We stayed here for 7 nights in the "dry camping" area (87, 88). The sites are spread apart nicely and it is very quiet at night when we were there. No street lights and you can see the stars/moon easily. The coyotes were out in force in the evenings and early morning singing to us. The staff (mostly volunteers) were very nice and very informative on the wildlife and vegetation. There is a cement path to the Visitors Center that was about a ½ mile walk... but well worth the walk through the sage and cactus. The Visitors Center was amazing with many movies of the area. This is our second year here and we will be back again next year. The late spring/summer/early fall is not the time to come here because of the heat. We enjoyed 60-high 70 degree weather with a sprinkle of rain (very light) on one of the days. This campground is well worth the stay. We camped at Anza-Borrego Desert State Park - Tamarisk Grove Campground in a Travel Trailer.
You're about 2 miles from the town of Borrego Springs which has good Mexican food.
