Cochiti Lake COE , Pena Blanca, New Mexico

Date of Stay: October, 2019 - $12.00
Overall Rating:

Beautiful spot to stay overnight or for an extended stay! We did not make a reservation, so stayed in the area with no services, but the view was breathtaking! The time that the park office is open is odd - we could not leave our registration form anywhere - we had to actually check in. The office was open early in the morning, and then again from 3-6:00pm. Just sort of inconvenient. We camped at Cochiti Lake COE in a Motorhome.

Short drive to Tent Rocks National Monument (which was an absolute highlight). Visited Cochiti Lakes Golf Club after our hike, and enjoyed a beverage with fried mushrooms. WOW.

Route 66 RV Resort, Albuquerque, New Mexico

Date of Stay: October, 2019 - $45.00
Overall Rating:

Nice park located about 30 minutes west of Albuquerque. The restrooms were small, but clean. The park is enclosed by a gate, and when we were there, we had to call the office to be allowed inside the park if it was after 6:00pm. We had a streetlamp directly outside of our motorhome, which was annoying. It is a nice walk to the casino. We camped at Route 66 RV Resort in a Motorhome.

Valley of Fires Recreation Area (BLM), Carrizozo, New Mexico

Date of Stay: October, 2019 - $6.00
Overall Rating:

Such an amazing, magical spot! This was our first BLM experience. Valley of Fires is one of those quirky little stops that no one knows about. Settled on top of miles of lava fields, the camping areas provide solitude, beauty and wonder. We were in site #19 which is a cove overlooking the lava field. There were no services available. We had to disconnect our toad to make a turn to leave in the morning. The men at the visitors center were helpful and very informative. There is a 1 mile path through the lava field which will give you close up and personal views of the lava, the plant life and animal life. If you get lucky, you'll see a rattler! We highly recommend! We camped at Valley of Fires Recreation Area (BLM) in a Motorhome.

Oasis State Park, Portales, New Mexico

Date of Stay: October, 2019 - $14.00
Overall Rating:

This is a beautiful park that is easily accessible. The biggest problem is the water which is tagged as somewhat unsafe due to high nitrate content. They are working on correcting this, but who wants that water in their system? The showers have a push button that provides about 10 seconds of spray, so you have to keep pushing the button for water. The electric post also is tagged as having insufficient power. We were able to hear the coyotes in the background as dusk settled in. Beautiful sunrise. We camped at Oasis State Park in a Motorhome.

Whistle Stop RV Resort, Abilene, Texas

Date of Stay: October, 2019 - $50.00
Overall Rating:

This is one of the nicest parks we have stayed in. The best feature? The individual restrooms where you can lock the door and don't have to worry about someone else creeping in on you while you are doing 'your business'. The sites are level, gravel, and long enough to keep your toad attached. The women in the front office were professional, sweet, and efficient. We will definitely stay here again if we pass this way! One tip - the location of the trash dumpster should be easier to find. This park has an amazing workout area, playground and pool. It would be great for a family with small children - or just a couple. Nice place! We camped at Whistle Stop RV Resort in a Motorhome.

High Plains Camping, Oakley, Kansas

Date of Stay: September, 2019 - $40.00
Overall Rating:

I cannot rate the restrooms or the showers as to their cleanliness since they would not give a code to them since we have a bathroom in our rig. They say it's because of vandalism. They have the capabilities of changing the code as often as they want - but it's easier to refuse their paying customers the use of their facilities. This is the only campground that we have visited with this policy. Do yourself a favor and keep going. We camped at High Plains Camping in a Motorhome.

Haggard's RV Campground, Pueblo West, Colorado

Date of Stay: September, 2019 - $32.00

Great location half way between Pueblo and Canon City. The owner and her sweet dog met us as we checked in. The park has a cool overlook area, where you can watch the antelope graze each day. We camped at Haggard's RV Campground in a Motorhome.

Santa Fe Skies RV Park, Santa Fe, New Mexico

Date of Stay: September, 2019 - $75.00
Overall Rating:

This is a lovely park with many areas to explore. The walking path around the park was wonderful! The facilities were spotless. They offer free coffee and tea at the office, along with tango lessons on Tuesday evenings. Our only problem with this park is the price. A little steep for what it is. We camped at Santa Fe Skies RV Park in a Motorhome.
