Cave Country RV Campground, Cave City, Kentucky

Date of Stay: June, 2019 - $40.00
Overall Rating:

Very nice campground. The sites are level, the cable is good, there is a picnic table and the hook-ups were easy. The bathrooms are very clean and in the women's shower (I can't speak for the men's) there was a nice bench and 4, count them, 4 hooks. The landscaping is nice. Road noise and train noise are minimal. They are very particular about their grass. We would definitely stay here again. We camped at Cave Country RV Campground in a Motorhome.

Tips for other Campers:

There are many choices for cave tours and you can make your choices online. There is a Cracker Barrel nearby but we drove up to Hodgenville to the Lincoln birthplace and ate at Brooks Cafe, a cool little mom and pop. Everyone will welcome you and come up to talk. Funny, one of the regulars paid our bill without our knowing. We paid it forward.

Two Rivers Campground, Nashville, Tennessee

Date of Stay: June, 2019 - $47.00
Overall Rating:

This park is quite conveniently located for touring Nashville, especially since there is a $10 round-trip shuttle daily from 9:30 am to 2:00 am. The park is within 2 miles of the Grand Old Opry. (BTW, don't pay for the Opry parking, use the mall parking lot which is right next to the Opry. In fact the ticket office tells you to do this.) The gravel sites are level, the hook-ups are easy (the water hook-up is insulated for winter.) There was a cement patio and picnic table with our site. The cement was cracked and the picnic table was older but serviceable. The cable is good but the internet is not the best. Good value for the location of the campground. We especially enjoyed the shuttle into town. We would not want to park in town near the museums. The live music on some nights was quite a treat. We did not try the pool but on hot muggy days, lots of others did. We camped at Two Rivers Campground in a Motorhome.

Tips for other Campers:

We toured the Stones River Civil War Battle Ground. Very nice and informative. We also took a one-hour tour of the Nissan plant in Smyrna, just south of Nashville. President Andrew Jackson's Hermitage was also a good place to tour. If you like lots of people, lots of noise and lots of commotion, you'll love downtown Nashville. Get your Opry tickets early. We saw lots of people disappointed when they got to the box office and learned that only SRO tickets were available.

Clarksville RV Park & Campground, Clarksville, Tennessee

Date of Stay: June, 2019 - $40.00
Overall Rating:

Very nice campground. Right off of Interstate 24, long, level sites with easy hook-ups, a fire pit and a picnic table. Nice grassy sites, clean facilities, small store with t-shirts, some food items and some RV items. Nice clean pool, a community fire pit, and swings for the kids. The highway is a bit loud at times but hardly noticeable most of the time. The junkyard across the street is just an eyesore and I'm sure the campground would love to see it gone. We would definitely stay here again. Convenient, clean, nice facilities. We camped at Clarksville RV Park & Campground in a Motorhome.

Illinois State Fair Campgrounds, Springfield, Illinois

Date of Stay: June, 2019 - $18.00
Overall Rating:

This park has a variety of campsites, some are on grass, some on asphalt with differences in hook-ups. During the Fair, you have to apply for the sites and can ask for any that you want though there is no guarantee you will get it. However, we were here in June and got our pick of the sites first come, first served. We picked a full hook-up site in section D on asphalt which, during the fair, is a handicapped site but, is available to anyone when the fair is not in session. In truth it was not a glamorous site but: it had full hook-ups with 50A, was on a level surface and was only $18 since we were there for a week. The sewer hook-up is, as others have said, on the other side of a short fence and will require several hoses. there is no picnic table and no fire pit. It is what it is. It is very convenient to town, shopping and the Lincoln sites. It was extremely easy to back in since there were few others there. Would we take it again? Absolutely. It suited us just fine. We camped at Illinois State Fair Campgrounds in a Motorhome.

Lincoln home, LIncoln pew, Lincoln Depot, Lincoln tomb on Tuesday when they have the flag lowering. Don't miss the Dana Thomas home designed and built by Frank Lloyd Wright. We also took in quite a few talks: 3 by Grant, one by freed slaves in the Union army, a talk about being a maid in the mid 1800's and others. Be sure to visit the VC and get your free parking pass.

