Tucson / Lazydays KOA, Tucson, Arizona

Date of Stay: February, 2019 - $32.00
Overall Rating:

Nightly rate above is based on current (2018-2019) monthly rate. Daily is in the 60's. My ratings below are based upon current analysis and future plans.

10 - senior work campers are great! Other staff are OK. They pick up garbage all day long and offer recycling bins.

9 - Standard pull thru sites are fine - mostly level, all gravel with patio and metal tables. Full hookups placed appropriately.

8- Amenities are fine. Park attempts to offer activities for all ages (remember this is not an 55+ Park). Outside heated pool. Two pickle ball courts (without enclosure so perhaps one has a dog that can retrieve passed balls).

But 1 - as one of the nicest Parks in Tucson, it seems to be trying to take advantage of its success. Current monthly rates for standard pull-thru sites are $945/month. In 2019-20, those same site prices will increase to $1295/month, a 34% increase, and for February, 2020, the monthly rate will be $1395/month, a 45% increase. To me, this is gouging. I've wintered in this Park for over 6 years and will strongly consider options for the future. You know what "KOA" stands for, right? ("Keep On Adding") No longer a family park, it is trying to be a high-end coach park. And if you would like a "premium site", like having an 8 by 10 patch of grass, be prepared to pay for it! Maybe that's what corporate (KOA owns it, not a franchise) wants! Sad! We camped at Tucson / Lazydays KOA in a Motorhome.

Willcox / Cochise, AZ KOA, Willcox, Arizona

Date of Stay: February, 2019 - $47.00
Overall Rating:

New owners did a great job cleaning up and improving the Park. Staff were great. Rangers took you to your site. Rest rooms were clean. Wi-fi was good. Cable TV had many channels (except for no ESPN - sad). Restaurant on site with pizza in evenings and full breakfast in morning. If traveling through this area, we would return. Only negative was that it is close to the Interstate. Noise on the road side but not an issue further away. Low monthly but no weekly rates. Spend a week and pay for 6 at nightly rate, 7th night free. We camped at Willcox / Cochise, AZ KOA in a Motorhome.

Egg Harbor Campground & RV Resort, Egg Harbor, Wisconsin

Date of Stay: September, 2018 - $64.00
Overall Rating:

We camped in the new executive section. All sites and patios were concrete. Good Wi-fi access. Sites were reasonably spacious. Staff were professional and friendly. Campground is in a rural setting but very close to all the amenities provided by Door County. The rate was a bit pricey but the management went to great care to develop the new sites for big rigs...and it was full. The older portion of the Park was heavily wooded and close quarters. The only negative, as reported previously, was that the streets were gravel causing dusty conditions. Nonetheless, we will return and have reservations for a longer stay next year. We camped at Egg Harbor Campground & RV Resort in a Motorhome.

Whistle Stop RV Resort, Abilene, Texas

Date of Stay: November, 2017 - $45.00
Overall Rating:

This is a new Park, having opened in 2016. On the positive, spacious and level streets and sites. Office staff were extremely friendly and helpful. Nice pool area. Private bathroom/showers were clean and modern. The Park is located on a frontage road in Abilene adjacent to I-20. There was minimal road noise. Wi-Fi signal was strong. On the negative, the Park is easier to access coming from the West than from the East. Since all the internal streets and sites are gravel, it is somewhat dusty. There are a number of long-term guests who depart for work early in the morning. Being a new Park, I wish they had made the site pads a little wider. I noticed a number of sites where guests have driven off the gravel and onto the grass/dirt as they entered and departed. The grass is minimal and there is a lot of "Texas Clay" on the grounds - something they are aware of and are trying to remedy. We'll definitely return in the future. We camped at Whistle Stop RV Resort in a Motorhome.

Alsatian Resort & Golf Club, Castroville, Texas

Date of Stay: January, 2017 - $50.00
Overall Rating:

This is our first time visiting the Park. We were impressed with the long and level concrete sites, full concrete streets and patios. Sites are reasonably spacious and utilities are placed conveniently away from slideouts. I would concur with the shower comment - no dressing area. The only private shower is in the handicap room with a commode. The Park was almost full so reservations would be highly recommended. The town of Castroville is very quaint. We will return. We camped at Alsatian Resort & Golf Club in a Motorhome.

Hacienda RV Resort, Las Cruces, New Mexico

Date of Stay: November, 2016 - $45.00
Overall Rating:

The pull-thru sites are level, long enough for coach and tow and all gravel. The Wi-Fi works well. We dislike the closeness of each pair of sites sharing common utility hookups locations. Offering few other amenities, I believe the nightly fees are over-priced. Nonetheless, we'll probably "bite the bullet" anyway as we travel east/west because it is conveniently located to I-10 and seems to be the nicest Park in the area. We camped at Hacienda RV Resort in a Motorhome.

