Sallisaw / Fort Smith West KOA, Sallisaw, Oklahoma

Date of Stay: July, 2019 - $42.00
Overall Rating:

This is not a place we could recommend to anyone. It lacks proper drainage. A storm came in and in the aftermath, the place became a lake. So much standing water and a breeding ground for mosquitos and flies. While the utilities worked the cable reception was poor on all stations. You can't hear the highway from inside the park but that's okay. People checking in at 3 a.m. make enough noise. We camped at Sallisaw / Fort Smith West KOA in a Travel Trailer.

Burkburnett / Wichita Falls KOA, Burkburnett, Texas

Date of Stay: July, 2019 - $63.00

Way overpriced for a site lacking proper amounts of gravel and lots of holes. Even for one night, it was lacking. We camped at Burkburnett / Wichita Falls KOA in a Travel Trailer.

Mesa Verde RV Park, Wolfforth, Texas

Date of Stay: July, 2019 - $36.00
Overall Rating:

Good park for a short stay to visit the Buddy Holly Center while in the area. Park was quiet (except for the post 4th of July fireworks outside the park). Sites are gravel and long. Utilities and cable worked well. We camped at Mesa Verde RV Park in a Travel Trailer.

Oasis RV Resort, Amarillo, Texas

Date of Stay: July, 2019 - $50.00
Overall Rating:

Easy to find off I-40. Sites are concrete, asphalt, and level. No shade even though there were some trees around. A lot of rules for a place this highly rated. Skimpy information provided upon arrival. Keep an eye out for speeding staff in golf carts. Cable was available but channel selection was weak. We camped at Oasis RV Resort in a Travel Trailer.

Date of Stay: July, 2019 - $35.00
Overall Rating:

Gravel sites with a crown made it difficult but not impossible to level. Street light right by our site was annoying. Not an easy place to find coming off US 70. Only stayed one night, thankfully. We camped at Town & Country RV and Mobile Home Park in a Travel Trailer.

Sunny Acres RV Park (55+ park), Las Cruces, New Mexico

Date of Stay: June, 2019 - $43.00
Overall Rating:

A great place to stay to visit the area. Sites are long and wide with a picnic table. Some are well-shaded others not so much. Cable and WiFi worked well during our week long stay. A quiet place (except for trash pick-up at the business next door), and an occasional train, but still not really an issue. Roads inside the park are wide and easily navigable. Easy city to get around with shopping and great restaurants. Lots of construction throughout the city but not a hindrance in getting from place to place. We camped at Sunny Acres RV Park (55+ park) in a Travel Trailer.

Santa Rosa Campground & RV Park, Santa Rosa, New Mexico

Date of Stay: June, 2019 - $36.00
Overall Rating:

This is a former KOA and the owners would be wise to put some signage up on the highway indicating where they are like the former owners did. Once here, the place is okay. Sites are gravel as are the roads in the park. It's off the highway and no noise. Utilities were good and once we had the cable working it was okay too. This is an okay place for an overnight stop. We camped at Santa Rosa Campground & RV Park in a Travel Trailer.

Raton KOA, Raton, New Mexico

Date of Stay: June, 2019 - $36.00
Overall Rating:

Fast and courteous check-in. Needed a propane tank filled right away and they were right on it. Roads and site were graveled. No noise either inside or outside of the park. Sites are close but not a problem with using slides or awning. Utilities worked well and cable was limited but was still okay. We will be back. We camped at Raton KOA in a Travel Trailer.

Mountaindale Cabins & RV Resort, Colorado Springs, Colorado

Date of Stay: June, 2019 - $53.00
Overall Rating:

Excellent place to stay while exploring the many places to visit in the area. Staff was very helpful and provided excellent service. A busy park but a quiet one. Verizon cell service is almost non-existent but WiFi was okay. It's a bit of a drive to a full grocery store but the park has a fairly well-stocked store with the basics. No propane filled here so be advised if you need tanks filled before arrival. We camped at Mountaindale Cabins & RV Resort in a Travel Trailer.

Denver West / Central City KOA, Central City, Colorado

Date of Stay: June, 2019 - $65.00
Overall Rating:

When we made the reservation nothing was said about this KOA being under renovation. During the day trucks coming in dropping off big rocks, graders out moving and leveling the ground. Lots of noise and dust, even into the evening. Not a place we will ever stop at again, even when (if) they ever finish. Strong winds up here on the mountain. The site was concrete and level but didn't overcome the negatives. Bark Park was closed and not a blade of grass in sight. We camped at Denver West / Central City KOA in a Travel Trailer.

Spruce Lake RV Resort, Estes Park, Colorado

Date of Stay: June, 2019 - $68.00
Overall Rating:

West side of town, close to Rocky Mtn. NP. Utilities were good, cable TV is limited and some stations went audio only for a couple of days. On-site daily trash pickup is nice. Sites are close and a mix of dirt, gravel and some grass. A good place to stay when visiting the RMNP but get to the park early to avoid the long lines. No outside road noise in the park. This is a tourist destination so bring all you think you'll need when you come in. There is a Safeway on the east side of town. We camped at Spruce Lake RV Resort in a Travel Trailer.

Denver East / Strasburg KOA, Strasburg, Colorado

Date of Stay: June, 2019 - $47.00
Overall Rating:

Roads are somewhat tight, not much grass, and very close to neighbors and we couldn't sit outside or put out our awning. Hookups are well located and all worked well. The cable is fuzzy and limited and WiFi is not strong. Staff is courteous and very helpful. Typical for KOA's the signage to get to the park is great. Some noise in the park when you are outside but not if you are inside. We camped at Denver East / Strasburg KOA in a Travel Trailer.

Salina KOA, Salina, Kansas

Date of Stay: May, 2019 - $36.00
Overall Rating:

Although we had reservations here it was iffy whether or not we would be able to stay. Severe storms and flooding in the area and the management wasn't sure they would open for new arrivals. We came in on our date not knowing and was pleasantly surprised to see them open for new arrivals. Lots of maintenance going on to remove the sandbags and grade the roads. Escorted to our site and easy road to get around inside. They have cable but half the stations made TV viewing an auditory experience. The other half was okay but nothing we wanted to watch. Staff was friendly and knew what they were doing. Decent roads in and around the park were a plus. We would stay here again if ever in the area. We camped at Salina KOA in a Travel Trailer.

Tips for other Campers:

We stopped here for a couple of nights and drove back to Abilene to visit the Eisenhower Boyhood Home, Museum (closed) and Library. A good place to spend a couple of hours and we visit as many former Presidents Museums and Libraries as we can. Good place for history buffs.

Deer Creek Valley RV Park, Topeka, Kansas

Date of Stay: May, 2019 - $41.00
Overall Rating:

We arrived early to set up before a strong weather front went through. Park office is closed from 11:30 - 1:30 pm but they left our information inside for us. We found our site and set up before the rain began. They have a storm shelter and pets are permitted. The park is concrete with some grass between the sites. We didn't use any facilities other than cable and electric and they worked well. Easy to find if you don't miss any signs and while no personnel were here when we arrived we were able to secure our paperwork and map and find our site, set-up, and stop by the office later to settle. This should work for everyone as the sites and roads inside the park are clearly marked. We camped at Deer Creek Valley RV Park in a Travel Trailer.
