Ackerman Campground USFS, Lewiston, California

Date of Stay: September, 2019 - $22.00
Overall Rating:

Ackerman Campground sits as the meat in a sandwich between Trinity Dam Blvd and a river-like spur of Lewiston Lake. The sites have pretty decent spacing. Vegetation within the campground is limited so some sites have minimal shade and your views often extend across several sites. We stayed one night on a Sunday in early August 2019 when the entire campground was mostly empty, and had no water available at its water points. We camped at Ackerman Campground USFS in a Motorhome.

Bend / Sisters Garden RV Resort, Sisters, Oregon

Date of Stay: August, 2019 - $72.00
Overall Rating:

Bend/Sisters Garden RV Resort is easily one of the best RV parks we've stayed at. "Garden" in the park's name is taken to heart as the grounds have extensive, well cared for landscaping with a diverse collection of plants. Grass is common throughout the park, an integral part of each campsite, and watered very regularly. (Be sure to keep your things off your site's grass at night.) The small lake and generous grass areas give it a more spacious feel than many RV parks. The bathroom and shower facilities were nice, particularly the ones away from the office which were newer and had a notably high-end feel to them. The outdoor fitness area had multiple stations and was in great shape. The staff was friendly, including giving us a call with instructions on the night of our arrival as their office was closing. Those who arrived during office hours appeared to get an escort to their sites. The playground seemed a bit small, but the items were different than many playgrounds and kept the kids engaged. Campers we ran in to throughout the park were friendly and courteous. We'll definitely stay there again when in the area. We camped at Bend / Sisters Garden RV Resort in a Motorhome.

Bandon / Port Orford KOA, Langlois, Oregon

Date of Stay: August, 2019 - $66.00
Overall Rating:

Brandon / Port Orford KOA is a nice place that has the amenities of an RV park with the less-structured, wooded feel of a USFS campground. The sites varied quite a bit in value, with some noticeably better than others depending on how they fit amongst the trees and adjacent sites. Among the activities offered were an ice cream social and a breakfast available for purchase, as well as movie nights. The game room included a pool table, air hockey, puzzles, and games. The pool was nice, but seemed smaller than it looked on the map, and was heated warmer than needed. Bathrooms and showers were good, including rain-style shower heads that were a nice touch. WiFi was available, but was nearly unusably slow when we were on it. We camped at Bandon / Port Orford KOA in a Motorhome.

Eagle Rock Campground (Forest Service), Glide, Oregon

Date of Stay: August, 2019 - $18.00
Overall Rating:

Eagle Rock Campground is a basic USFS campground in a fairly densely wooded location right off of highway OR-138. Most sites have pretty nice separation and privacy. The bathrooms are minimalistic with outhouse style toilets, no running water, and an unpleasant smell that drifted beyond them in some cases. Most sites along the river appeared to have access down to the water, revealing one of the true gems of this campground. The river is beautiful and inviting, making for a very relaxing space. We camped at Eagle Rock Campground (Forest Service) in a Motorhome.

Lava Lake Campground - USFS, La Pine, Oregon

Date of Stay: July, 2019 - $24.00
Overall Rating:

Lava Lake Campground is in a scenic location and a nicely wooded forest. Most sites have good privacy and spacing between them; although, save washing your vehicle until after the trip as the sites and roads are dusty. The bathrooms are minimalistic with outhouse style toilets and no running water. There is a nice and handy camp store a short walk away at Lava Lake Resort which is on adjacent property. Lava Lake and the picturesque view beyond it is beautiful, although the water itself was not inviting to wade in to due to some of the algae type growth in it. Little Lava Lake is next door and a short hike away with its own campground. We camped at Lava Lake Campground - USFS in a Motorhome.
