Apostle Islands Area Campground, Bayfield, Wisconsin

Date of Stay: August, 2011 - $32.00
Overall Rating:

We almost did not stay here based on previous reviews, but we are glad that we did. We thoroughly enjoyed the week we spent in site #41 on a hill under a large oak tree. The park is quiet and rustic as the roads are dirt and uneven. The showers are $1.50 for 5 min, kind of steep. No laundry but excellent cable and Wi-Fi. We loved Bayfield and exploring the area. We would definitely return. There are other campgrounds in the area with no amenities so this one isn't that bad. We camped at Apostle Islands Area Campground in a Motorhome.

Rivers Bend Campground, Iron Mountain, Michigan

Date of Stay: August, 2011 - $28.00
Overall Rating:

This is a pretty park located on a river and we thoroughly enjoyed our stay. The river sites are all permanent. Only a few of the transient sites have sewer hookups and the sites are close together. We had a nice spot under the trees with excellent cable and Wi-Fi. The bathrooms and laundry are older but clean. The owner has to be one of the nicest guys around. Unlike a previous post, we found that everyone at the park was friendly too. Most of the permanents have been coming to this park for generations. We would definitely return if in the area. We camped at Rivers Bend Campground in a Motorhome.

St. Ignace / Mackinac Island KOA, St Ignace, Michigan

Date of Stay: August, 2011 - $40.00
Overall Rating:

This park is ok and is nicer than some of the others in this city. The sites are on grass or dirt, with nice cable and WiFi. Bathrooms are ok. The pool seems to be the most popular amenity and there were lots of kids here in August. We were able to catch a free shuttle to the ferry boat to the Island. This is a typical KOA. We would stay here again. We camped at St. Ignace / Mackinac Island KOA in a Motorhome.

Traverse Bay RV Resort, Williamsburg, Michigan

Date of Stay: July, 2011 - $55.00
Overall Rating:

This is the epitome of a luxury RV resort. It is beautiful and immaculate. The amenities are plentiful and perfect. High end motor coaches are parked separately from fifth wheelers. It is pricey but you are paying for a resort area. There is lots to see and do in nearby communities as well as Traverse City. We stayed a month and enjoyed it very much. We have no complaints and would return. We camped at Traverse Bay RV Resort in a Motorhome.

Lake Leelanau RV Park, Lake Leelanau, Michigan

Date of Stay: June, 2011 - $45.00
Overall Rating:

We were pleasantly surprised by this pretty park right on beautiful Lake Leelanau. There are lots of activities involving water, but the park is quiet for those of us who just want to relax and read. Staff is excellent. The park is well maintained. It is a bit pricey, but it comes with the area. There aren't many bad spots in the park, and we had one of the best with a view of the lake. We would return again. We camped at Lake Leelanau RV Park in a Motorhome.

Little River Casino Resort, Manistee, Michigan

Date of Stay: June, 2011 - $19.00
Overall Rating:

We stayed here based solely on the perfect ratings but were very disappointed upon arrival. Yes, the roads and sites are paved and there is cable TV and Wi-Fi, and you do have access to a pool, spa, etc. at the nearby casino. But: it is just a big parking lot. There is nothing special about it. The landscaping was fair. Staff was ok. We had a good rate but there was no sewer hookup. Would have preferred staying elsewhere and will not return in the future. We camped at Little River Casino Resort in a Motorhome.

Silver Creek Luxury RV Resort, Mears, Michigan

Date of Stay: June, 2011 - $30.00
Overall Rating:

This is an excellent park that is nicely maintained with paved roads and large paved sites. The sites are angled so that they are not close together. The showers are some of the best we have found. There are other parks in the area with a similar name so be sure to pick this one, as it is the best. We have no complaints about it at all and would definitely stay here again. We camped at Silver Creek Luxury RV Resort in a Motorhome.

Oak Grove Campground / Resort, Holland, Michigan

Date of Stay: June, 2011 - $44.00
Overall Rating:

The best thing about this park are the beautiful, huge trees. We stayed in a premium site, but there are less expensive sites not under the trees. The showers, laundry, pool, cable and WiFi are all excellent. They have weird, short office hours but the staff are helpful and welcoming. The park is only about a mile from the beach and there is a wonderful bike path. The farmer's market downtown on Saturday is the best we have found. We enjoyed our stay here very much. We camped at Oak Grove Campground / Resort in a Motorhome.

River Ridge Resort, Stanwood, Michigan

Date of Stay: June, 2011 - $45.00
Overall Rating:

This is a gorgeous park and it is our favorite to date in the three years we have been traveling. It is immaculate and nicely landscaped. The showers, laundry, pool and other amenities are tops. The manager goes out of his way to make sure you have everything you want or need. We have no complaints about this park at all. It is a perfect vacation destination as they have everything close by including a marina. We would definitely return. We camped at River Ridge Resort in a Motorhome.

Lake Huron Campground, Carsonville, Michigan

Date of Stay: May, 2011 - $45.00
Overall Rating:

This is a huge, fairly new park with sites on grass. We were here over a holiday weekend and it filled up, but during the week, we were almost alone. We had a lot of rain so there was mud in the sites and some rigs got stuck. The showers are good, laundry adequate when not busy, pool very nice. There is no view of Lake Huron but there is a man made lake on the property. We did like the peace and quiet. There were lots of activities for the kids on the weekend. We camped at Lake Huron Campground in a Motorhome.

Campark Resorts, Niagara Falls, Ontario

Date of Stay: May, 2011 - $36.00
Overall Rating:

We were here before the busy season starts, but on a three-day Canadian holiday weekend. The park is pretty with lots of grass and trees. There seem to be lots of activities for kids and plenty of space for campers. There are lots of RV's left here permanently. Because of the excessive rain, there is some mud, but overall the sites are all nice and large. The office staff was terrific. We compared other parks in the area and this was the best price. We had excellent cable TV and good WiFi. We would recommend this park to anyone visiting Niagara Falls. We camped at Campark Resorts in a Motorhome.

Indian Creek RV & Camping Resort, Geneva, Ohio

Date of Stay: May, 2011 - $28.00
Overall Rating:

This is one of the few parks that offered cable and WiFi close enough for a trip into Cleveland. The park is huge and is mostly full of rigs left by their owners who show up in the summer or on weekends. When we arrived, there was no one there, but by Friday night, most of the weekenders arrived and the air was filled with campfire smoke. The cable was excellent. There is lots of grass and trees. The bathrooms were ok. WiFi was mostly not available unless you went down to the office. The little town has lots of things for kids and wineries for adults. We camped at Indian Creek RV & Camping Resort in a Motorhome.

Elkhorn Campground, Frankfort, Kentucky

Date of Stay: May, 2011 - $26.00
Overall Rating:

This pretty park is family owned and operated by some of the best people we have met. They went out of their way to make sure we were safe and secure during some severe storms. The park has lots of grass and trees and the Elkhorn Creek surrounds the perimeter of the park. The kids are running it now and are working hard to fix it up better. The bathrooms and laundry are older but nice and very clean. The roads and site driveways need work but the sites are plenty spacious. We love this park and will definitely return. We camped at Elkhorn Campground in a Motorhome.
