Rancho Jurupa Park, Riverside, California

Date of Stay: April, 2010 - $20.00
Overall Rating:

This is a wonderful park - one of my favorites. I stayed in the new Cottonwood Section. The grounds are immaculate, paved spaces level, bathrooms, showers and laundry room spotless. It's $1 each for the washer and dryer. You have to get tokens from the office. Park rangers were always helpful and cheerful. There's a water slide area for young children which was not yet open. There is a playground and a nice miniature golf course for $5 per person. I read some of the reviews for the Lakeside area and I cannot speak to the problems mentioned. The lake is very pretty. There is no cable or Wi-Fi there. Those roads and lots are gravel. In Cottonwood, the roads are all paved. Some of Cottonwood has grass between the sites, others have gravel between. The ones with grass are more expensive. My rate is based on the weekly rate in the gravel between sites section. I look forward to staying here again. We camped at Rancho Jurupa Park in a Motorhome.

Destiny RV Resort / Phoenix West, Goodyear, Arizona

Date of Stay: April, 2010 - $34.00
Overall Rating:

Very nice, large park. I was looking for a place to possibly stay 2 or 3 months next winter. The pool area was very pretty. The spaces are fairly level with a concrete pad and picnic table at each site and lots of citrus trees. I was at a spot in the back (least expensive area). It was quiet except for occasional planes from Luke AFB. The restroom/shower was clean. My two complaints are that internet is Tengo which was pretty slow plus the cost. And, there's no cable, and some of the stations came in and out periodically. Still not the winter spot I'm looking for, but a very nice place. We camped at Destiny RV Resort / Phoenix West in a Motorhome.

Happy Days RV Park (Active Adult Park), Apache Junction, Arizona

Date of Stay: April, 2010 - $27.00
Overall Rating:

I stayed here for a week looking for someplace to possibly spend the winter. It was a nice enough park and I liked the town of Apache Junction. But, I didn't like Happy Days enough to stay long-term. Lots were level and gravel. Pool and hot tub were nice. There were no activities since a lot of the snowbirds had already left. Only one shower, but I never had a problem with it being busy. Shower/bathroom was clean. Office staff was nice. It is an all 50 amp campground, but they gave me an adapter to use. WiFi worked fairly well. My biggest complaint was that I could only get 5 or 6 TV stations using the converter box, and they would fade in and out. We camped at Happy Days RV Park (Active Adult Park) in a Motorhome.

Tra-Park RV Park - Escapees Rainbow Park, Pecos, Texas

Date of Stay: April, 2010 - $13.00
Overall Rating:

I am an Escapee, but I was disappointed in this park. It is very convenient to I-20. The lady in the office was very nice. I knew WiFi was Tengo, but the lady said it had been down quite a bit lately so I didn't even try it. I couldn't get even one TV station with either antenna or converter box. There are no other RV parks nearby, and I would stay again if I was in the area, but I would rather not. The lots are level. But, the price is right! We camped at Tra-Park RV Park - Escapees Rainbow Park in a Motorhome.

Abilene RV Park, Abilene, Texas

Date of Stay: April, 2010 - $27.00
Overall Rating:

Nice no-frills park. It's not much to look at, but the managers in the office were very nice. Dirt/gravel site was level. WiFi worked well. No cable and only 5 TV stations. Pool looked nice, but I didn't use it. Laundry room had 2 washers and dryers at $1.00 each. Office, club room appeared fairly new. Bath/shower had 3 toilets and 4 showers. It was clean. Shower area wasn't too roomy for dressing. Not a destination park, but I would stay here overnight again. Convenient to I-20 and easy to find. We camped at Abilene RV Park in a Motorhome.

Bluebonnet Ridge RV Park, Terrell, Texas

Date of Stay: March, 2010 - $13.00
Overall Rating:

Very nice park. I stayed for a month (rate is for monthly breakdown. People in office are extremely nice and helpful. Park is kept very clean. Catch and release lake was used a lot. My space was mostly level with small rocks, bigger than gravel. Private bathroom/showers were clean and large. There is a weight room with nice equipment and a TV so exercising isn't QUITE so awful. Laundry room had 4 washers and dryers ($1.25 each) with a TV in the room. On the porch were nice rocking chairs and swings. Has a tennis/basketball court. WiFi was very fast, although the server did go down a few times. Cable TV had 23 stations. Has a pool, hot tub and store. My only complaints were some noise from I-20, although it wasn't bad at my site and lack of activities. Owner said they've tried to schedule activities, but not many show up. They did have a dinner and bingo one night that I was there. I would definitely stay here again. We camped at Bluebonnet Ridge RV Park in a Motorhome.

Rainbow's End - Escapees Rainbow Park, Livingston, Texas

Date of Stay: March, 2010 - $14.00
Overall Rating:

This was my second time here. I came a year ago and stayed a month to establish residency and become an Escapee. I was new to full time RV'ing at that time. I have rated Rainbow's End lower this time after seeing more parks around the country. The people are very friendly. There are a lot of activities. The Tengo Wi-Fi worked fairly well. The biggest disappointment is that I couldn't get any TV stations. Last year when it was analog, I could get a couple of stations hit or miss. Now with the converter box, it's out of range - not even one station. Last year my Sprint phone didn't have any bars. This year with AT&T, it's fine. Bathrooms/showers are large and clean. There are always workampers keeping the area tidy. I'm only staying a couple of days this year and am disappointed that with the problems, I don't want to stay longer. Also have to pay for electricity even for one night. It's very quiet. We camped at Rainbow's End - Escapees Rainbow Park in a Motorhome.

