Casper KOA, Bar Nunn, Wyoming

Date of Stay: August, 2010 - $38.00
Overall Rating:

The store was very nice. The pool was indoors, which was very nice since it was quite windy the day we stayed here. The owners were friendly and gave us good advice about how to get around Casper. The wife and I even walked over to the nearby lounge and played pool in the evening. The campground is actually slightly north of Casper, not far off I-25. As other reviewers have said, there is precious little shade. But it is a nice place to stay for a day or three while in the area. We camped at Casper KOA in a Fifth Wheel.

Rock Springs / Green River KOA, Rock Springs, Wyoming

Date of Stay: August, 2010 - $40.00
Overall Rating:

I had no issues with the cable TV, as some July reviewers had. There is absolutely no shade here, though. But the pool was very nice and cooled us off nicely. Had to do a bit of leveling and was concerned because my truck's nose seemed to be sticking out into the road. The folks who checked us in were friendly and efficient. Lots of long-term folks here. A good overnight stop. We camped at Rock Springs / Green River KOA in a Motorhome.

Craters of the Moon / Arco KOA , Arco, Idaho

Date of Stay: August, 2010 - $35.00
Overall Rating:

It was a pleasure to pull in to this park on a hot afternoon after a long day of driving. The owner/host welcomed us warmly and, when we got to our site, asked us if it was satisfactory. The pool was wonderful, the bathrooms were immaculate, and the owners couldn't have been nicer. We camped at Craters of the Moon / Arco KOA in a Fifth Wheel.

Square Dance Center and Campground, Lolo, Montana

Date of Stay: August, 2010 - $30.00
Overall Rating:

Marvelous place with very friendly owners. We're not square dancers, but we had a great time watching. Also enjoyed walking around the grounds and the river. If you like steak, the Lolo Steakhouse is very close and very good. Site was level, if a bit short for our rig. Bathrooms were clean. I heard very little highway noise. We would camp here again in a heartbeat. We camped at Square Dance Center and Campground in a Fifth Wheel.

7th Ranch RV Camp, Garryowen, Montana

Date of Stay: August, 2010 - $35.00
Overall Rating:

Wonderful park, especially for visiting Custer's Last Stand. We had a long, very level pull-through site. The owners/hosts were very nice. The ice cream upon arrival was very nice, especially since it was very hot when we pulled in. A pool would make this place a "10." We camped at 7th Ranch RV Camp in a Fifth Wheel.

Des Moines West KOA, Adel, Iowa

Date of Stay: July, 2010 - $40.00
Overall Rating:

A very nice KOA. It is far enough off the Interstate to be quiet, yet close enough to be convenient. The owners/hosts were very friendly. The store is wonderful and has a great selection of local wines. The only negative: there were no shade trees at our site. But overall a wonderful campground with great, friendly hosts. We camped at Des Moines West KOA in a Fifth Wheel.

Wildwood Acre RV Park, Stillwater, Oklahoma

Date of Stay: April, 2010 - $24.00
Overall Rating:

Did not see the bathroom signs that concerned an earlier reviewer. The bathrooms were clean. Not spotless or sparkling by any means, but certainly not dirty, either. The sites are gravel. Ours was a long pull-through and quite level. The lady that checked us in was very nice and friendly. This is not a destination park by any means, but for a night or three it's quite agreeable. Given the time of year we stayed here, I was most happy for the easily accessible underground storm shelters at this park. No storms the night we stayed, but the fact that the shelters are close by sure gave us peace of mind. I would stay here again. We camped at Wildwood Acre RV Park in a Fifth Wheel.

Jellystone Park at Whispering Pines (formerly Whispering Pines RV Reso, Tyler, Texas

Date of Stay: April, 2010 - $15.00
Overall Rating:

Very nice park with good facilities. I would've given it a 10, but our site (and several sites near us) had sewer hookups that were too far away. We would've needed at least 10 more feet of sewer hose to connect. The adult pool was closed for repairs, but the family pool was wonderful, if a bit chilly. Other than the sewer hookup, everything about this place was wonderful: very friendly lady checked us in; shady sites; very remote "feel" to the place. And Bodacious BBQ just down the road was great. We camped at Jellystone Park at Whispering Pines (formerly Whispering Pines RV Reso in a Fifth Wheel.

Date of Stay: April, 2010 - $28.00
Overall Rating:

This is an excellent park. The playground is a little dated, but the hosts are very friendly and our site was level and wide. Because its close to Omaha it's worth more than just a overnight stop. We camped at West Omaha / NE Lincoln KOA in a Fifth Wheel.

Double Nickel Campground, Waco, Nebraska

Date of Stay: June, 2009 - $30.00
Overall Rating:

If you like a beer-swilling bar with RV hookups, this is the place for you. The put-put course is nothing but rotting wood and rotting outdoor carpet. The interior roads are nothing but pot-holed cow paths. The RV sites are nothing but un-level gravel pits. But the "best" part of this place is the on-site liquor store that caters especially to the owners/hosts as well as the locals. The drunker the host got, the ruder he was. If you like to get plowed and make lots of noise, this is the place for you, If you're driving West, keep going to Henderson. If you're driving East, keep going to Lincoln. Camp-a-Way in Lincoln is great. We camped at Double Nickel Campground in a Motorhome.
