Beaver KOA, Beaver, Utah

Date of Stay: October, 2019 - $43.00
Overall Rating:

The entire park is gravel with a little bit of grass, when the wind blows it becomes dusty. The park is typical layout of a KOA except the sites are larger, an older park the trees have grown and satellite serves is tough to get. We have stayed here a number of times and will again because it is well located on I15. We camped at Beaver KOA in a Motorhome.

Glenwood Springs West / Colorado River KOA, Silt, Colorado

Date of Stay: October, 2019 - $48.00
Overall Rating:

A great park right on the Colorado River. Would have given it a 9 if it would have had cement pads and asphalt roads. It is a large park with many different size sites. We wish we would have gotten a back-in on the river. Nice big office and store and everyone was friendly. Our site had a cement eating area and fire pit that helps keep the coach cleaner. Easy access and the interior roads are wide. We would stay here again. We camped at Glenwood Springs West / Colorado River KOA in a Motorhome.

Dakota Ridge RV Park, Golden, Colorado

Date of Stay: October, 2019 - $65.00
Overall Rating:

We have stayed here before and found it hard to believe the reviews that talked about all the rules and the lack of friendliness. On arrival we realized that this was one of the least friendly parks we have stayed at. From the very beginning the employees where rude. Okay it is their park they can run it any way they want but we will not return. The park is okay for a stay in Denver the sites are just long enough, the sites are close together. The sewer was not useable because it would have taken 2 or more hoses reach. The park is built on a hill and our site was not level. The park is designed for maximum sites and in that they where successful. We camped at Dakota Ridge RV Park in a Motorhome.

Goodland KOA, Goodland, Kansas

Date of Stay: October, 2019 - $42.00
Overall Rating:

A nice overnight stay, the entry was tight but the rest of the interior roads where wide enough. Typical older KOA a little worn but works for an overnight stay. The utilities worked and where well placed. Nothing fancy would stay here again. We camped at Goodland KOA in a Motorhome.

Mill Creek Campground & RV Park, Paxico, Kansas

Date of Stay: October, 2019 - $35.00
Overall Rating:

Check in was easy and friendly, the site he took us to was part of a road no place to sit or park the car except in the road. We did not sit out side the flies where terrible and 2 days later have still not gotten rid of them. The CG is filled with mostly full timers whose sites are a mess. The campground has a weird design so care was need when coming and going. We would not have found our site if he had not taken us to it. We had stayed here 10 years ago but this will be our last. The owner was more interested in selling pizza than up grading his park. We camped at Mill Creek Campground & RV Park in a Motorhome.

Driftwood Campgrounds, Quincy, Illinois

Date of Stay: October, 2019 - $32.00
Overall Rating:

This is a nice park, cement pads, lots of grass, clean older park. The lady who checked us in was great and lead us to our site. The interior roads where fine, our site was a very long back in and we where able to get satellite. Call before you get there as your GPS will lead you under a small not passable bridge. We camped at Driftwood Campgrounds in a Motorhome.

Tips for other Campers:

Drove to Hannibal Mo. and did the Mark Twain stuff. There was a lot to do and took the entire day. Toured the houses, took the Mark Twain Miss. river one hour tour. At 4pm heard a Mark Twain impersonal who was excellent. Ate at the brewery and it was not very good, the only disappointment of the day.

Leisure Lake Membership Resort, Joliet, Illinois

Date of Stay: October, 2019 - $38.00
Overall Rating:

This is membership park and the only Good Sam members can stay at the park if not a member. Looks like they have lots of activities during the summer. The park had seen a lot of rain and the grass was soaked, but the roads had a lot of gravel so they where in great shape. Check in was easy and we got the last pull thru, the turns where tight but doable. The sewer was pretty fair away so did not bother. Every thing else worked fine. A lake in the middle of the park was cool and a nice walk in the morning and made for a great view from our site. The road in front was in constant use that and closeness to the 2 interstates made the park extremely noise. Not sure if we would say here again. We camped at Leisure Lake Membership Resort in a Motorhome.

Camp Turkeyville RV Resort, Marshall, Michigan

Date of Stay: September, 2019 - $48.00
Overall Rating:

The access was easy and the interior road where wide enough even with the park full and people going over their allotted space. The sewer in our site was high but everything else was fine. Lots of kids even in late Sept. riding bikes and driving golf cart. It had been raining hard for a few days and our site did not drain properly a little more rock could have solved the problem. We would stay here again. We camped at Camp Turkeyville RV Resort in a Motorhome.

