4 Paws Kingdom Campground and Dog Retreat, Rutherfordton, North Carolina

Date of Stay: August, 2019 - $52.00
Overall Rating:

This park is absolutely amazing! We camped in site 3 which was shaded and had a nice large dog pen for our pups to use. They have 5-7 dog parks and a nice pond for them to play in. The laundry facilities and bathrooms are spotless clean and they even have a dog bathing room! On the weekend we were there (Wooffest), there was a band who was fantastic! I couldn’t say enough great things about this park. It’s one of my favorite places to stay!!! We camped at 4 Paws Kingdom Campground and Dog Retreat in a Motorhome.

Ocean Waves Campground, Waves, North Carolina

Date of Stay: August, 2019 - $56.00
Overall Rating:

We stayed at this park for 6 nights in Aug 2019. Our friends had booked two sites side by side. However, when we arrived, they had moved us to a site across and over one from our friends. (We were not happy about this). But after 2 nights, the site next to our friends became empty so they allowed us to move. I would recommend that they do not move campers who have reservations for 2 sites side by side just to accommodate someone who wants to stay an extra night. They were very nice in the office and helpful with any questions. The park is clean. There are some sites with shade but otherwise you are out in the sun. Our site was 2 away from the beach so we were happy We camped at Ocean Waves Campground in a Motorhome.

Tips for other Campers:

Good bike/walking trail leading about 3 miles each way from the park. Pool is very clean.

Cedar Island RV Park (formerly Driftwood Motel Restaurant & Campground, Cedar Island, North Carolina

Date of Stay: August, 2019 - $35.00
Overall Rating:

I was very hesitant to stay here reading past reviews, however we had one night before catching the ferry to Ocracoke. When we arrived, we had to wait about 30 minutes to get assigned a site but then we were told we could pick any site. We opted for a pull through site. The site was level, and had amazing views of the water. We only used electric. One of the owners came around shortly after we got set up and greeted us. He even lined up a sunset horseback ride for one of us. There is not much to this campground however it did offer some of the best views imaginable. The horse stables on the property are also very nice. We learned that the new owners bought the campground in 2016 and have been slowly making improvements. My only recommendation is to have some trash bins around as we had a challenge finding a trash bin upon our departure. I think this campground will really be a gem in a few years! Sharky’s bar and grill was right on the property but we didn’t eat there. The old hotel is also under renovation. We camped at Cedar Island RV Park (formerly Driftwood Motel Restaurant & Campground in a Motorhome.

Jekyll Island Campground, Jekyll Island, Georgia

Date of Stay: August, 2019 - $47.00
Overall Rating:

Great location on the island. Park is crowded and definitely family friendly as there are lots of tents and RVs. All or most of the sites are fully shaded. Roads are paves and RV sites are level. Camp store is clean. We camped at Jekyll Island Campground in a Motorhome.

Bass Lake RV Campground, Dillon, South Carolina

Date of Stay: August, 2019 - $20.00
Overall Rating:

Beautiful campground with very easy access on/off I95. Check-in was very easy and the office attendant was very nice. He led us to our site which was shaded by pine trees. Park is very clean. I even used the laundry facilities which which fine. Very quiet park and not too crowded (maybe 20 other campers here) and saw very few people. Definitely a great value for Passport card holders but a great park regardless. Park does have WiFi but it’s a bit slow. No cable but I picked up ~30 HD channels with my antenna. We camped at Bass Lake RV Campground in a Motorhome.
