Shelby Country Inn & RV Park, Shelby, Iowa

Date of Stay: June, 2013 - $30.00
Overall Rating:

Office at motel for check in is strange and you have to walk across a lawn from your RV to get to it, as the motel has a separate driveway entrance. The park itself works fine for a stop over and is an easy on and off the interstate. It is basically a parking lot with no grass or trees. The place is for sale, so I wouldn't expect any improvements for some time. I'd look for an alternative. We camped at Shelby Country Inn & RV Park in a Motorhome.

Arizona Charlie's Las Vegas RV Park, Las Vegas, Nevada

Date of Stay: June, 2013 - $35.00
Overall Rating:

Not knowing much about the area, this park is a not a quick trip to the strip and the traffic is heavy. The casino is old and smoky, but the entertainment was good and the steak and eggs for $3.99 was excellent and cooked as ordered. The park was almost empty since it was 112 degrees, but there are also two other parks close by that charge half as much and they were full. The neighborhood is scary, although the park itself felt safe. We found the woman in the office to be curt and not helpful. Wouldn't return. Don't miss Love Cirque de Soleil-highlight of our cross country trip! We camped at Arizona Charlie's Las Vegas RV Park in a Motorhome.

Belvidere East / Exit 170 KOA, Midland, South Dakota

Date of Stay: June, 2013 - $42.00
Overall Rating:

This is a clean, beautiful, quiet park. The owner is very pleasant and helpful. We parked on a cement slab with a new picnic table and brick fire ring. There is a really cool pet playground. An on site restaurant in the office building serves breakfast, lunch, and dinner. Great WiFi and cable. Finding directions with MapQuest, etc. got confusing. Just take I-90 to Exit 170 and go right half a mile. There are plenty of signs. We wish all campgrounds were like this. It was only $2 more than the last place and that was nowhere near as nice. We camped at Belvidere East / Exit 170 KOA in a Motorhome.

Timber Ridge Campground, Amherst, Ohio

Date of Stay: June, 2013 - $30.00
Overall Rating:

The biggest drawback to this campground is the round-about hilly road getting to it. The owner is very nice and the campground is undergoing a huge expansion. This would be better as a destination campground than for a one night stop. We camped at Timber Ridge Campground in a Motorhome.

Overall Rating:

Easy on and off I-80. Big rig friendly. Very tranquil setting. Helpful hosts. Don't miss the interesting tree used by Native Americans as a marker. Will be staying again on our trip back home. We camped at Woodland Campground in a Motorhome.

Creekside Campground, Edinburg, Virginia

Date of Stay: April, 2012 - $37.00
Overall Rating:

We stopped here for just one night, but wish we had time to stay longer. The road going down to the campground entrance is steep, but certainly do-able with a 40 ft motor home. We parked in what the sweet gentleman called the "honeymoon suite" for which he charged nothing extra because they were not busy. The site pulls right up to a deck that overlooks the stream. Ducks eat right out of your hand. We were far from the office so could not get Wi-Fi reception, but the site was so beautiful that it was worth driving up to the office and using my computer in my car. We would certainly return and would pay full price for that site if necessary. We camped at Creekside Campground in a Motorhome.

Fieldridge Acres, Charlotte, North Carolina

Date of Stay: April, 2012 - $20.00
Overall Rating:

This park is close to everything. The managers guided us into our site and were very friendly. The TV reception was not the greatest, but the park was quiet and clean. Well worth the $20, which is hard to find these days especially near a big city. We would return. We camped at Fieldridge Acres in a Motorhome.

Tom's Cove Park, Chincoteague, Virginia

Date of Stay: October, 2010 - $44.00
Overall Rating:

This is an old campground with mostly long term sites, however, the short stay area is away from the rest and directly on the ocean. The sites are very large and divided by split rail type fences. Compared to the other campgrounds on the island, this looked to be the best. The office help had little knowledge of the area and were rather too laid back-"the sites might be muddy so pick whichever one you want". The office smelled terrible. If you want to see the wild ponies, this is as good as it gets. We camped at Tom's Cove Park in a Motorhome.

Adventure Bound Camping Resorts - Washington DC, Lothian, Maryland

Date of Stay: October, 2010 - $41.00
Overall Rating:

We stayed here as it is only 20 minutes to Annapolis Naval Academy. The sites were poorly marked, and some had huge puddles. The office staff was very slow, and the check-in took more than 15 minutes as the woman was on the phone and evidently the other person couldn't check us in. Many long term sites. Cable was on and off constantly. Campground is in need of updating. We camped at Adventure Bound Camping Resorts - Washington DC in a Motorhome.

Philadelphia / West Chester KOA, Coatesville, Pennsylvania

Date of Stay: October, 2010 - $45.00
Overall Rating:

The only reason I rated this as a 9 was because the road to the campground is extremely narrow and very winding-very winding. The campground itself is absolutely spotless, and the sites were level and roomy. The fall foliage there was beautiful as is the surrounding area. The staff was very helpful and professional. The campground is about half an hour from the QVC Studio which provides tours for $7.50-a little high, but a different take. We camped at Philadelphia / West Chester KOA in a Motorhome.

Little Red Barn Campground, Quakertown, Pennsylvania

Date of Stay: October, 2010 - $35.00
Overall Rating:

We paid for two nights, but we left after one. The "Pull Thru" had too sharp a turn so we had to back in. Since this campground was in the middle of nowhere, it is easy to get lost and the roads in the area are very winding and narrow. We had to call the campground for directions and they couldn't tell us how to get there when we were actually only 10 miles away. The man at the office acted like he didn't want to be there at all. Our spot was very isolated and pitch dark. Thankfully we got satellite reception. There are many long term and storage spots which makes it an eyesore. Skip this one. We camped at Little Red Barn Campground in a Motorhome.

Holiday Cove RV Resort, Cortez, Florida

Date of Stay: January, 2008 - $65.00
Overall Rating:

We stayed at this park last year and enjoyed it. The park has been sold and the sites are being sold as RV lots (for very high prices). Strange cars drove through daily-checking out the lots, most likely but it left us a bit uneasy. We were somewhat disappointed in the upkeep of the park this year and the pool was either closed or too cold and they advertise it as heated. The bushes between the park and the busy street have been trimmed way down so it was also much noisier. The manager got angry and yelled at us because we had trouble with the WiFi. We camped at Holiday Cove RV Resort in a Fifth Wheel.

Black Bear Campground, Florida, New York

Date of Stay: October, 2006 - $38.00
Overall Rating:

Road to the upper sites was tricky with a Big Rig but possible. You must unhook at the office. Park needs lots of work. Office staff pleasant but either we were overcharged for a back-in or the price was outrageous for this park. There are not many parks in this area and the drive to West Point was 45 minutes. We camped at Black Bear Campground in a Motorhome.

Pioneer RV Resort (55+ park), Phoenix, Arizona

Date of Stay: November, 2005 - $28.00
Overall Rating:

Pioneer RV Park is 3 miles from Super Wal-Mart and Outlet Shopping but has the isolated desert atmosphere. Close to US17 but not noisy. Hot air balloons launch several times a week from the desert right next to park. Forty pull throughs, but mostly a seasonal adult community. Monthly reservation age minimum is 42. Indoor pool and Jacuzzi. Many activities and very clean, friendly and quiet. A hidden treasure if you love the desert. Twenty minutes to Phoenix attractions. We camped at Pioneer RV Resort (55+ park) in a Motorhome.