Van Horn RV Park (formerly Van Horn KOA), Van Horn, Texas

Date of Stay: November, 2016 - $36.00
Overall Rating:

On a positive note, the staff are very accommodating, the pull thru sites are long and level, the rest rooms were clean as well as the Park in general. Further, their diner produces some very tasty meals. They even deliver to your site. On a negative side, there are sand burrs everywhere! Our dog could not walk in what little grass there was and even the designated pet areas were filled with burrs. We even had to scrap off our shoes entering the coach of burrs buried in the soles. In our judgement, the issue could be remedied by removing all the attempts at grass and gravel the entire Park. We will probably write this Park off our list as long as we have pets that need to eliminate outside. We camped at Van Horn RV Park (formerly Van Horn KOA) in a Motorhome.

Al's Oasis Campground, Oacoma, South Dakota

Date of Stay: September, 2016 - $37.00
Overall Rating:

All sites are gravel, close to each other and no patios. There is partial shade at many sites. Most of the sites are reasonably level but that depends on the area in which one is parked. The massive restrooms seemed clean. The negative is that the Park is about 75 yards off the interstate so if one wishes to sleep with the windows open, one may have a challenge having a quiet, peaceful, night. Nonetheless, I would stay here again for an overnight. We camped at Al's Oasis Campground in a Motorhome.

Minneapolis Northwest KOA, Rogers, Minnesota

Date of Stay: September, 2016 - $40.00
Overall Rating:

This Park is located approximately 4 or 5 miles off the Interstate in a very busy & growing area. With no fault of the staff, we camped there after much rain so the gravel streets and gravel sites were very muddy. Nonetheless, our site was level and didn't have any trees on it enabling us to access our satellite services. This would not be our preferred location for a future visit but would probably return if necessary. We camped at Minneapolis Northwest KOA in a Motorhome.

Jamestown Campground, Jamestown, North Dakota

Date of Stay: September, 2016 - $37.00
Overall Rating:

The washboard gravel frontage road of almost a mile in length leading to the Park is horrible. The owner/managers are friendly. When they learned I had a stationary satellite receiver on top of my coach, they tried to ensure I was parked in a site where I could get coverage. However, contrary to their assurances, I could not depart from my site without unhooking the tow vehicle. If one has a "big rig" do not take Site 48! Staff failed to give me the restroom access code when I checked in so I was unable to use it the next morning. I would return only if the frontage road is finally paved! We camped at Jamestown Campground in a Motorhome.

Glendive RV Park & Campground, Glendive, Montana

Date of Stay: September, 2016 - $28.00
Overall Rating:

This Park has been closed for a few years & just re-opened in July, 2016. At this time they have no advertising in any of the RV directories or along the highway. We only stopped there after having stayed there 10 years ago. The brother of the property owner runs the facility and has his office in the hotel immediately in front of the Park. Be careful driving into the Park as the gravel street (on city property, not Park property) has extreme ruts! The manager has indicated that he will not be running the campground after this year and assumes a resident manager will be hired. Call ahead! We camped at Glendive RV Park & Campground in a Motorhome.

Yellowstone Grizzly RV Park & Cabins, West Yellowstone, Montana

Date of Stay: September, 2016 - $69.00
Overall Rating:

This is a great "destination park" when one wishes to visit Yellowstone National Park. The nightly price reflects a premium site. All streets are paved and sites/patios are cement. Wi-Fi was available and we had a strong signal. Staff are extremely friendly and professional. We have stayed here a number of times and will definitely return. Billings KOA, Billings, Montana

Date of Stay: September, 2016 - $69.00
Overall Rating:

This is the original KOA. Our price reflects parking in their premium (sites 1-6) section. Restrooms are "private" and each one is as nice as one would have in their home. If one has a stationary satellite dish, it may be difficult to get a signal. However, the Park's cable has a full array of channels. We have stayed here previously and would return when we are again in the area. We camped at Billings KOA in a Motorhome.

Elkhorn Ridge RV Resort & Cabins, Spearfish, South Dakota

Date of Stay: September, 2016 - $40.00
Overall Rating:

Elk Ridge is a very nice RV Park. Staff are friendly and professional. All sites & patios are cement and streets are all paved. Pull thru sites are very long & level with adequate space between sites. The restrooms are private (each includes a shower, commode and sink) and clean. If I were to make a suggestion for management, the cement slabs could have been a couple feet wider allowing the ability to walk around the coach without having to walk on the grass. We'll definitely plan to stop here again in the future. We camped at Elkhorn Ridge RV Resort & Cabins in a Motorhome.

Grand Casino Hinckley RV Resort, Hinckley, Minnesota

Date of Stay: July, 2016 - $26.00
Overall Rating:

Price reflects mid-week rates. Prices are higher on weekends.

All interior streets, sites and patios are asphalt. During hot days, it would be suggested to use blocks under your jacks. Park is kept very clean. Shuttle buses to the casino run continuously. Wi-Fi was decent. Most trees are small enough not to interfere with satellite reception. The large bathhouse in middle of Park was very clean. We camped at Grand Casino Hinckley RV Resort in a Motorhome.
