Downtown RV Park, Watson Lake, Yukon

Date of Stay: May, 2019 - $69.00
Overall Rating:

This is a decent park, but at $69CA per night for a 50A site it was ridiculously expensive - especially for such a basic campground. Open gravel lot, level sites, good hookups, not spacious but not too tight either. It's right off the AlCan and easy to access. Surprisingly little road noise. We camped at Downtown RV Park in a Fifth Wheel.

Nice, clean, level, quiet park. A bit pricey, but that's California. Mostly I'm writing a review to mention a great repair shop nearby (see below). We camped at Vineyard RV Park in a Fifth Wheel.

Tips for other Campers:

If you need any service, Midway Truck Repair is close by and extremely helpful. They are knowledgeable, honest and work on lots of RVs. Our brakes started failing and we were only staying one night. They squeezed us in that morning and tried replacing an inexpensive part to see if that would fix the problem, then sent someone to Sacramento for the part we needed.

Lake Pleasant RV Park, Bothell, Washington

Date of Stay: May, 2019 - $49.00
Overall Rating:

I would have given this park a higher rating because it's quite lovely. But when I made reservations I asked for a quiet location because we like to sleep in on vacation. The first day we awoke to sounds of heavy equipment, backup beepers and yelling contractors who were grating, repaving, and cutting trees just feet from our RV. When it happened again the next day, we went to the office to complain and were told they would "just" be working near our site for half our 9-day stay. But we leave tomorrow and they are still waking us up - sometimes before 7 a.m. Would never have stayed had they been honest us - especially at these prices. So heads up...they say the work will continue for months. We camped at Lake Pleasant RV Park in a Fifth Wheel.

Pleasant park with friendly, helpful hosts. They are in the process of lengthening and upgrading several sites. Mostly quiet, although outside you can hear a little road noise. One train. A round of golf included in your fee. We camped at On the River Golf & RV Park in a Fifth Wheel.

Beautiful location, quiet, roomy sites that are tiered so most of them have a gorgeous view of the lake. A little tricky to find...GPS just got us in the general vicinity. We camped at Emigrant Lake - The Point RV Park in a Fifth Wheel.

Lake Shelby Campground, Shelbyville, Kentucky

Date of Stay: September, 2018 - $22.00
Overall Rating:

Hard to rate. Great if you like rustic. It's affordable and peaceful, but there are lots of bugs, restrooms are dated, it's 30 amp only, there's no sewer (except site 1), and the "dump station" is a challenge to use. Trails were so overgrown as to be unusable. Pads are extensions off the edge of the parking lot/boat ramp. The online registration will allow you to park a 45' rig on a 15' pad, so use your best judgement. I think sites 2-5 are 15' long and the rest are 20', but you can hang off both ends a few feet. On the other hand there is usually availability, AT&T and Verizon worked well, and despite all the trees I could get satellite. Staff stop by often and everyone was super nice. We camped at Lake Shelby Campground in a Fifth Wheel.

Overall Rating:

Great campground. Everything new, works well and laid out like it should be. Super-long and level space. No trees yet. AT&T, Verizon & satellite all strong. Food & service at the restaurant were excellent. Shocked we were the only RV there. We camped at Rest Up Camping & RV Corral in a Fifth Wheel.

Riffle Run COE, Burnsville, West Virginia

Date of Stay: August, 2018 - $15.00
Overall Rating:

The COE really knows how to build a campground! Peaceful park in a canyon next to a creek and beautiful lake. Wish they took reservations. No AT&T signal. If you want satellite, try one of the first sites on the left as you arrive. Spacious lot size, some with shade.

And for the love of snickerdoodles, take Main St through town and don't let your GPS take you down Oil Creek/McCauley Run. We camped at Riffle Run COE in a Fifth Wheel.