John F. Kennedy Memorial Park, Fort Dodge, Iowa

Date of Stay: May, 2019 - $22.00
Overall Rating:

Marvelous campground. The sites are gravel and, as others have stated, there are only 29 full hook-up sites but the others have 50A electricity and there is a dump. We've stayed at both the full hook-ups and electricity only and they are all good. The sites are mostly level and the hook-ups are good but the sewer is way at the back of the site. There are lots of trees and grass between sites. there is a nice trail around the lake and a bird watching cover on it. It goes over a dam and around a memorial site.Very nice trail. There is a limit of 14 days between Memorial and Labor Days but otherwise, you can stay as long as you wish. there are lots of area workers who live here between Labor and Memorial Days and it is hard to get a full hook-up site. On weekends, the park fills up. We camped at John F. Kennedy Memorial Park in a Motorhome.

Glenwood Springs West / Colorado River KOA, Silt, Colorado

Date of Stay: May, 2019 - $36.00
Overall Rating:

We found this campground to be very nice. It is only 4 years old and looks it. Nice long, level sites with room around them for a table and patio. They have all levels of sites from tent sites to fancy sites with cement patios. The hook-ups are well placed and in good shape. The office has food, t-shirts and RV supplies to sell. They also have a book listing lots of places in the area to visit and lots of restaurants to eat at.Though it is right off the interstate and very convenient to get to, we heard no sounds that disturbed our sleep. You can walk into town - ask about the tunnel under the Interstate. We joined KOA and got a 10% discount on the rate. We camped at Glenwood Springs West / Colorado River KOA in a Motorhome.

Roadrunner RV Park, Oklahoma City, Oklahoma

Date of Stay: October, 2018 - $35.00
Overall Rating:

Very nice campground. We stayed in the newer section where most of the sites were pull-through with large grassy sections between them. The sites were concrete and very level, the hook-ups were easy and we had cable. There are3 tornado shelters and given the location, this is a good thing. However, they were quite small and pets were not allowed. Those with pets could stay in the nearby bath house. We would definitely stay again. We camped at Roadrunner RV Park in a Motorhome.

Fishing Bridge Campground (Concessionaire Operated), Yellowstone National Park, Wyoming

Date of Stay: October, 2018 - $50.00
Overall Rating:

Fishing Bridge campground always gets a bad rap: roads are rutted, sites are close, price is high are the major complaints. Come on, people, you're right in the middle of a national park. Location, location, location. You're 'close' to everything. (Well, 'close' is a relative term Yellowstone is so big that you'll spend time driving no matter where you go. But it's much closer than staying outside the park. Some friends of ours stayed outside the park and told us they got tired always driving into the park) We have been here before and will return because the location is so good. The people at the main desk were friendly, you are close to a small diner with ice cream, a small grocery in with a large gift store, a gas station and a Park Ranger area. There are some trails nearby. There is road construction this year and the campground will be closed next year for improvements. I'm looking forward to staying again. We camped at Fishing Bridge Campground (Concessionaire Operated) in a Motorhome.

Walnut RV Park, Vega, Texas

Date of Stay: October, 2018 - $28.00
Overall Rating:

This is a no-frills park with long dirt sites, long enough to keep our Jeep hooked up. Cash or checks are needed here. We used only the electric hook-up and it was 50A service. Would we stay here again? Sure. Easy on and off the Interstate, a good restaurant across the street, long hook-ups, 50A. Just what we were looking for. We camped at Walnut RV Park in a Motorhome.

Enchanted Trails RV Park & Trading Post, Albuquerque, New Mexico

Date of Stay: October, 2018 - $32.00
Overall Rating:

NIce campground out of the city. We stayed 2 nights so we could visit and hike in the Petroglyph National Monument. It was after the balloon festival but there were still lots of people there. Easy on and off from I40. Level sites but the sewer hook-up was a bit towards the rear of the site- especially for a motorhome. The hook-ups were alternating so we were very close to one RV but farther away from another. The showers were a bit dated but clean. We would definitely stay here again. We camped at Enchanted Trails RV Park & Trading Post in a Motorhome.

