Mohican State Park, Loudonville, Ohio

Date of Stay: June, 2016 - $27.00
Overall Rating:

Beautiful state park. Our favorite place to camp when visiting Mohican/Amish area. Nice store and newly remodeled showerhouses with ceramic tile and fresh paint. Quite a big improvement from our stay last year. Site 90 is spacious and the fire ring is situated right on the river bank for a great view. Plenty of room for a screen house or canopy on this lot. The only bad thing is it tends to be a little muddy in rainy weather but the campground has attempted to fix this by laying straw down on the affected areas. This was a minor inconvenience to us and wouldn't deter us from booking this site again in the future. We camped at Mohican State Park in a Travel Trailer.

Tips for other Campers:

Downtown Loudonville has some nice little shops and restaurants to visit. A drive through the state park is a must to see the covered bridge and the gorge overlook. Breathtaking scenery and a beautiful drive, winding through the forest. Highly recommend this area.

Maumee Bay State Park, Oregon, Ohio

Date of Stay: August, 2010 - $27.00
Overall Rating:

This is a nice state park. Very clean. Spacious sites. The restrooms are the cleanest I've ever seen at a state park. The showers are all ceramic tile and very nice. They had a Hawaiian luau the weekend we were here and had a pig roast, along with a dance which was a lot of fun. The inland beach is spacious and clean. We would stay here again. We camped at Maumee Bay State Park in a Travel Trailer.

Cowan Lake State Park, Wilmington, Ohio

Date of Stay: July, 2010 - $27.00
Overall Rating:

We had a large shady site. We stayed during the week and there were very few campers there and it was quiet and peaceful. The restroom and shower house were disappointing. The restroom had a strong smell of cat urine. The cleaning routine seemed to consist of emptying the trash and replenishing the toilet paper. There were tons of spiders, bugs and spider webs. The shower house had a strong odor of cigarette smoke. Again, lots of spider webs and bugs. It didn't look to have been cleaned thoroughly recently. The campground had its own beach which was nice. The lake had some seaweed in it and the water was green, which might have been because of the 90 degree weather. The personnel were friendly and helpful. The store had a restaurant which offered reasonably priced fast food. Because of the restrooms and shower house, we would not stay here again. We camped at Cowan Lake State Park in a Travel Trailer.

Clinton Lake Camping, Republic, Ohio

Date of Stay: June, 2010 - $23.00
Overall Rating:

This is a very nice, clean mom and pop type campground. The sites are decent size and level. The campground is located well off a state highway, down a country road so it is very peaceful and quiet. There is a swimming lake and a fishing lake. There are lots of seasonal campers but there are several lots available for 'weekenders.' The staff is personable, friendly and helpful. There is a camp store which is well stocked with all of the essentials. We would definitely stay here again. We camped at Clinton Lake Camping in a Travel Trailer.
