Pink House Recreation Site (BLM), Orofino, Idaho

Date of Stay: May, 2017 - $9.00
Overall Rating:

This BLM run campground has 14 sites of which three are elevated tent sites. Only two pull thrus are available near the river side of the park. However, the back-in sites would easily accomodate our 28 ft fifth wheel trailer and pickup. The site hosts deserve a ten star for the park appearance and their welcoming and helpful manner. The full service facilities (sewer, water, and 30 AMP0 worked well and were well placed. If I placed my verizon mifi puck outside the trailer, verizon internet service was mostly satisfactory except during busy periods in the evening. My 3g Verizon based Tracfone showed no service. One boundary of the park is the Clearwater river which you can access via several foot paths. During our three night stay here, the park was never full. Even one of the pull thrus was available. The park is first come, first served so I would guess it is full to over flowing later in the summer. We will definitely return again. We camped at Pink House Recreation Site (BLM) in a Fifth Wheel.

Hells Canyon Resort, Clarkston, Washington

Date of Stay: May, 2017 - $45.00
Overall Rating:

Trees and Bushes had grown considerably since our last visit to this park. Sites close to the water (for example 32 -30 are considered "Zone 1 Water View" and the cost per night is more. However, if you are not in the very end (western most sites: 1, 20, 30 or 40) your water view will be likely be mired by your neighbors rig. The park has a very nice indoor hot tub and pool with water depths from 3 to 5 feet. Pool temp could be slightly warmer but the hot tub was perfect. If you follow the road leading under the big Red Wolf bridge, you'll find a road that leads down to WalMart. Costco is near there and the paddle boat American Empress docks in that area. When exiting the park, there is a sharp hump which your fifth wheel hitch may not like. We sneak out the emergency exit. Also take the Red Wolf bridge if you want to avoid down town which has narrow streets and dangerously low tree branches. Lots of them. In the past we have stayed at the other park but they were full. During the height of the RV season, I'm sure this park will be full also. The Hells Canyon park is located at the junction of two very busy roads. During the day, it's quit noisy. The "Dog Run" has a huge sign pointing to its location. It's there fenced but tiny. Your dog won't get much exercise in that tiny pen. Finally, the wifi is barely adequate. 0.27 MB down and 1.15 MB up checked with speedof.me on a sunny warm Sunday afternoon. But all considered, I'd return again if in the area. The area has few choices. We camped at Hells Canyon Resort in a Fifth Wheel.

Snake River RV Resort, Homedale, Idaho

Date of Stay: May, 2017 - $30.00
Overall Rating:

The access road going into the park was full of potholes when we arrived. The manager has since graded the road. When you arrive at the "Office", you may be tempted to turn tail and leave because the the appearance is of a mobile home park with lots of full time RV trailers. Once you wind your way through the rather narrow (and potted) interior roads, the river front sites deserve a 10 star. Huge areas of beautiful green grass for walking your pooches. We were in site 41 which is a long way from the single WiFi access point located in the laundry room. On Saturday and Sunday when the park was full to over flowing, the wifi was slow to useless. Better on Monday but you'll still need an amplifier/bridge to reach the AP. I peeked in the laundry room and found two washers and dryers of the standard coin op type. Didn't use the showers. Utilities worked well and there was more than adequate space between you and your neighbor. I carry boards to place under my jacks so parking on grass wasn't an issue for me. Other times we've stayed at an RV park in Caldwell but I'll stay here if in the area and if they have a space. I'd guess spaces are at a premium during the RV season. We camped at Snake River RV Resort in a Fifth Wheel.

Fish House Inn and RV Park, Dayville, Oregon

Date of Stay: April, 2017 - $32.00
Overall Rating:

Carefully manicured park like setting with fruit trees, gardens, and putting green like lawns, helpful on site owners who do their own maintenance, wpa secured wifi with adequate speeds for internet browsing, large back in sites with grass strips separating sites. I only wish they had more sites. We had reservations for two nights and stayed for four. I absolutely would return here again. We camped at Fish House Inn and RV Park in a Fifth Wheel.

Tips for other Campers:

A few miles away is the John Day Fossil Bed National Monument. No charge to drive in. Cant Ranch has sheep shearing pens preserved from prior to WWII and an excellent visitor center/museum is located nearby. Dayville Cafe has excellent plentiful food at reasonable prices.

City of Bridgeport - Marina Park, Bridgeport, Washington

Date of Stay: April, 2016 - $30.00
Overall Rating:

Campground is operated by the small city of Bridgeport, WA. We reserved site F for four nights and added on two more after our arrival. Site F has an unobstructed view of the Columbia River. Sites are paved and located on two levels. Each site has a green grass lawn next to the asphalt pad. WiFi was available but weak at our site. All utilities worked and were well located. In early April, the park was not crowded but our helpful, on site Host, said the park gets busy in May. Seven digital channels were available off air. No CATV. Our Verizon Data MiFi worked 4G. Over all this is a gem. I would chose this park over WA State's Bridgeport State Park up river. We will definitely return again. We camped at Bridgeport Marina RV Park in a fifth wheel. Tips for other Campers:

Los Companios Restaurant in nearby Brewster, WA (located near the VFW building which has the jet fuselage displayed outside) has excellent Mexican food. There is a Mexican bakery across the street from Los Companios (sp?) in Brewster. Tours of the Chief Joseph Dam located up river from Bridgeport start in May.

