTA tv gets channels from Tulsa, Oklahoma City and Fort Smith, AR. the pads are concrete but the roads within the park are gravel. We chose this for a one night stop-over. We camped at Little Turtle RV & Storage in a Motorhome.

Tips for other Campers:

Someone had mentioned a restaurant named Dobbers Roadhouse so we went to check it out. Home cooking. Everything from fried green tomatoes to meatloaf to grilled pork chops to fried chicken. Service was good and friendly. It's a little of a drive to get to but a nice drive over the lake.

Blowing Springs Campground, Bella Vista, Arkansas

Date of Stay: July, 2019 - $33.00
Overall Rating:

We spent a couple of days here visiting our kids. The park is easy to get into and the staff are great. The sites are close together but paved and concrete pads. Full hookups with 50amp. There is no OTA tv but there is cable which we did not use. AT&T service has worked well with no problems. The site was long enough for our 43' motorhome but the toad barely fit in front. Many park along side their RV's but you lose some patio space. It is a great stopover or a great place to stay a bit and explore Northwest Arkansas. We camped at Blowing Springs Campground in a Motorhome.

Tips for other Campers:

Bentonville is a quaint little town and home to Wal-Mart. The town square is a must with a great farmer's market and Sam Walton's first store and museum: along with a great ice cream store!

Elliot Lake Recreation Area (Military FamCamp), Texarkana, Texas

Date of Stay: July, 2019 - $12.00
Overall Rating:

The sites in the older part of the camp are close with several back to back which can be great if traveling with a buddy. The sites in the newer part of the camp are paved, level, and very nice. We used this as just a stop-over but will certainly keep it on our radar whenever passing through.

The staff could not have been more friendly. If you have the America the Beautiful pass they give $3.00 off the regular $15.00 price. We camped at Elliot Lake Recreation Area (Military FamCamp) in a Motorhome.

Little Rock AFB FamCamp (Military FamCamp), Little Rock Air Force Base, Arkansas

Date of Stay: July, 2019 - $20.00
Overall Rating:

The campsites are nearby the commissary and exchange. Our site #5 did not have a patio but most do. There was no wifi but our AT&T cell service worked fine. OTA TV also worked well.

If approaching Jacksonville from the south, take the Main Street exit. Pass under 67/167 and turn right on Marshall which will lead you to the main gate. This is easier than taking exit 11 off hiway 67/167. We camped at Little Rock AFB FamCamp (Military FamCamp) in a Motorhome.
