Grand Marais RV Park & Campground, Grand Marais, Minnesota

Date of Stay: September, 2019 - $40.00
Overall Rating:

This will be our second stay here and we enjoy the park and the town very much. Our campsite this year is quite large, allowing for our trailer, a screen tent and pleanty of room for parking our tow vehicle as well. The site is level gravel with moderate shade. All utilities worked reasonably well with the exception of some mysterious water pressure fluxuations. Still not sure if it's a problem with the park system our something onboard. Won't know until we hook up elsewhere. Otherwise electric was strong and steady. Sewer port was clean and accessable. This is a very busy park and resevations must be made MONTHS in advance as is the case with many popular destinations nowadays, but experience is well worth the advanced planning. We had good reception for our portable DISH receiver and Verizon has a good signal here, both voice and data. The campground offers no WiFi other than right in the office which is surprising. The town of Grand Marais is wonderful with lots to do and is a short walk away. This is a great place to spend a week or two. We hope to return again one day. We camped at Grand Marais RV Park & Campground in a Travel Trailer.

Cordele KOA, Cordele, Georgia

Date of Stay: August, 2019 - $41.00
Overall Rating:

This is a nice campgroound for an overnight. We have stayed here many times over the years and have always had a pleasant stay. Access to I-75 is quite good, and in spite of its close proximity there is very little road noise noticeable at the campsite. All of the utilities worked very well. Electric was strong and steady despite the fact that everyone was running AC. Water pressure was good and sewer port was clean and accessible. Clearly they have improved the park WiFi. I got a good strong signal with no need for a booster and thru put was more than adequate. The staff was friendly and polite as always. They always point out the gnat problem and apologise although there is nothing they can do about it. It's Georgia in the summertime, simple as that. We enjoyed our overnight stay and will do so again. We camped at Cordele KOA in a Travel Trailer.

North Myrtle Beach RV Resort and Dry Dock Marina, Little River, South Carolina

Date of Stay: April, 2019 - $45.00
Overall Rating:

As mentioned in other reviews, this is a very nice, new facility. The staff was very friendly and helpful. The grounds were immaculate with spacious concrete sites, each with a patio, picnic table and fire ring. All utilities worked very well. Electric was good with steady voltage. Water pressure was good and water tasted clean and fresh. The WiFi signal was strong, but the thru-put suffered during peak use hours. My Verizon signal was steady. The only issue we had at this park was the placement of the sewer ports in most if not all of the back in sites. For some reason the builders elected to place the sewer ports (hookups) at the very rear of the concrete slabs, causing myself and others to have to lay out practically every foot of sewer line we carried. Thankfully we had enough. Tip: Bring sewer hose extensions! Other than that minor inconvenience we were very happy with our stay here. We will definitely return. We camped at North Myrtle Beach RV Resort and Dry Dock Marina in a Travel Trailer.

Jekyll Island Campground, Jekyll Island, Georgia

Date of Stay: April, 2019 - $48.00
Overall Rating:

This a very nice campground on a very nice island. Our site #E-6 was reasonably level with a little maneuvering. All utilities worked well. Water pressure was good, water tasted clean and fresh. Electric was stable with good voltage. Sewer port was clean and accessible. Cable TV was not bad although I'm getting spoiled by High Def. Satellite reception would be difficult in most spaces here as the majority of the campground is wooded, providing some welcome shade. WiFi was surprisingly good, and Verizon signal strong. Campground hosts were friendly and helpful. When the wind is still the biting gnats are a problem. I would recommend bringing along some sort of screened enclosure if you expect to sit outside. It is low country Georgia after all. Nice place to visit as there is much to do. Bring a bicycle! We will definitely return. We camped at Jekyll Island Campground in a Travel Trailer.

Angler's RV Campground (formerly Rainbow Country RV Campground), Cedar Key, Florida

Date of Stay: January, 2019 - $29.00
Overall Rating:

This is clearly an older park, but reasonably well maintained. If you're looking for a "glamping" experience Angler's isn't for you. The staff was friendly when you can find them. Office hours were somewhat erratic. All utilities work well. Electric was stable, water pressure a bit low, sewer port clean and conveniently located. The campground WiFi was pretty good, although it would get overwhelmed from time to time. Our site was close to the "main" road which as main roads go wasn't very busy so road noise wasn't really an issue. The interior roads in the campground are pretty rough making speed bumps unnecessary. We were parked in a row of fairly shabby rigs that looked like they'd been here awhile. Not a bad place overall, but after looking around we discovered a few places that would have suited us better. I doubt we will stay here again. We camped at Angler's RV Campground (formerly Rainbow Country RV Campground) in a Travel Trailer.

