Mesa Spirit RV Resort (55+ park), Mesa, Arizona

Date of Stay: March, 2011 - $57.00
Overall Rating:

As an overnight facility, that's all it was. We were in a hurry to get away. Roadway construction made entrance to the facility very difficult. Entering at dusk I was told I would have a level site. Site 157 was anything but level. The facility is geared for 55+ RVer's that are here long term. I'm a 55+ RVer that won't be looking to return to this facility any time soon: certainly not for the rate charged and services rendered. We camped at Mesa Spirit RV Resort (55+ park) in a Fifth Wheel.

Dream Catcher RV Park - Escapees Rainbow Park, Deming, New Mexico

Date of Stay: March, 2011 - $21.00
Overall Rating:

As an overnight, it was sufficient. It's an "Escapees" facility, with corresponding reduction in price. I believe my rate of $21 was $6 higher than the members rate. Again, as an overnight it was OK. The sites are spacious, level, and when its windy - dusty. When passing through again, I may look at other sites in the area. We camped at Dream Catcher RV Park - Escapees Rainbow Park in a Fifth Wheel.

Van Horn RV Park (formerly Van Horn KOA), Van Horn, Texas

Date of Stay: March, 2011 - $32.00
Overall Rating:

A very nice facility with pleasant staff. We've stayed here numerous times in passing East & West. We've always been pleased with our site (level) and the affordability of an evening meal or breakfast prepared at the on site restaurant- there was no need to unhook and travel elsewhere. The restrooms/showers were always clean and well kept. Surrounding grounds were nicely maintained. We camped at Van Horn RV Park (formerly Van Horn KOA) in a Fifth Wheel.

Pioneer RV Park, Big Spring, Texas

Date of Stay: March, 2011 - $24.00
Overall Rating:

Our objective in a passing through/overnight facility, is for a clean, quiet, and equipped services as advertised. This facility does that and gives me a level site as well. As an overnight, it is sufficient. We camped at Pioneer RV Park in a Fifth Wheel.

Ameristar Vicksburg RV Park, Vicksburg, Mississippi

Date of Stay: March, 2011 - $27.00
Overall Rating:

The sites were somewhat unlevel owing to cracked concrete surfaces. It was left to my discretion to locate a suitable site for my use (there were many vacancies). The staff was pleasant. All-in-all, the campground was good as an overnight. We camped at Ameristar Vicksburg RV Park in a Fifth Wheel.

Fieldridge Acres, Charlotte, North Carolina

Date of Stay: February, 2011 - $20.00
Overall Rating:

The site was adequate. Facilities were without interruption (no surges or interruptions of power). The nearby airport provided a degree of noise, but as an overnight stay it was acceptable. We camped at Fieldridge Acres in a Fifth Wheel.

Holiday Trav-L-Park, Virginia Beach, Virginia

Date of Stay: October, 2010 - $57.00
Overall Rating:

The facilities are very nice. I believe the rate is expensive in view of the pools, shuttle service, and other featured attractions shut down for the season. The staff at one point when attempting to have a question answered, was more interested in their computer than paying attention to guests at the front desk. Would we stay here again? Maybe. We camped at Holiday Trav-L-Park in a Fifth Wheel.

Luray KOA (formerly Luray RV Resort Country Waye), Luray, Virginia

Date of Stay: September, 2010 - $45.00
Overall Rating:

Several nights were spent here as part of a rally group. The site was a pull through and more than adequate. Was easy in and out, level, clean, and well maintained. Facilities available for group meetings were most impressive. The campground is located such that highway/road noise is virtually non-existant. Although CATV was not available, antenna reception was bringing in 6 stations. We normally stay in Winchester when visiting, but will now think earnestly of Country Waye instead. We camped at Luray KOA (formerly Luray RV Resort Country Waye) in a Fifth Wheel.

Candy Hill Campground, Winchester, Virginia

Date of Stay: September, 2010 - $48.00
Overall Rating:

We've stayed here any number of times, over several years. Recently cable TV has been added: it's most pleasant. All of our visits have been in a pull through site with full service. Some sites have been gravel, and others a concrete pad. In every case we've had adequate room. I hasten to add our visits were always overnight so we did not extend our awning. The noise from the nearby highway as well as an adjacent livestock center was a bit disconcerting during the night for sleeping. As mentioned, our visits were overnight. I don't believe we would stay multiple nights. We camped at Candy Hill Campground in a Fifth Wheel.

Camp Hatteras RV Resort & Campground, Waves, North Carolina

Date of Stay: July, 2010 - $99.00
Overall Rating:

Friendly, but we were surprised to find additional charges for cable TV, and mini-golf. The showers/commodes were cleaned only infrequently. It was nice to have a concrete pad, and the services provided were good. That said, I believe the site is overrated. We were led to believe when first inquiring, that horseback riding on the beach was close at hand and readily available. Not so: it was a good distance away (miles) and you need to make reservations a good week in advance. The mini-golf on site was a joke, not worth the effort (and additional cost). All-in-all, I do not believe we'll be returning. We camped at Camp Hatteras RV Resort & Campground in a Fifth Wheel.

Lake Myers RV & Camping Resort, Mocksville, North Carolina

Date of Stay: April, 2010 - $23.00
Overall Rating:

Somewhat difficult getting into the site. It was a pull-through even though the guide profile shows "no". The difficulty was an intimidating bridge over water at the park entrance: making us wonder as to this being the correct place. We arrived after hours so took the displayed map and made our way to our site, a little treacherous. The site itself was very nice: shaded, quiet, full services (CATV, 50 AMPS, water, sewage) and level. This was a stopover for the night, and as mentioned, once into the site it was quite pleasant. Much of the campground or "resort" appears to be permanent RV's set up with porch, etc., appurtenances. It was a respite when one was needed. We camped at Lake Myers RV & Camping Resort in a Fifth Wheel.

Crossville / I-40 KOA , Crossville, Tennessee

Date of Stay: April, 2010 - $40.00
Overall Rating:

A pleasant overnight stay. It was a KOA, then it wasn't a KOA, now it's back to being a KOA. What this amounts to, is a change in ownership. The new owners appear dedicated, and the facility shows the beginnings of their earnestness. The sites are gravel and fairly level with full service (CATV, 50 Amps, etc.), except for sewage, this has a dump site. It's quiet, and easily excessible from interstate 40. The owners as mentioned, appear dedicated (a new pool was dedicated on our arrival) and were eager and accommodating. We would return for a stay should we be passing through. We camped at Crossville / I-40 KOA in a Fifth Wheel.

Branson Stagecoach Campground, Branson, Missouri

Date of Stay: April, 2010 - $26.00
Overall Rating:

A very pleasant facility. The staff was accommodating and helpful. Our site was easy in and out, with the staff assisting with setup. The site was level concrete with ample space between sites and room fore and aft. Services provided were very good (catv, 50 amps, etc). Although a bit of a hike from downtown Branson, it was wonderfully quiet at night for sleeping. A free shuttle service is provided to and from shows day and night. We would stay here again. We camped at Branson Stagecoach Campground in a Fifth Wheel.
