Lindenwood Park, Fargo, North Dakota

Date of Stay: July, 2019 - $30.00
Overall Rating:

Very nice park with lots of open spaces, green grass, a river, and playground. However, the camp sites are all very close to I94 so you will constantly hear traffic noise. The sites along the river are on the short side so unless you have a small camper you will have to park your vehicle sideways or in a spot across the road. My biggest complaint though is that in order to get from the river sites to the dump station, which is only about 50 feet behind the first river site, you have to take this very long road with lots of speed bumps all the way out of the park and then come back into the park, and then of course take that same long road to get out again. The layout of the roads is horrible and most of them are one way. We camped at Lindenwood Park in a Travel Trailer.

Yellowstone Holiday RV Campground & Marina, West Yellowstone, Montana

Date of Stay: July, 2019 - $60.00
Overall Rating:

Well maintained campground and beautiful location. There are 36 campsites and 16 cabins. It's difficult to get one of the sites on the lake as those are reserved for seasonals or return customers. I made my reservation 6 1/2 months ahead of time but the lake sites were not available. There are no trees for shade. Rather, there are tall shrubs. They get a lot of wind from the lake so you may not be able to put your awning out either. When there wasn't much wind, the flies were so bad that we couldn't even sit outside. The wi-fi was very weak at our camp site and we had no cell service either. We were able to get quite a few television stations. We camped at Yellowstone Holiday RV Campground & Marina in a Travel Trailer.

Aspen Grove RV Park, Alpine, Wyoming

Date of Stay: July, 2019 - $50.00
Overall Rating:

We were desperate for a camp site when Gross Verde had no more electric sites available, and this was the only place I found that had a spot for us. The owner was helpful, but the campground is basically an overgrown mess of bushes and trees with a bunch of gravel spots to park a camper on in his back yard. If you look real hard you can get a glimpse of the lake behind his property (no access), but for the most part you can't even see the lake because he has a row of trees blocking the view. There is no Wifi, no television stations, and no cell signal. I wasn't even able to send texts. There are a lot of permanents around too which just make the place look more junky. The price has evidently gone up quite a bit in the last two years but I can't imagine the justification for that. We camped at Aspen Grove RV Park in a Travel Trailer.

Arrowwood Cedar Shore Resort, Oacoma, South Dakota

Date of Stay: July, 2019 - $49.00
Overall Rating:

Very nice, well maintained park. Most of the sites along the river are for seasonals. The back loop is gravel and appears like it was added on at some point. Those sites have smaller trees that branch out into some of the sites and could run against your RV. Our site had no shade. Full hookups. Beautiful view of the river. We camped at Arrowwood Cedar Shore Resort in a Travel Trailer.

Brookside Campground, Blooming Prairie, Minnesota

Date of Stay: May, 2019 - $42.00
Overall Rating:

We stayed here with our camping club. We had 15 units in attendance. The owners were fantastic to work with to coordinate this camp out. The campground is mostly seasonals but they do have about 20 over night sites. The sites are a good size and covered with lush, green grass. There are just the right amount of trees to provide shade but not make it difficult to get in and out of your site. There was a wi-fi booster right next to our site and it worked great. The campground was well maintained. There is a very nice group site with five individual sites around a large fire pit. The pavilion building has sides that can be opened or left closed. Since it was a cold, rainy weekend, the pavilion worked out great for our group to have activities and potluck in. We camped at Brookside Campground in a Travel Trailer.

The Old Barn Resort, Preston, Minnesota

Date of Stay: October, 2018 - $32.00
Overall Rating:

Large campground with plenty of spots for over night camping. Sites are large and grassy. Campground is tiered. The lower part appears to be newer with smaller trees. Bar and restaurant on site. Friendly staff. The only drawback I found was they have pay showers. We camped at The Old Barn Resort in a Travel Trailer.

St. Cloud Campground & RV Park, Saint Cloud, Minnesota

Date of Stay: September, 2018 - $40.00
Overall Rating:

The staff is friendly and helpful. The campground is maintained well. The Rally Center is a great benefit for groups and camping clubs. The pull through sites with full hook ups are a good value at $40 a night, however, the sites are small and very close together. Each site has a gravel pad for parking your camper and about a 10-12 foot wide strip of grass between you and the next camper. It's also very noisy with a shooting range down the road, and trains going through nearby all day and all night with their whistles going. We camped at St. Cloud Campground & RV Park in a Travel Trailer.

