Juniper Hills Campground, Brooklyn, Michigan

Date of Stay: September, 2019 - $28.00
Overall Rating:

The office was closed when we arrived but then someone came to help us, as I was getting ready to call. We had a back in space on the grass that we were able to level. Utilities were on the opposite side but we had long enough cords to make it work. It was very quiet as it was mid-week and no racing. The location was perfect as we have friends in town about 10 minutes away. Plenty of room to walk the dog. Pricing was good when using Passport America, although $10 extra for 50amp seemed a bit high. I would not stay here for full price, especially since there is no sewer. But the location was good for us and for 1 nite it was fine. We camped at Juniper Hills Campground in a Motorhome.

Traverse Bay RV Resort, Williamsburg, Michigan

Date of Stay: June, 2019 - $85.00
Overall Rating:

We began our stay at this park as renters for 2 1/2 months but loved it so much that we ended up buying a lot. Our reasons were many. The staff at the park is helpful, friendly and efficient. From the moment we got there we felt very welcomed. Even though we were renting, the owners welcomed us to all their events and made us feel very comfortable. The dog park did have an issue with mud early in the season due to unusually heavy spring rains, but it dried out later and was good. Walking our dog was no problem. There was plenty of open space for a walk close to our space, plus a HUGE area at the front of the park if you want a longer walk. Everyone stopped and petted my dog and even invited him for a play date. The park is fully paved with concrete spaces. Navigating with our big rig was easy. Most lots have beautiful landscaping. The club houses are immaculate and have games and card tables. A calendar is published with activities that anyone staying here can attend. I have never seen a laundry room as clean and working so well as here. Utilities worked well at our site, but we did have a problem with our breaker and once it was reported, it was fixed in less than an hour. Although children are welcomed there really is not a lot for them to do except use the pool or ride their bikes around the park. If you are coming here expecting a camping environment, that is not what this park is. Although it is close enough to Traverse City for sightseeing and restaurants, it is a little out of town, so it's in a quieter area, which we appreciated. We camped at Traverse Bay RV Resort in a Motorhome.

Shady Pines RV Park, Texarkana, Texas

Date of Stay: May, 2019 - $35.00
Overall Rating:

This is a nice quiet park a little ways off the freeway but worth the drive on good roads even for big rigs. It's extremely well kept with concrete sites with grass in between. There is a lovely pond and plenty of space to walk the dog. The staff is friendly and efficient. We've stayed here several times and will return each time we are in Texarkana. I would rate this a 10 but it doesn't provide any amenities like a pool. But it's a great overnight stop. We camped at Shady Pines RV Park in a Motorhome.

Dallas Northeast Campground (formerly Dallas Northeast/Caddo Mills KOA, Caddo Mills, Texas

Date of Stay: May, 2019 - $44.00
Overall Rating:

A quiet place just 1/4 mile from the freeway. Great for an overnite stay on the way to or from Dallas. Park is neat with grass between sites. Nice area to walk the dog, and a clean looking pool. Front desk personnel were friendly which was needed after driving all day thru tornado warnings. Huge rainfall before we came. A little muddy but not bad considering the size of the storm. Will definitely stay here again even for a few days. We camped at Dallas Northeast Campground (formerly Dallas Northeast/Caddo Mills KOA in a Motorhome.

Cutty's Des Moines Camping Club, Inc, Grimes, Iowa

Date of Stay: July, 2018 - $10.00
Overall Rating:

We have been here 3 times and each time they treat us like an owner, although we are Coast to Coast. We really appreciate that. The property is pretty but the roads and sites need some work, as they look very worn. We were located toward the back but did not hear the freeway noise like the area by the pool. We did enjoy the pool, as it was hot and the lake is very pretty. It's a good area to get to amenities and an easy on and off from the freeway with nice wide roads. Verizon service was good. We camped at Cutty's Des Moines Camping Club, Inc in a Motorhome.