Hidden Springs Campground, Clearville, Pennsylvania

Date of Stay: August, 2018 - $48.00
Overall Rating:

This would be an ideal campground EXCEPT for the risk posed by an avoidable hazard. They know bears (plural) get into their dumpsters, but make no effort to enclose or lock them, and don't warn campers to avoid those areas at night. In fact, she chuckled and responded nonchalantly when told about our encounter. Other than that, it's a lovely, quiet campground with clean facilities, nice gravel roads and pads, and spacious sites. Just keep your kids and pets inside after dusk. And feel sorry for the bears, which will probably have to be destroyed after they become too habituated or, heaven forbid, hurt someone.

Follow directions on website, because GPS may lead you to Rice Rd. which is completely inappropriate for RVs. We camped at Hidden Springs Campground in a Fifth Wheel.

Mahlon Dickerson Reservation, Jefferson Township, New Jersey

Date of Stay: August, 2018 - $25.00
Overall Rating:

This is a great little stopover or getaway. Quiet (except the cicadas), shady, peaceful. No sewer but bathrooms were awesome. Some of the sites are short, but there were also plenty of big rigs. No satellite or OTA signals except one Spanish channel. AT&T and Verizon work well. Bring bug spray! We camped at Mahlon Dickerson Reservation in a Fifth Wheel.

Lums Pond State Park, Bear, Delaware

I wish all state parks were like this. Wide paved roads and asphault pads, spacious & level sites, very clean, lots to do, very quiet. It can be muddy after a heavy rain. No satellite, but 50 OTA channels. Good AT&T and Verizon signals. Nice bathrooms. We camped at Lums Pond State Park in a Fifth Wheel.

Five Islands Ocean Resort, Lower Five Islands, Nova Scotia

Date of Stay: June, 2018 - $37.00
Overall Rating:

Nice owner making lots of improvements. He was adding more 50 amp sites when we visited. Nice campground, views, clamming. Warning: the 30 amp sites in section X are on grass and the ground gets very soft with some standing puddles when it rains. We're pretty heavy and worried about getting stuck in the mud. We parked on boards and laid down boards and stall mats to make it out. We camped at Five Islands Ocean Resort in a Fifth Wheel.

Buckeye Lake / Columbus East KOA, Buckeye Lake, Ohio

Date of Stay: May, 2018 - $69.00
Overall Rating:

As a retired couple, we usually avoid KOAs. We find them to be cramped, noisy, and pricey due to family-oriented amenities and activities that we don't use. But we didn't have much choice and ended up at Buckeye Lake. What a lovely surprise! Large, shaded sites in a peaceful, wooded campground. Wonderful staff. Still pricey, but would stay again. Sayre City Park Campground, Sayre, Oklahoma

Date of Stay: October, 2017 - $12.00
Overall Rating:

I wish every place I camped was like this place! Please, please show the City of Sayre your appreciation for providing this awesome park by patronizing it. It's easy to access, big rig friendly, level, quiet and offers several amenities including 50 amp service for only $12 a night. Wide long sites, lots of pull-throughs, not at all crowded. OTA and cell signals were all strong. Wish I could have stayed longer. We camped at Sayre City Park Campground in a Fifth Wheel.

Woodland Village RV and Mobile Home Park, Portage, Indiana

Date of Stay: October, 2017 - $30.00
Overall Rating:

This is the first time in 9 years using RV Park Reviews that I have felt misled by a campground rating. This place deserves a Below Average rating. I don't care that it's mostly mobile homes. But it's noisy, run-down, and poorly laid out (we couldn't even use the first site they sent us to because with our tires on the two narrow strips of broken concrete that serve as a pad we couldn't put our slide out without hitting the electric pedestal). Roads are torn up and so crowded and narrow it was challenging to get in and out. Tracks run right next to the park and trains blare their horns all night. I should have given up after being unable to reach the office, leaving multiple messages to make a reservation, and not having them returned. I wouldn't stay here again unless I had no other options. We camped at Woodland Village RV and Mobile Home Park in a Fifth Wheel.