Rainbow Plantation - Escapees Rainbow Park , Summerdale, Alabama

Date of Stay: March, 2010 - $14.00
Overall Rating:

Nice campground. Quiet, gravel/grass sites. Friendly people in the office. Quite of few activities going on during the week. No cable, but my converter box got the major stations. Tengo Wi-Fi. I had a couple of problems with it, but they were worked out after talking with tech support. I would have rated it higher, but there were only 2 bathroom/shower combination's for the whole park, and only one trash container on the far end - not at all convenient for my end of the park. Had to pay for electricity even for one night. So although the rate I stated is the Escapee rate, I had to add electricity & WiFi. I was looking to see if it would be a good place to spend a month or more but decided with those negatives and the nearest store being so far, I probably won't do that. The bathrooms were very clean. We camped at Rainbow Plantation - Escapees Rainbow Park in a Motorhome.

Casey Jones RV Park, Lake City, Florida

Date of Stay: March, 2010 - $37.00
Overall Rating:

This is a really nice place. They drove me to my site. It has grass and is level. The people checking me in were really nice. I was going to stay here one night but extended it to two. The bathrooms and showers were really clean. My rate was with Good Sam. It was easy to find and quite close to the interstate, but it was very quiet. I would stay here again. We camped at Casey Jones RV Park in a Motorhome.

Savannah Oaks RV Resort, Savannah, Georgia

Date of Stay: February, 2010 - $32.00
Overall Rating:

Nice, no frills park. Dirt/sand roads. My spot 61 was somewhat level but slanted just a little. I took a tour of Savannah with Old Town Trolley Tours. The friendly office staff called and reserved the tour for me. I was picked up at the campground office. It was $25 and very much worth it. I needed some minor RV repairs, and the office gave me the number of a very capable man who came to fix the problem. Wi-Fi and cable TV worked very well, but my phone didn't work at my spot. I had to walk a short ways to get cell service. I would have rated this higher except for the showers. They were clean, but it was one that you push a knob, and the water stays on for about 10 seconds. No matter how many times I pushed it, the water never got warm. Also, in the bathrooms, which are unisex, there are no paper towels or blow dryers or soap dispensers. We camped at Savannah Oaks RV Resort in a Motorhome.

Nice basic campground. Office people were very nice and helpful. No amenities, but close to the sights. Dirt/sand sites were fairly level. Cable TV, Wi-Fi and phone worked well. Trees. A little road noise but not bad at all. I stayed two nights and would come back. Price is good for the area. Rate is for Good Sam, Military or AAA. Nashville North KOA, Goodlettsville, Tennessee

Date of Stay: November, 2009 - $31.00
Overall Rating:

This is basically a good campground. Spot #90 was level. Wi-Fi and cable worked very well. Spots are way too close together. Bathroom/shower was clean and adequate. It took a long time for water to get warm so be persistent! There are tours to Grand Ol' Opry and other tours around the Nashville area. I took one of them. Greyline picked me up at the campground office. It was a very well done tour. I would stay here again. We camped at Nashville North KOA in a Motorhome.

Ivy's Cove RV Retreat, Russellville, Arkansas

Date of Stay: November, 2009 - $25.00
Overall Rating:

Very nice, small park. Friendly check-in. Large bathroom/showers were very clean. I asked where I could go to buy a bottle of wine to find out it is a dry county. Cable has about 20 stations. WiFi worked very well. I would definitely stay here again. We camped at Ivy's Cove RV Retreat in a Motorhome.

Calizona RV Park (55+ park), Needles, California

Date of Stay: October, 2009 - $25.00
Overall Rating:

Nice park. Five miles off I-40. Quiet. Bathrooms/showers roomy and clean. Nice clubhouse. There was a potluck the night I was here and I was invited. Nice staff. Cable didn't have many stations but both that and the Wi-Fi worked well. When I was checked in, I was given a card with the user name and password. I was told to be sure to capitalize as shown. I kept getting an error message. I called the 800 number and was told that the capitalization was incorrect. Other than that, everything else was okay. I was shown to my site. Plenty of space, fairly level. I would stay here again when passing through. We camped at Calizona RV Park (55+ park) in a Motorhome.

New Horizons Mobile/RV Park, Fresno, California

Date of Stay: October, 2009 - $35.00
Overall Rating:

The positive - the lady in the office was nice. She told me to choose a site, get set up then come to the office. She gave me a registration form to complete. Wi-Fi worked very well from my site - #10.The not so positive - there were very few overnight spots. It was mostly long-term and very dated. There was a laundry room but no showers or bathroom unless you count the port-a-potty. I got a few TV stations with my converter box. There was a lot of highway noise. The cost of $35 is for cash or check. It's $5 more for a credit card. There are no discounts. I probably would not stay here again. We camped at New Horizons Mobile/RV Park in a Motorhome.