Blackwell Island RV Park, Coeur d'Alene, Idaho

Date of Stay: July, 2014 - $61.00
Overall Rating:

For $61, I expect a functioning Wi-Fi, cable TV with lots of crystal clear channels, and a level site. On my recent one night stay in Blackwell Island, I had neither. I was never able to connect to the Wi-Fi, even at 2 AM. All the cable channels were fuzzy/snowy. My so called River Site was in a swamp. Furthermore the place was packed with pre-teen kids who would dart across the road in front of you and the interior roads were torture, for me and my RV. I was not happy and won't return. We camped at Blackwell Island RV Park in a Fifth Wheel.

BJ's Campground, Lusk, Wyoming

Date of Stay: June, 2014 - $35.00
Overall Rating:

This park is located near a quiet residential neighborhood across the street from a public park with a playground and lots of green grass. It's appearance is neat and tidy. I've never felt more welcomed to an RV park. Cable TV and wifi service worked very well. All other utilities were well placed and provided by the city of Lusk. We used the laundry while camped there two nights. The laundry consisted of two washers and dryers which were clean and well maintained. We'll definitely return again if in the area. This is a small park without many reservable overnight spaces so I'd definitely recommend reservations during the tourist season. We camped at BJ's Campground in a Motorhome.

Robidoux RV Park, Gering, Nebraska

Date of Stay: June, 2014 - $27.00
Overall Rating:

I agree this park is generally excellent. WiFi slows with load but is adequate late in evening and early morning. CATV provided by Charter provides plenty of clear non-premium/local channels. Sites are nicely spaced with cement pads. Interior roads are paved. Beautiful grass between sites with some blooming iris flowers when we were there. Scottsbluff Monument is majestically visible to the west of the park. A tiny few negatives: Interior roads are narrow. I was just able to negotiate the corners with my 31' Class C. When you check in, you go to a "bank teller" window rather than to the usual "walk into a room with a clerk behind a desk" but it works and the staff was friendly. In the laundry, you'll find only two washers and two dryers. But the four worked fine and were economical. I'd definitely stay here again if in the general area. We camped at Robidoux RV Park in a Motorhome.

Adrian Municipal Park, Adrian, Minnesota

Date of Stay: May, 2014 - $26.00
Overall Rating:

CATV ($2 included in the $26) had more than 50 channels. We were situated at site 41, a good distance from the office Wi-Fi access point, but it worked well. As mentioned, you are within sight of I-90 but the freeway noise wasn't really noticeable. After exiting I-90 at the Adrian exit, continue past the Kum & Go Gas/C Store, look to your right for Franklin. Turn right, follow the signs. I've paid twice as much for less. Adrian, MN should be proud of their campground. We enjoyed our brief stay and would definitely return if in the area. We camped at Adrian Municipal Park in a Motorhome.

Peter D's RV Park, Sheridan, Wyoming

Date of Stay: May, 2014 - $32.00
Overall Rating:

Very nice park. Level gravel sites interspersed with neatly trimmed grass dividers. Wi-Fi from Charter Cable tested at a respectable 2.8 Mb/sec down. I counted 41 clear channels on the CATV hookup. Other utilities worked as expected. I-90 is visible nearby but road noise is barely audible. Peter D does greet you with enthusiasm as stated previously. His hard work keeping the place neat and trim was apparent. I'll definitely stay here again if in the Sheridan WY area. $32 represents the cash rate. We camped at Peter D's RV Park in a Motorhome.

Columbia Sun RV Resort, Kennewick, Washington

Date of Stay: March, 2014 - $49.00
Overall Rating:

Unfortunately, this new park missed inclusion in the Good Sam's "Consumer Reports of RV Parks" for 2014. Too bad because I've stayed at many 10 10 10 parks before and this one qualifies. Glorious fitness room with excellent workout equipment in excellent condition. Excellent spacing between sites. Upon check in I noticed that the park brochure said "family owned". So I asked, the affable gentleman taking my CC was one of the owners. This bodes well for the park. Absentee owners lead to park neglect. When I need an RV space in the Tri-Cities area of Washington, I'll definitely stay here again. We camped at Columbia Sun RV Resort in a Motorhome.

Ambassador RV Resort, Caldwell, Idaho

Date of Stay: March, 2014 - $30.00
Overall Rating:

Very nice park. Our second visit. My only quibble is that they use TengoInternet which is a hassle to sign up for. You are only allowed two hours of time per 10 hour period and you are throttled after 5 GB. However, if you set up in the Rec Room (very comfortable place) you'll find Century Link access at 13 Mbps down. I'll stay here again. We camped at Ambassador RV Resort in a Motorhome.

Silver State RV Park (formerly Winnemucca / I-80 KOA), Winnemucca, Nevada

Date of Stay: March, 2014 - $30.00
Overall Rating:

Park is showing it's age. At the Hi-Deserts exit of I-80 a new RV/Motel park was under construction. Park brochure shows 73 TV channels but most were grainy and a few unwatchable. I'll never understand why RV parks refuse to accept AMEX like Hi-Desert does. WiFi was strong but modest. I measured 3.4 Mbps down with a ping of 80 at about 3 PM in the afternoon when you would think the traffic would be fairly low. I think I'll try out the new park when I come back to Winnemucca. We camped at Silver State RV Park (formerly Winnemucca / I-80 KOA) in a Motorhome.

Friendly RV Park, Weed, California

Date of Stay: March, 2014 - $33.00
Overall Rating:

Sign at entrance said RV Park For Sale but that hasn't affected the park operation. Cash only at check-in, Wi-Fi was speedy (5.7 Mbps down) as provided by Northland Cable TV. They also supply 50+ channels of cable to the park. The entrance road is rutted and the asphalt in the pull-throughs cracked. Good for an overnight or two. Rather basic in appearance but I'd stay here again. We camped at Friendly RV Park in a Motorhome.