Amana Colonies RV Park, Amana, Iowa

Date of Stay: July, 2018 - $40.00
Overall Rating:

The office is very efficient and we were shown to our site. This place is HUGE and it wasn't too crowded, so we were given an area where we were apart from others. It is very quiet, which is nice. When we got there, there was a tornado warning, so I check out the rest rooms which were the shelters. They seemed lacking a they are fabricated buildings. Luckily, the tornado missed us. Good location for visiting Amana and Pella. Site was a pull through because no one was behind us. Good Verizon service. Lots of room to walk my dog. We camped at Amana Colonies RV Park in a Motorhome.

Rustic Barn RV Park, Kieler, Wisconsin

Date of Stay: July, 2018 - $50.00
Overall Rating:

We stayed here several years ago and there have been MANY improvements with the sites since then like adding sewer and widening the sites. This is a great location in the tri-state area and it's extremely quiet with pretty views of the next door dairy farm. As others have said, the owner is extremely friendly. The person working the desk the day we came in was extremely slow. My husband came looking for me after he unhooked our car wondering what was taking so long. They changed our spot after I asked for a satellite friendly spot and I had to go back to the office another day to get my refund. Seemed odd, but worked out. Other than a slow front desk, the park is run very well and there's a lot of pride in ownership. We did enjoy the games that they had set up on the lawn like ladder golf. It was a nice touch. We will definitely come back. We camped at Rustic Barn RV Park in a Motorhome.

O'Neil Creek Campground, Chippewa Falls, Wisconsin

Date of Stay: July, 2018 - $58.00
Overall Rating:

We had a easy to get to pull through with good directions from the office on how to get there with our big rig. This is a BIG family place but we were here during the week, so it was reasonably quiet. Lots of people who come here for the summer. It was easy to get to and easy to navigate the park on paved roads and a paved site. The pricing seems high, especially because we did not take advantage of the kid amenities and activities. But they are full and in a good location. We had good Verizon service and our site was open to get satellite. Nice and quiet park overnight, which was appreciated. We camped at O'Neil Creek Campground in a Motorhome.

Willow River State Park, Hudson, Wisconsin

Date of Stay: July, 2018 - $35.00
Overall Rating:

As others have said, the price on the surface doesn't look bad but by the time you add the daily fee, it is as high as other campgrounds and only for electricity. That being said, this was the perfect location for us to visit friends in town. We were in loop 200 and had to go to 100 for the showers. Roads were good for our big rig and we had a pull through.Plenty of room for our 40 foot RV and the tow. Showers were hot and bathrooms were clean. It was a quiet environment overnight, which was appreciated. We had good cell service (Verizon) and were able to use our satellite. We camped at Willow River State Park in a Motorhome.

South Shore Campground, Cornucopia, Wisconsin

Date of Stay: July, 2018 - $25.00
Overall Rating:

Bring plenty of bug spray! This is a very rustic campground but does have large pull through spots for big rigs. The price is good but no amenities. There are pit toilets but no showers, just water and electric. We knew this going in and we are self contained so can manage for several days which was fine. We never saw the owners and there is no office. However, calls and emails prior to arriving were answered in a timely manner. Our site was marked as we had a reservation and we were easily able to locate it. It was a quiet campground with minimal noise from the road during the day and overnight extremely quiet. It's about a 30 minute drive to Bayfield on Hwy 13 which is the only major town out this way. Cornucopia was down the road but not much there except a general store, restaurant, beach and a few shops. But it was good to have it that close by. Aside from the bugs being a bit much, our stay was good here. We camped at South Shore Campground in a Motorhome.

Patricia Lake Campground, Minocqua, Wisconsin

Date of Stay: July, 2018 - $42.00
Overall Rating:

We just stayed here overnight on our way up to Bayfield. The person in the office was very accommodating in telling us how to enter so we could maneuver our big rig into a very wooded campground and space. We had a pull through spot but my husband felt he had to unhook since we couldn't get in straight. Also, luckily the site across from us moved their truck and boat before we had to leave or it would have taken multiple back and forth movements to get out of our site. As it was, we couldn't hook up in the park without blocking the exit, so we went down the road to the park and hooked up there. This is a beautifully wooded park with a lovely swimming beach, a dog park and a dog swimming area. We got the best space possible for our rig and appreciated the staff being so helpful. There are some spaces up front that seem better for a big rig but seem to be seasonal spots. We were glad that we had a space to stay for the night but don't know if we'd stay here again due to the size of our rig. We camped at Patricia Lake Campground in a Motorhome.