Bissell's Hideaway, Ridgeville, Ontario

Date of Stay: September, 2019 - $45.00
Overall Rating:

If you are a kid this park is a 10+++. I have never seen a park with more for kids of all ages to do. If you want have a chance to get your kids unplugged this is the place. The 2 pools are huge nice lakes with activities, basketball court, baseball diamond, rock climbing well you get the idea. It makes other family parks look like there is nothing to do!! We were there during the off season so the park was empty; not sure if in the middle of summer I would give it the same high number. We had one of the few pull thrus. I counted 10 with over 300 sites. Most of the seasonal are in the back and you would never see them. Wish our grandkids would have been with us. Hopefully we can return with them at some point. Our site was big with cement pad and all the utilities worked well. We camped at Bissell's Hideaway in a Motorhome.

Of course Niagara Falls about 20+ minutes away always worth a visit. Old city Niagara on the Lake is a very cute downtown with lots of beautiful old homes. Lots of wineries, all of them busy. The area is beautiful with lots to do.

Camp Bell Campground, Campbell, New York

Date of Stay: September, 2019 - $38.00
Overall Rating:

The owner is busy making the park nicer with a nice playground for kids. The permanents are as you enter the park and are old with lots of junk surrounding each of the sites. That part of the park has narrow turns with lots of trees. The sites saved for over nighters are located in a wide open field. The electric and water worked fine. There is no sewer but there is a dump station that was a mess. With sewer we might have given this park a 7. We camped at Camp Bell Campground in a Motorhome.

Liberty Harbor RV Park, Jersey City, New Jersey

Date of Stay: September, 2019 - $80.00
Overall Rating:

Once you get to the park it is well located to see NYC. The drive in is an adventure but the saying "go slow-go wide" makes it doable. The park itself is just a parking lot with the max number of space jammed in. We could not get reservations for electric and water so we were in the "overflow" area and if we return would stay there again, way more room and from our space we could see the NYC sky line and the Statue of Liberty. When we where leaving our slide would not come in after much work we got it in and left 40 minutes after check out time and they charged us $40 for a "late fee", seemed extreme but those were the rules. Given the few options we would stay there again. We camped at Liberty Harbor RV Park in a Motorhome.

Pine Hill RV Park, Kutztown, Pennsylvania

Date of Stay: September, 2019 - $50.00
Overall Rating:

Nice park the interior roads where a little tight. The site size was average with trees. The sewer connection was about 4 inches above the ground so a little harder to dump. There was some road noise as the CG is between a freeway and a busy state hi way. If we had not unhooked we would have been to long for the site. They are busy making improvements and it is in a beautiful area. It was okay for an over night stay. We camped at Pine Hill RV Park in a Motorhome.

Friendship Village Campground , Bedford, Pennsylvania

Date of Stay: September, 2019 - $49.00
Overall Rating:

This is a very large park with lots of mobile homes and RV sites. There are multiple pools (closed this time of yr.) and lakes for fishing (well used). Our site was long BUT only a small part was level. The map to our site was confusing but made it safely. The roads are narrow but if you drive slowly they are safe. Lots of trees but got satellite. The utilities where well placed and worked as designed. We would stay here again. We camped at Friendship Village Campground in a Motorhome.

Wolfie's Campground, Zanesville, Ohio

Date of Stay: September, 2019 - $38.00
Overall Rating:

The entry into the park is tight and the road is rough. Once in the park it is well kept. Our site was difficult to level, it was very long pull thru but there was only a small portion that was level. The park is built on a hill so most sites had the same issue. The sewer connection was above our valve making it more difficult to empty the sewer line but got it done. The check in was easy and very friendly. It was quiet and the trees where beautiful, we would stay here again. We camped at Wolfie's Campground in a Motorhome.

Elkhorn Campground, Frankfort, Kentucky

Date of Stay: September, 2019 - $38.00
Overall Rating:

This park is hard to rate because the sites differ so much. We had a back in site with no sewer for 5 days (made it through no problem). After the 2nd day we could have moved to a full service site but the office would not let us. It was over a 100 degrees for most days but the pool was never open must close after Labor Day no flexibility. Some sites have gravel and others are asphalt, some sites have grass others have none. The river is nice that runs through the park and they gave us a site that we where able to get satellite (with no guarantees). They charge 3% for CC use, first time in over 250 CG no big deal but just cheap. The turn off the road is narrow and very busy be warned. The CG is well located to see the horse and bourbon sites and that is the major plus for staying here. If you get the right site it may rate higher. We camped at Elkhorn Campground in a Motorhome.

Tips for other Campers:

We got lucky and Churchill Downs was running and got to see the historical race track. It is about an hour from the CG. Willett Bourbon in Bardstown was a great tasting, and Heartford in Paris was outstanding (very small). Took a tour of the Blue Grass horse area that was outstanding. Also visited the Ark and it is impressive. Georgetown is a cute town with a nice downtown. Five days was not enough.