Lincoln / Woodstock KOA, Woodstock, New Hampshire

Date of Stay: August, 2018 - $56.00
Overall Rating:

This is a "Destination" KOA so be prepared for lots of kids having a wonderful time. Personally we enjoy seeing kids out of doors having fun rather than head down in an electronic device, but they can be noisy. I have no problem with that. What I did have a big problem with was the inflatable jump pad at this campground. If you find yourself in a campsite at the south end of the property, the turbo-fans that keep the jump pad inflated will make you crazy with their constant whine. It is impossible to sit outside and enjoy a quiet afternoon with that thing running. A very simple solution would be for the campground to build an enclosure around the fans. This would attenuate the noise significantly. Unfortunately, when I suggested this to one staff member I was politely told, "That ain't going to happen." Too bad, because it cost them points in my review. Othewise our stay here was just fine. Our site was level and nicely shaded. All utilities worked well including the WiFi which I am usually critical of. There is lots to see and do in the area. Hiking trails abound in the White Mountains. Or if you feel like taking a nice scenic drive, take a trip across the Kancamagus Highway, Rt 112 east out of Lincoln, HN, just up the road. It's a lovely drive. I suppose we would stay here again, if they fix the turo-fan problem. We camped at Lincoln / Woodstock KOA in a Travel Trailer.

Cedar Haven Campground, Freeport, Maine

Date of Stay: August, 2018 - $46.00
Overall Rating:

This is a very nice little campground. The staff is very friendly and helpful. Our site was a level gravel site. All utilities worked quite well. WiFi was the best I've seen this trip. Verizon signal is good. Only OTA television as most sites are tree covered. Easy access to I-295 and lots to do in town with LL Bean's Flagship store nearby. We would definitely stay here again. Bar Harbor / Oceanside KOA, Bar Harbor, Maine

Date of Stay: August, 2018 - $95.00
Overall Rating:

This campground is indeed what I would call a resort, and naturally the price is a little higher than many, especially on season. Both my wife and I agree however, that it is well worth it. After spending a week dry camping in a national park campground, we really felt like we were "glamping" here at KOA. We stayed four days in a dead level gravel site with a lovely view of the narrows. All the utilites (water and electric) worked very well. With the aid of my booster, the WiFi was acceptable and the campground says they're in the process of making big improvements. Verizon signal was marginal but useable unlike in most areas of Mt. Desert Island. The park features great play areas for kids and a really nice dog park. Everywhere we've been up here has been extremely dog friendly. There are lobster and BBQ dinners available every night. Haven't tried it, but it looks to be quite popular. Pumpout service is available if you're staying for awhile in a W&E site. Laundry, showers and a nice clean bath house also provided. The large staff here were all very friendly and accomodating. All in all we had a great time here, and we will surely return. We camped at Bar Harbor / Oceanside KOA in a Travel Trailer.

Seawall Campground (NPS Campground), Southwest Harbor, Maine

Date of Stay: August, 2018 - $15.00
Overall Rating:

Seawall is a typical National Park campground, so dry camping is the order of the day. Our site was heavily shaded and quite spacious. Leveling the trailer was a bit of a challenge, but we managed. Bath houses (no showers) were conveniently located as were potable water spiggots. We were in the "C" loop where generators are allowed, and thankfully it appears that most campers are now using the quieter inverter type machines. There were one or two exceptions but they weren't nearby. We have used a Honda 3000is for years and find it to be an excellent power source when needed. Solar was difficult in this park due to rather dense forest. We enjoyed our stay here and will return in the future. We camped at Seawall Campground (NPS Campground) in a Travel Trailer.

Baker River Campground, Rumney, New Hampshire

Date of Stay: August, 2018 - $40.00
Overall Rating:

We stayed at this campground while visiting friends in the area. I must say the site is better suited for tenters. The access road and roads within the camp were narrow and rough. Numerous pot holes make it easy to maintain the park speed limit, that much is certain. This campground is on river bottom land so be ready for lots of bugs and lots of sand in your rig. Our site was level sand next to the bath house. It was a water and electric site. Utilities were located at the rear of the site, making it necessary for me to drag out my 50' hose. Electric was steady with good voltage. Water pressure was good. We visited the dump station upon leaving the park, and as mentioned in other reviews, it was difficult to navigate. All in all, we were not impressed with this campground and would probably not stay here again. We camped at Baker River Campground in a Travel Trailer.

