Leavenworth / Pine Village KOA, Leavenworth, Washington

Date of Stay: September, 2019 - $70.00
Overall Rating:

We stayed in a new section that was well designed for big rigs - a huge improvement over a stay here about 4 years ago, where we had to navigate some narrow twisted roads to shoehorn into a site that we barely fit in. So kudos to this KOA for the addition! Long, wide sites with gravel base and a big concrete patio. We were kind of forced into a premium site (furniture, grill) at a premium price because that is the only place we would fit. As usual, I find KOAs overpriced for the value received. Post-peak season, we were happy to learn that there was a hot tub here, and looked forward to using it. However, it turned out to be a residential above ground-type tub, and it was not clean, nor warm. Scratch that plan! The only downside to the new section is that we still had to navigate through the old park on those narrow twisted roads to get to the office for check-in. The signage was decent though. I hope that they come up with a plan to allow big rigs to check in remotely from the new section. We camped at Leavenworth / Pine Village KOA in a Motorhome.

Fidalgo Bay Resort, Anacortes, Washington

Date of Stay: July, 2019 - $52.00
Overall Rating:

This is a fairly rustic park with no special amenities. There is no landscaping, and the sites are gravel with sparse grass in between. The sites are really unacceptably close together. The power and water are ok, but the sewer connections are poorly constructed and require some extra effort to manage. The staff are very friendly and helpful. The sites are large enough (just) for a 45' bus and car in tow, but there is no extra room. So why do I go there? Why do I stay there? Location, location, location. The park is situated right on Fidalgo Bay, in full view of snow-capped mountains, marinas, and huge tanker ships. Seals and otters and bald eagles can be seen daily. The bike trail runs through the park and there are several miles of a paved multi-use trail at your doorstep. The lovely town of Anacortes is only a short bike ride away. Waterfront sites are the ONLY good sites here - and the views make the lack of amenities worthwhile, in my opinion. We camped at Fidalgo Bay Resort in a Motorhome.

Columbia Sun RV Resort, Kennewick, Washington

Date of Stay: June, 2019 - $49.00
Overall Rating:

this was a beautiful newer park with generous spacing between sites, long level concrete pads, lush grass and landscaping. A big rig's dream park, with wide roads, no obstacles, excellent signage. The common areas, pool, etc were all excellent! We camped at Columbia Sun RV Resort in a Motorhome.

Agate Acres RV Park, Plymouth, Washington

Date of Stay: June, 2019 - $25.00
Overall Rating:

This was a decent place to stay for a couple of nights while traveling through. It is mostly long-term residents, but they keep a few pull-though sites near the front for transients. No frills, but large enough, and the folks were very helpful. The site I was in was wide and long, with a fence between me and the next site. I paid in cash. We camped at Agate Acres RV Park in a Motorhome.

LePage Park COE, Rufus, Oregon

Date of Stay: June, 2019 - $12.00
Overall Rating:

The pull through sites were perfect for a big rig! Roads were wide enough and well marked. Water and electric service at each site. Very high water pressure- use a reducer. Pretty isolated, but a lovely setting along the river, somewhat protected from the west winds along the Columbia River valley. We camped at LePage Park COE in a Motorhome.

Driftwood RV Park, Brookings, Oregon

Date of Stay: June, 2019 - $49.00
Overall Rating:

This was rally a fine choice for a big rig. Although on a hillside, the sites were terraced, and we had a long, wide, level pull through that was perfect! The utilities all were well placed and in working order. The staff were very nice and had experience in managing big rigs. A couple of turns were a little tight, but totally manageable. We camped at Driftwood RV Park in a Motorhome.

A great spot right at the Elks Lodge in the parking lot. There are 3 pull through sites and the rest are back in. Lot is paved and reasonably level.

Mercer Lake Campground, Florence, Oregon

Date of Stay: June, 2019 - $25.00
Overall Rating:

This is a private campground open only to BPOE lodge members. Great facility! Not all sites are suitable for a big rig, but the Camp Hosts are super- knowledgeable, and make good recommendations about where to park.
A very nice place to stay! We camped at Mercer Lake Campground in a Motorhome.

Port of Newport RV Park, Newport, Oregon

Date of Stay: June, 2019 - $45.00
Overall Rating:

This is a big park, with plenty of room for a big rig. All asphalt, flat and level. Utilities are conveniently placed and all work.
The folks in the office are very nice and helpful, and the resident Camp Host is truly a superb ambassador for the park and the region. Lots to do in the area, and great walking/biking trails.
The roads and turns are plenty wide, but when the campground is full, there may be vehicles parked on or very close to the roadway, and it could get a little tight. We camped at Port of Newport RV Park in a Motorhome.

Big Pines RV Park, Crescent, Oregon

Date of Stay: June, 2019 - $36.00
Overall Rating:

This was easy to access from the highway, and well marked. Although there were plenty of trees, they were trimmed back nicely and did not scratch the coach. A good spot for a big rig. We would stay here again. We camped at Big Pines RV Park in a Motorhome.

Colorado Springs Elks Lodge #309 (Members Only), Colorado Springs, Colorado

Overall Rating:

We dry camped for several days in the back parking lot. The folks at the lodge were super friendly. This is in kind of an industrial area, so navigating to it was easy, as all the roads are truck routes. A great place to base from for sightseeing. Will definitely stay here again. Rawlins KOA, Rawlins, Wyoming

Overall Rating:

This is an OK spot for an overnight. Easy access off the highway, very well marked with signage. The whole campground is on a slope, but the sites are terraced and are reasonably level. Our 45 ft coach and tow just fit in our assigned pull through. The folks were very friendly. Pretty rustic, but ok for an overnight. We camped at Rawlins KOA in a Motorhome.

Overall Rating:

This was a great overnight, easy on and off I 84, but far enough away that there was no road noise. Long, level pull through with plenty of room for this big rig. Utilities all worked fine. Lovely view of valley and mountains and a spectacular night sky!

Whistle Stop RV Resort, Abilene, Texas

Date of Stay: May, 2019 - $45.00
Overall Rating:

This was an ideal stop for a big rig. The pull throughs are huge, both long and wide, with a surface of packed gravel. The utilities are ideally situated for a motorhome. The roads are wide, well marked, with generous space for turns. It was easy on and off the interstate and was not overly noisy. The staff in the office were super accomodating. We would definitely stay here again! We camped at Whistle Stop RV Resort in a Motorhome.