Tipsinah Mounds Park, Elbow Lake, Minnesota

Date of Stay: August, 2018 - $41.00
Overall Rating:

Our group had four sites right on the lake plus two tent sites near the beach. The lake sites were a good size and the view was phenomenal. The drawbacks were the ground was all dirt and there are a lot of large oak trees which make it very challenging to back in to some of the sites. The groundskeeper told us that next year he plans to take out some of the problematic trees and put down grass seed in that area. The beach area tent sites aren't really marked as to their boundaries but they are spread apart quite far so they are huge and on lush green grass. There's also many trees in that area and an awesome view of the lake as well. The beach is nice soft sand. There is a floating raft in the lake that the kids loved playing on. There was a wagon ride for the kids in the evening. There is fishing off the dock or you can rent boats, canoes, kayaks, etc. The campground is mostly seasonals. They said they have close to 30 overnight spots, but we only found 16 or so, and half of those are in a large open area with no lake and no trees. This was one of our favorite locations for our family camp out and we had multiple requests from our group to return here. We camped at Tipsinah Mounds Park in a Travel Trailer.

Badgerland Campground, Stoughton, Wisconsin

Date of Stay: July, 2018 - $42.00
Overall Rating:

We stayed at eight different camp grounds on our 2 1/2 week trip. This was the most expensive one, but we have stayed here before and really like it. The sites are large and grassy. There is a cute little bar on site. The staff is helpful and friendly, as are the seasonal campers. There is a swimming pond with a trampoline in the middle of it, and a jumping pad on the beach. We didn't have kids with us so didn't use them but they looked fun for kids. It's a very quiet camp ground. We camped at Badgerland Campground in a Travel Trailer.

Charlarose Lake & Campground, Hillsboro, Indiana

Date of Stay: July, 2018 - $25.00
Overall Rating:

This is a large campground full of seasonals around the outer perimeter. They have about 30 overnight sites in a square around the play ground in the center of the campground. There are just seven trees for these 30 sites, so it's mostly all sunny. The campground is well maintained with lots of green grass. The staff was nice. The owner's teenage grandson brought us our firewood and he was very nice and professional. There is no WiFi here. The owner said they are "too far out in the boonies" and couldn't get it. Cell signal was minimal as well so we had no internet whatsoever. There is a picnic shelter near the playground. There was about 60 people there playing Bingo. I was disappointed that when we checked in, the owner didn't tell us about Bingo, so we got to listen to it go on for an hour or two, but we weren't invited to play. We camped at Charlarose Lake & Campground in a Travel Trailer.

National Road Campground, Zanesville, Ohio

Date of Stay: July, 2018 - $30.00
Overall Rating:

Lots of green grass and trees. The owner here was fantastic. He seems like a very hard working, friendly guy, who runs the whole place himself and is willing to do whatever it takes to make sure you have a pleasant stay. I made reservations for my parents and my family six months in advance and had no communication with the campground in between, but the owner knew who we were by name as soon as we arrived and was eager to help us check in and get situated. There was a wasps nest in one of our electrical boxes so he got some wasp spray and took care of that. Picnic tables and fire rings are not at the sites but the owner offered to bring either or both to us. In the area we were camped there are several tree stumps to beware of. One fell right outside my parents camper door, and another my father nearly hit with the back of his camper when pulling out. The sites across the road from us weren't being used so the owner let us pull our trucks onto the road so that we were situated however was best to be level, avoid the stumps, and to not have to unhook our campers for our overnight stay. We camped at National Road Campground in a Travel Trailer.

Pohick Bay Regional Park, Lorton, Virginia

Date of Stay: July, 2018 - $36.00
Overall Rating:

The girl who checked us in rattled off a very fast, rehearsed and monotone speech with all of the information, rules and directions. We didn't catch any of what she said. We stayed here for a week. All of the sites in the loop that we were in circle around and back up to a noisy playground. Most of those sites at least have some foliage separating them from the playground, but our site was wide open to it. If you have young kids with you, site 22 is the place to be, but if you want quiet then you don't want this site. The road is heavily wooded and the site markers are wood poles placed at the corner of the site driveway and the road. This combination makes it very difficult to back in, even more so when there is someone else camping at the spot across the road which parallels the road and is very narrow. We had to go ahead, turn around in a different site, and then drive the wrong direction on the one way road in order to get into our site. The sites are all dirt with woods in between sites. They pick up the garbage at your site every day if you leave it by the road, although I did not see any information about recycling. It's convenient that they have laundry facilities, but we did have to run the dryer through two cycles each time we did laundry (we used both Comfort Stations and it was the same each time). The park/campground is located on a peninsula and I found that location to be somewhat far from anything else we wanted to do. We did enjoy seeing the bald Eagles in their nest at the cove. We camped at Pohick Bay Regional Park in a Travel Trailer.

Sun Valley Campground, Chillicothe, Ohio

Date of Stay: July, 2018 - $30.00
Overall Rating:

Circumstances beyond our control caused us to need to find a place to stay at the last minute, and this campground was very accommodating. The owner was very friendly. The campground is beautiful and well maintained. There is a lake across the road. We got two pull through sites (we were two rv's traveling together) which had gravel pads and plenty of green grass between. I don't remember the exact rate we paid with a military discount but I believe it was close to $30. We camped at Sun Valley Campground in a Travel Trailer.
