Wilderness Edge Campground, Millinocket, Maine

Date of Stay: July, 2018 - $38.00
Overall Rating:

This is a great campground, with a little bit for everyone! Sites are large and separate, the wife and I really enjoyed not looking right at our neighbors all the time! Our two dogs, who can get a little overwhelmed with a lot of commotion were fine, they enjoyed being outside, and walking around the campground. The owners care about the place, they do a great job with upkeep/cleaning. The bathrooms were cleaned several times a day, and were spotless! Showers were HOT, and the electricity at the site was perfect (it was nearly too hot to be outside for 2 days of our stay, A/c in the camper was a lifesaver! There's a nice pool and a really nice playground for the kiddos too. The owners put on a pig roast for Toys for Tots Saturday afternoon, which we thought was pretty cool, even though we didn't participate. They even did their own fireworks! No complaints, we had an excellent stay, and will return (soon I hope). By far, our most relaxing camping trip so far this year. We camped at Wilderness Edge Campground in a Travel Trailer.

Chewonki Campground, Wiscasset, Maine

Date of Stay: June, 2018 - $55.00
Overall Rating:

BEWARE!! Infested with ticks!!! Sewer sites have less privacy than a WalMart parking lot. We took the dogs for one walk around the property and both dogs were covered! They were dog ticks, but still - totally disgusting. If you know you have a tick problem, be responsible and post signs or spray. A tick once in a while is nature, but this was a bit much. Needless to say, my wife and I couldn't sleep cause we had the "heebee geebee's" all night. My wife actually found a tick hanging out in my beard on the way home. We picked this campground based off of reviews and recommendations from others, and I have to say I am REALLY surprised. Our site was in a field, 10' away from our neighbors- in hindsight we should have asked for a non-sewer site, those sites looked a lot more private and wooded. Additionally our neighbors had a dog, (you know the little cat-ish rat dogs with "small man's syndrome), who was off leash the entire time (against the rules we were told no less than three times when checking in. We are responsible dog owners, we play by the rules and make sure our dogs behave. We were nervous the entire time that this little rat dog would provoke one of our dogs who are much bigger, and we would have a situation. Additionally the dog across the way, also a little Napoleon was a yapper! The owners just let him yap!! Needless to say, after one evening we had enough, packed up and went home without even checking out. $55 down the drain.... you win some, you lose some. I hope this post helps others out... this is an otherwise really nice campground with nice facilities and views. Field sites are like camping in a parking lot! Only camp on those sites if you spend the whole tim inside your camper, or if you like your neighbors- like family. Sites are almost close enough to read your neighbors paper over their shoulder from your site. We camped at Chewonki Campground in a Travel Trailer.

Cupsuptic Campgrounds, Oquossoc, Maine

Date of Stay: May, 2018 - $49.00
Overall Rating:

Great campground. Clean, CLEAN bathrooms and showers. Very nice bath house facility. Lots of kids and lots of dogs, which were no problem at all, actually made us feel better about the occasional bark from our own dogs. Very friendly and staff, beautiful location, on Cupsuptic lake, 10-15 min to Rangeley/5-10 min to Oquossoc. If you're a seasoned pro at towing a camper, take rt. 17 up over Height of Land (be sure to stop at the over-look), if not, take rte 4, via Farmington, the road is in much better shape, and less crowned, it only takes about 25 minutes longer. We camped at Cupsuptic Campgrounds in a Travel Trailer.

Potter's Place Campground, Lebanon, Maine

Date of Stay: May, 2018 - $27.00
Overall Rating:

Probably the best campground I've been to. No frills, but solid amenities, nice sites, and great staff. The fellow, who runs the place, is great! He helped us get the water working on our new TT. He was very funny, helpful, and all around just a good guy. We camped very early in the season, it was not very busy. Really nice pull through site and a dump station, very large and easy to use. It looks like the majority of sites are seasonals. When we arrived, we thought there were only a few campers, the next morning we noticed a bunch of seasonals there - we didn't even know! That's how quiet it is there! We camped at Potter's Place Campground in a Travel Trailer.