Harrisburg East Campground, Harrisburg, Pennsylvania

Date of Stay: August, 2018 - $56.00
Overall Rating:

This is a nice clean park and a great place to overnight. We are just passing through on our way to Maine, but I've heard there are a lot of attractions in the area. I wouldn't hesitate to stay here longer in that case. The staff person on duty was very friendly and helpful and offered to lead us to our site, but the roads were smooth and easy to navigate so we declined her offer. Our gravel site is neat and level. All utilities are nicely placed for easy access. The electric service is steady with good voltage. The water pressure is good, the sewer port clean and accessable. Refreshingly after the last park in which we stayed, the WiFi service here is quite good. Also Verizon service in the area is strong. The park cable TV worked well. Didn't try the OTA service. I agree with another review, they offer a very nice dog play area here. All in all this is a nice place to visit. We would not hesitate to return. We camped at Harrisburg East Campground in a Travel Trailer.

Small Country Campground, Louisa, Virginia

Date of Stay: July, 2018 - $47.00
Overall Rating:

We have stayed at Small Country several times over the years while in the area visiting family. Each time we return they seem to have expanded. The last time it was a very nice miniature golf course. This is a very family friendly campground. Kids appear to have a ball here. We generally stay up on the hill in the premium sites which are fairly large and level. They are open sites so my portable dish works well. Athough they do provide satellite "cable" in these sites, I prefer my own programming. Our site was gravel and nicely level. Water and electric hookups were placed well, although the 30 amp outlet in our pedistal was burned. Thankfully I have a 50/30 amp pigtail. The sewer ports in this area of the campground are raised for some reason, making it dificult to find a site where the campground hookup is lower than the sewer outlet on the Airstream. The staff was very helpful and accomodating and allowed us to find a site that would suit. OTA television is available and not bad. The WiFi in this campground has always been and continues to be terrible. Good signal strength but very poor thruput, and unfortunately Verizon is quite weak here as well. Bring a book! My wife also mentioned that the laundry facility could use some attention. Otherwise we enjoyed our stay and will probably return. We camped at Small Country Campground in a Travel Trailer.

Nice park for an overnight. We have stayed here several times on our trips here and there. Close to I-95 but very little road noise. All utilities work well. WiFi leaves a bit to be desired, but after all, we're supposed to be camping. Campground was very clean and well maintained. Be sure you have a good welcome mat. It is very sandy. Big Hart Campground COE, Thomson, Georgia

Date of Stay: April, 2018 - $13.00
Overall Rating:

This is a lovely setting. Our lake side site was a gravel pull-thru that easily accommodated our 25' Airstream with ample room to park the truck (not always the case in many campgrounds). The site was nearly level requiring minimal adjustment. 30 amp power and water were conveniently located and worked well. Our site was fairly well tree covered so satellite TV was out of the question, however I was able to get good OTA reception from nearby Augusta stations on all major networks. Contrary to other reviews, my Verizon service worked quite well. The staff here is outstanding. They went out of their way to accommodate our needs. We stayed 5 nights at this campground and will make a point of coming back in the near future. We camped at Big Hart Campground COE in a Travel Trailer.

Grand Marais RV Park & Campground, Grand Marais, Minnesota

Date of Stay: September, 2017 - $33.00
Overall Rating:

We very much enjoyed our stay here. This is a great campground and very busy. If you wish to stay here for any kind of time, you need to make reservations early. Our site was great. Even though "the neighbors" were right next door, there were enough trees around us to give the site a secluded feeling. All utilities worked well. Water pressure was good, sewer port clean and accessible. The electric service voltage was a little high - 132 v - so I elected to use our transformer. Contrary to other reviews, my Verizon signal was strong with good 4G LTE coverage. That is a good thing, because there is no WiFi in the campground other than at the office, a fact which they make abundantly clear. I enjoy the great outdoors as much as the next man, however, these days people have come to expect internet access. They should consider installing a proper network. The ambiance of the town of Grand Marais is marvelous and the views of the lake from the campground are wonderful. There was a great music festival at the park while we were there. We plan to come back soon. We camped at Grand Marais RV Park & Campground in a Travel Trailer.
