French Quarter RV Resort, New Orleans, Louisiana

Date of Stay: January, 2019 - $105.00
Overall Rating:

We recently stayed 3 nights here at $105/night for a 35' motorhome. We were dissatisfied with our stay for the following reasons: 1. We were traveling with friends in another motorhome and requested that we have sites near each other. We were told that sites were not assigned in advance, assuming that we would have a chance to select nearby sites when we arrived. When we got there, we found that both our sites had been pre-assigned and were not close together. There were many vacant sites. We asked again if we could get sites close together and were told that sites had been assigned and could not be changed. Unfriendly and uncooperative. 2. One of the reasons we selected FQRV again was for the security that existed for previous stays: closed gates for both vehicles and pedestrians. This time the gate was wide open the entire time we were there. When we asked at the desk, we were told that the gates were broken (apparently for a long time), but that they were constantly watched, whatever that means. We never saw anyone watching them on many times in and out. 3. When we paid our bill, we were given a receipt with the wrong name, wrong site #, and for dates the following month. 4. There were many dogs that were often barking. We will certainly look for another place when we return to New Orleans. We camped at French Quarter RV Resort in a Motorhome.

Colonia del Rey RV Park, Corpus Christi, Texas

Date of Stay: May, 2012 - $36.00
Overall Rating:

We stayed here for 3 nights and found it to be a pleasant campground. The sites are no closer together than most parks. The office staff was extremely helpful. When we arrived I asked if our reserved site had shade and was told it didn't. One of the ladies drove me around in a golf cart to show me which sites were available, and I was able to choose one that was shady. Most of the sites did offer shade. The campground was about 20 minutes from Padre Island, which wasn't much of a beach. We would stay at this campground again. We camped at Colonia del Rey RV Park in a Motorhome.

South Main RV Park, Houston, Texas

Date of Stay: February, 2012 - $40.00
Overall Rating:

We stayed here to go to MD Anderson Hospital. The park is 10 minutes from the medical facilities and there is a shuttle to and from many of the hospitals. The campground is clean and well kept. The staff was excellent and understanding about the uncertainty of the number of days we would need a site. They also offer a reduced rate for those staying for medical reasons. If we need to return to MDA, we will definitely stay at this campground. We camped at South Main RV Park in a Motorhome.

Lakeside Camping, Island Pond, Vermont

Date of Stay: August, 2011 - $38.00
Overall Rating:

The beach area was very nice. The sites on the lake are jammed together, like a parking lot. We stayed in a pull through on top of the hill where the sites were also close, but had an empty site on either side. There are no garbage cans or dumpster, but for $3.75 you can buy a special garbage bag. They do recycle clear plastic, newspaper, cans and glass so that cuts down on garbage, but where do you store garbage until you leave? They advertise bicycling as an amenity, but also state in the rules that bicycle riding is not allowed. The map shows only one laundry room that has 4 washers and dryers. Not a lot for a campground with 200 sites. We camped at Lakeside Camping in a Motorhome.

Maumee Bay State Park, Oregon, Ohio

Date of Stay: July, 2011 - $26.00
Overall Rating:

The campground is not located close to the lake. We expected to be able to walk to the swimming area. There are very few sites that have any shade. The park is clean and well maintained. The staff is very polite. We would not stay here again in the summer- not enough shade. We camped at Maumee Bay State Park in a Motorhome.

Twin Falls Resort State Park, Mullens, West Virginia

Date of Stay: August, 2008 - $20.00
Overall Rating:

We were really disappointed with this WV state park. Most of the electric sites that we could fit in (35'), were quite unlevel and even with blocks and jacks, couldn't level it out. There was a dog at one of the campsites that barked for 4 hours, and nothing was done. There are some nice hiking trails, and a fun golf course. The pool is not close by and they charge $3 a person even if you are staying in the park. We will not go back. We camped at Twin Falls Resort State Park in a Motorhome.

Goose Point Campground COE, Bassett, Virginia

Date of Stay: August, 2008 - $21.00
Overall Rating:

This is one of our favorite campgrounds and we drive from Florida to enjoy it. Many of the campsites in loop C overlook the lake and can be reserved. There are no sewers, but the bath houses are very clean. In the past we have really enjoyed the beach and lake swimming, but this year the lake was way down. The swimming wasn't as nice due to a muddy bottom, rather than the usual sand, but we still enjoyed it. There is no cell phone service. We camped at Goose Point Campground COE in a Motorhome.

Harbor Hills Campground, Meredith, New Hampshire

Date of Stay: August, 2008 - $36.00
Overall Rating:

The park is extremely well kept. There are both shaded and sunny sites, with the majority in the shade. The people at the front desk are outstanding. They go out of their way to help. We would definitely stay here again. We camped at Harbor Hills Campground in a Motorhome.