Apple Creek Campground , De Pere, Wisconsin

Date of Stay: June, 2018 - $39.00
Overall Rating:

Apple Creek had some good and bad points. It's an older campground and has a terrible entry/exit with it being too narrow, especially for multiple big rigs. We got there and then found out that we had to turn around and go to another area that had a separate entrance. In the mean time, other rigs were coming in and we had to wait for them to move before we could exit. I did prefer where we stayed, which was away from the main campground and down the road. The spaces were wider and easy to get a big rig into them. We could also get satellite and it was quieter than the main campground with lots of campers, trailers, and kids. As mentioned by others, there definitely is a dairy odor. It comes and goes. The location of the park is a bit of a drive from De Pere but not unreasonable. The campground itself just looked old and worn and although they seem to want to maintain it, it could be in better shape. It was nice to have the pool since it was so hot. It was clean but not in good repair. They were showing movies in the rec area on a big TV and that was nice. Our space was a little tough to level but long enough that we could manage it. Utilities were good and there was plenty of space to walk our dog and use an area not on other sites. Verizon voice and data were good. Use the directions from the campground to get there once you get off the freeway and don't turn in where you see the RVs up on the hill. The entrance is further down. Our GPS wanted to put us on the frontage road, but we didn't follow it. Glad we didn't. We camped at Apple Creek Campground in a Motorhome.

Baileys Grove Campground, Baileys Harbor, Wisconsin

Date of Stay: June, 2018 - $42.00
Overall Rating:

This is an older campground with spaces fairly close to one another and small side roads to navigate to get into your space. That being said, we were able to get our 40 foot RV in and out of the space which was level. They are opening up some new spaces in the back that are longer and roomier and I think this will be a great addition to the park for big rigs. The park is quiet and in a good location. It only takes a few minutes to get to Baileys Harbor and it is a relatively short drive to the other towns like Fish Creek, Egg Harbor and Sisters Bay. The check-in process was easy and quick and the young man that checked us in was friendly. There is a pool and playground for kids and room to walk your dog. The only downside was trying to hook up our car. We felt we might not have been able to get out of the site without some backing up, so we didn't want to hook up there. The exit road is small and we didn't want to block the road while we hooked up. We chose to go into the wooded back area and block the road there, as there weren't many people staying there and they could go around us the other way. Verizon voice and data services were good here. We enjoyed our stay and would come back hoping to use the new area. We camped at Baileys Grove Campground in a Motorhome.

Breezy Hill Campground (formerly Fond du Lac / Eden KOA), Fond Du Lac, Wisconsin

Date of Stay: June, 2018 - $55.00
Overall Rating:

We really enjoyed our stay at this campground. It was a short drive off the freeway on a good road and a quite place over night. The access roads in the park were nice and wide for our big rig and we had a nice view of the small lake, plus it was open so we could get satellite. They seem to have sites for everyone from wooded to open to small and long. It was a quiet campground, although we were there during the week and expect it was much busier on the weekends with a lot of activities for kids. The owners are extremely friendly and helpful and you can tell that they want to run a good campground by the way they keep it up and try to do all they can to make your stay a good one. It is a little pricey, but we would without a doubt come back here as it was very comfortable. We camped at Breezy Hill Campground (formerly Fond du Lac / Eden KOA) in a Motorhome.

Madison KOA, De Forest, Wisconsin

Date of Stay: June, 2018 - $52.00
Overall Rating:

This is one of the nicest KOA's we have stayed in. It has all the usual KOA amenities and is a short drive into Madison. Staff was extremely helpful and made note that when we completed our online reservation that we asked for a space with satellite availability and gave us that. All utilities were good and the space was level. They have a huge entry/exit which is nice when multiple rigs show up at the same time or space is needed to hook up the car. I used the laundry room and it was very clean. The dog park was very clean with water, shade and seating available. Verizon service was very good but I found their wifi weak but of course that depends upon where you are in the park and how many people are using it. We have stayed here before and will return.