Overall Rating:

Very nice campground. Sites were stone and easy to level, the hook-ups were easy to use. We were told when we arrived that there was no TV. We used our Verizon to get online. We had a picnic table and a cement patio but no fire pit. Ou neighbors brought their own. There are noise limits for ATV's etc and that is nice. We would stay here again. Evergreen Coho SKP Park - Escapees Park (members only), Chimacum, Washington

Date of Stay: September, 2018 - $20.00
Overall Rating:

An Escapees campground and it shows. Most of the sites here are owned by individuals and they landscape them and decorate well. The 'transient' sites are tot the left of the office and along the eastern boundary. The sites are level, quite large, the hookups are easy to use and the sites are very clean. There are no picnic tables or fire pits at the sites. They are extremely easy to get into and hook-up but there is no shade. It is a short drive into Port Townsend or Port Hadlock. We have stayed here before and will stay again when in the area. We camped at Evergreen Coho SKP Park - Escapees Park (members only) in a Motorhome.

Rainbow Point Campground (USFS), West Yellowstone, Montana

Date of Stay: August, 2018 - $17.00
Overall Rating:

Wooded Forest Service about 10 miles north of West Yellowstone. We stayed here for 5 nights before we headed over to Fishing Bridge Campground in Yellowstone where we had a full-service campsite. The sites are dirt, we had 50A electric service, our site was a back-in large enough for our RV and Jeep. There is a 2-mile dirt road getting into the park so prepare for dirt. The toilets are pit toilets but the hosts keep them clean. Very quiet campground while we were there, though all sites were full. We used this campground to visit the western side of Yellowstone: Old Faithful, Mammoth Hot Springs and the geyser basins and the Hebgen Lake earthquake site - very interesting and well worth a visit. We camped at Rainbow Point Campground (USFS) in a Motorhome.

Tips for other Campers:

Make sure to fit in a visit to the Hebgen earthquake visitor center and then climb or drive to the top of the hill where the memorial is. The film in the VC is wonderful with people who were there relating their experiences. You can also see some of the cabins which were washed away and some of the cabins under water now. And, be glad you were not in the campground when it happened. The West Yellowstone Museum is also very good.

Tunnel Mountain Trailer Court Campground, Banff National Park, Alberta

Date of Stay: July, 2018 - $30.00
Overall Rating:

Excellent national park campground. We really liked it and would definitely go again. The sites are spacious semi-circles on either side of the road but they were staggered so you felt more secluded. They were level, contained a picnic table, the hook-ups were easy and they were surfaced with small stones. It was easy to maneuver through the campgound and there were trails around it. The bathrooms were plenty, clean and there were 4 stalls and one shower per bathroom. Reserve early if you want a space. We camped at Tunnel Mountain Trailer Court Campground in a Motorhome.

Sunshine Meadows is a marvelous gondola ride and wonderful hiking. We also hiked through the Lower and Upper falls of Johnston Cyn to the Ink Pots. All were marvelous. We also hiked to the top of Mt Sulphur but we call it Mt Suffer since it was steadily uphill. There is a gondola up to the top also. Wonderful boardwalk to the Observatory peak too. Cave and Basin Museum and the Banff Park Museum are both good. We like the Bow Falls.

Lake Louise Trailer Campground - Electric Hookups (Parks Canada), Banff National Park, Alberta

Date of Stay: July, 2018 - $30.00
Overall Rating:

Very nice campground. We had an electric campsite with 30A. Level, long enough for both our Jeep and RV, with a table and fire pit. We had a single RV site but had to reserve it on the day the reservations opened. We used the showers for 3 nights and our own shower for 4 nights so we wouldn't have to move in the middle to dump. There is only one shower house for the entire campground and only 5 male and 5 female showers. Whoo-eee, not nearly enough! We found that the lines were shorter after 7 pm while before we had to wait. We would definitely stay here again. We hiked the Lake Agnes trail and the Trail of the 6 Glaciers. Both were excellent and we'd hike them again. Get to Lake Louise early to get a reflection shot before they open the lake for canoes. We traveled the southern section of the Ice fields Parkway and saw Bow and Peyto Lake - both beautiful. Mistaya Cyn was closed for improvements unfortunately. It's an easy walk into the village from the campground.
